Break The Silence

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

December 2012:

Jimin sat at the back of the car, gazing outside at the tall trees crossing in speed. Earlier in the morning, Mr. Park told him to get ready, not giving a chance to ask any question.

Jimin had no choice besides to follow his father's command, he didn't want to mess up, as he knew, if his dad gets angry, then there would be consequences.

Sitting on the passenger seat, Mrs. Park too refused to explained anything to Jimin. She merely glared at him in return, even Jimin still could see her stare through the front mirror, and it ached his heart.

He sat quietly, curious but too afraid to say anything. But Jimin certainly sensed something, their silence seemed to pierce him, and they looked satisfied, something that Jimin didn't witnessed sine a long.

"Maybe they forgave me." Jimin thought, but soon the whispers echoed in his mind.

"They will never forgive you."

"You're a killer"

"You killed your brother."

Jimin rubbed his ears to rid of those haunting whispers, but it kept echoed. Despite feeling on edge, Jimin decided to stay calm. He wanted to be a good son, especially since he already felt responsible for hurting his family. His legs trembled nervously, his heartbeat raced, and he couldn't figure out why this fear kept tightening its grip on him.

"It's okay! Calm down, you can do it." Jimin told himself, "Don't hear them."

After two hours of long ride, Mr. Park pulled the car in front of the four story building. Jimin's heart sank as he read the sign, Yeosan Mental Hospital. His hands gripped the edge of his seat, each thud of his heart echoed loudly in his chest.

"Why are we here?" Jimin asked, his voice shaky. No one answered.

Mr. Park got out of the car and opened the door of backseat. "Get out," he said coldly, avoiding Jimin's eyes.

"No," Jimin whispered, his throat tightening, his breath became faster and faster."What's happening Mom? Why are we here?" He asked crawling himself back.

Without uttering a single word, Mrs. Park stepped out of the car as well, her face lacked any expression.

Jimin looked at her desperately, hoping that she might help him. But Mrs. Park refused to show any mercy."Mom, please tell me! you're not going to leave me here!" He asked.

Jimin shifted his attention on the two staff members in white uniforms stood in front of the large iron gate. "No!" he shouted, panic surged inside and he began to cry. "Please, I'll be good! Don't leave me here!"

Mr. Park grabbed Jimin's arm and pulled him out of the car. "This is for your own good," he said harshly.

"No, it's not!" Jimin shouted, tears streaming down his face. He fell to his knees on the pavement, clutching Mr. Park's leg. "Please, Dad, don't leave me! I'll do anything! I'll listen! Just don't leave me alone here! Please don't leave me here... please." He begged, but Jimin's plea fell on a dead ears.

Mr. Park pushed Jimin away, no sign of sympathy. "Take him inside," he told the staff.

"No! No! Mom! Dad! Please!" Jimin screamed, reaching out as the staff grabbed his arms and began to drag him away. He fought against them with all his strength, but it was no use.

Mrs. Park turned her back, refusing to watch. Mr. Park stood still, his jaw tight, but he oddly looked calmed, as if he just got rid of a burden.

The two staff members gripped Jimin tightly, dragging him toward the iron gates of the hospital. Jimin kicked and twisted, his voice hoarse from screaming. "Let me go! Please, don't do this! I'm not crazy!"

His cries echoed through the building, but no one stopped to help. The staff members didn't say a word as they dragged him inside the building. His legs scraped against the floor as he tried to plant his feet firmly, but their grip was too strong.

At the end of the long hallway, Dr. Lee stood with a calm reassuring smile, he held a clipboard in one hand and adjusted his glasses with the other. Jimin froze for a moment, fear creeping into his chest, he continued to writhed and protested, crying out for help.

"Is this him?" Dr. Lee asked the staff, his voice calm but firm.

"Yes, sir," one of the men replied, still holding Jimin tightly.

Dr. Lee stepped closer, leaning slightly to look Jimin in the eyes. "Welcome to Yeosan, Jimin," he said, his tone gentle. "There's no need to fight. You'll be safe here."

Jimin shook his head violently, his voice cracking as he pleaded, "I don't want to leave here, Please, let me go! I'm not sick!"

Dr. Lee straightened and looked at the staff. "Take him to the fourth floor," he ordered.

"No! No! Please!" Jimin screamed, fighting harder against their grip. His heart pounded in his chest as they mercilessly began to drag him toward the elevators.

Dr. Lee followed closely, jotting something down on his clipboard. "We have to begin his medication as soon as possible." he added.

The elevator doors opened with a dull sound, revealing a dimly lit corridor on the third floor. The two staff members dragged Jimin down the narrow hallway, his energy fading as his cries became hoarse whispers.

"Please, don't do this. Don't leave me here," he whimpered, but the staff didn't respond. They stopped in front of a small, metal door. One of the men pulled out a set of keys and unlocked it with a loud clank.

The room was narrow, with bare concrete walls and a small, barred window that let in only a little glimpse of of daylight. A single iron bed with a thin mattress stood against the wall.

"Get in," one of the staff members ordered. Jimin shook his head, clinging to the doorway, but they shoved him inside. He stumbled and fell to his knees, his hands scraping against the rough floor.

The door slammed shut behind him with a deafening thud. Jimin crawled on his knees and ran to the door, pounding on it with his fists. "Please! Don't leave me here! I'm sorry! I'll be good, I promise! Just don't leave me alone!" he screamed, his voice cracking with desperation.

Jimin hit the door over and over, his fists aching from the impact. "Please! Someone! Mom! Dad! Please come back!" he cried, his voice echoing in the empty hallway outside, but no one came to help him.

The room grew darker as the day slipped away, the single bulb flickering weakly above him. The shadows in the corners seemed to grow, the whispers echoed in his ears, laughing on him, mocking his helplessness.

"You killed Jisun, you deserve this."

Jimin's chest tightened with fear, his heart pounding as if it might burst. He always hated the darkness, it made him realized that he was alone, the voices became more clear and they told him the same thing over and over again.

"Jimin you're a killer, you deserve this pain."

Exhausted, he slid down to the floor, his back against the cold metal door. His sobs turned into quiet, shaky breaths as he hugged his knees to his chest. Tears streamed down his face, soaking the fabric of his shirt.

"They left me," he whispered to himself, his voice barely audible. "They really left me." The weight of the realization crushed him. His parents had abandoned him, left him in this cold, lonely room, and no one was coming to save him.

Jimin buried his face in his arms, his body shaking with silent cries. He felt small and helpless, like a child lost in a dark, endless forest. The fear of being trapped in this place forever consumed him, and for the first time, he truly believed he was alone in the world.
