BTTH: The Legend Of Xiu Emperor

Chapter 77: So White

Xiao Xun'er quickly put on Yun Xui's mask. There was no other reason—she just wanted to put her brother Xui'er's mask back on properly.

She had always known that her brother Xui'er was handsome. Very handsome. Ever since they met as children, she had been drawn to this striking "big brother."

Now, after four years of not seeing him, her brother Yun Xui looked even more dashing.

The moment he took off his mask, she finally understood why her brother Yun Xui always wore it. He had to. He was simply too handsome—breathtakingly so.

At that moment, Xiao Xun'er felt an overwhelming sense of crisis. She feared that someone might take her brother Yun Xui away. She pressed herself against his back while putting the mask back on him, holding him tightly, afraid to let go.

"Brother Xui'er," Xiao Xun'er murmured while clinging to him.

"Xun'er," Yun Xui responded softly.

"Brother Xui'er, can you promise me something?" Xiao Xun'er asked slowly, her voice gentle but serious.

"Xun'er, tell me what it is first," Yun Xui replied, hesitant to agree to something he couldn't fulfill.

Xiao Xun'er shook her head and said, "Brother Xui'er, please promise me first."

Yun Xui hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay."

When Xiao Xun'er heard his agreement, her face lit up with joy. She quickly said, "Brother Xui'er, promise me that from now on, you will only take off your mask when you're with me. You mustn't take it off in front of others."

Yun Xui was stunned by the request. "What? Am I too handsome? Can an eight-year-old girl actually feel this threatened?"

He smiled wryly under his mask and thought, I guess my damn good looks really are a problem.

"Okay, Xun'er," Yun Xui finally agreed. "I promise I won't take off my mask easily in the future. No one except you deserves to see my face."

"Really?" Xiao Xun'er asked, her voice tinged with excitement yet still seeking reassurance.

"Of course," Yun Xui replied with a chuckle. He turned around, catching Xiao Xun'er off guard, and pulled her into his arms.

Yun Xui's gaze softened as he looked at Xiao Xun'er, who blushed deeply. She hugged him tightly and whispered, "I believe you, Brother Yun Xui."

In the shadows, Ling Ying observed the intimate interaction between his young lady and Yun Xui. His thoughts churned. It seems this masked man really is from the ancient clan. But if the clan leader sent someone, why wasn't I informed?

The next day marked Yun Xui's third day in the Xiao family's residence. Over these days, Yun Xui had stayed close to Xiao Xun'er, deepening their bond. Though their engagement was born of political interests, Yun Xui believed it was fate. And since fate had brought them together, they needed to nurture it.

Strangely, Yun Xui hadn't encountered his "fellow villager" Xiao Yan during his time there. He also had no idea what transpired in the hall after he and Xiao Xun'er left that first day. Xiao Zhan, whom he later saw, showed no trace of disappointment or anger over the broken engagement. As for Nalan Yanran, she had stayed, but Yun Xui didn't know whether it was by her choice or due to Xiao family's persuasion. He didn't care to find out.

That morning, Xiao Xun'er was training in her courtyard. She admired Yun Xui's strength and good looks, but she didn't want to be a mere decoration or burden. Determined to keep her brother Yun Xui from being taken by someone else, Xiao Xun'er resolved to grow stronger.

Yun Xui, seeing Xiao Xun'er immersed in her training, decided to take a walk. He wandered aimlessly and eventually found himself in the Xiao family's back mountain.

As he walked, Yun Xui heard the sound of water. Curious, he followed it and thought, Could it be a snake or a magical beast?

Approaching slowly, he pushed aside some bushes and froze. There, in the pool, was not a beast but a beauty. The "snake" was actually a stunning woman.

Both Yun Xui and the woman in the pool were startled. She hadn't expected anyone to find her here.

Yun Xui swallowed hard, his throat dry. Only two words echoed in his mind: So white.
