Cao Cao's hand, rough and calloused, loomed larger and larger in his vision.
"A hand?" Before his mind could process the thought, the hand—Haru's Hand—slapped him across the face.
It seemed like a gentle touch, yet the impact distorted Cao Cao's face, his cheekbone crushing inwards.
With a whoosh, like a spinning top, Cao Cao's body began to rotate, faster and faster, blurring into a whirlwind of motion.
Spin! Spin! Spin!
BOOM!
He slammed into the ground, his body continuing to spin like a drill, boring into the earth.
The smell of burning cloth filled the air as the friction between his body and the ground ignited his clothes.
The spinning finally stopped as the earth's resistance slowed him down. Cao Cao lay in the crater he'd created, his body battered and bruised.
Excruciating pain and searing heat coursed through him, but he was too disoriented to fully register it. His mind was a jumbled mess.
Who am I?
I am Cao Cao…
I'm… fighting!
What is… fighting?
His normally sharp mind stuttered and stalled, like a broken machine.
Haru appeared before him, holding up a single finger. "What number is this?"
"Three! No, five! Seven! Wait… How can you have seven fingers?!"
Cao Cao's mind snapped back into focus, the fog clearing. Ignoring the pain, he used the True Longinus as a support to push himself up.
"What kind of monstrous strength is that?! Not even the ancient Titans possessed such Strength! What 'thing' are you?!" He stared at Haru, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Haru, watching Cao Cao's frantic outburst, stroked his chin. "It's rude to call people 'things,' you know. I'm a Human—a Bona Fide Human."
"A human?!" Instinct told Cao Cao that Haru wasn't lying. And that realization… stunned him.
He gripped the True Longinus, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "I see so that's it you've reached the pinnacle of Human Potential! No… you've surpassed it!"
He looked at Haru, his gaze intense. "Ever since I was a child, I've wondered what is a hero? What does it mean to be human? What are the limits of our potential, we who are so frail and weak?"
"To find the answer, I joined the Khaos Brigade, challenged the gods, instigated conflicts, started wars!"
"I've defeated Gods and Devils with this Spear, My True Longinus, the most powerful Sacred Gear. But even with its power, I lack the confidence to face the top ten strongest in the world."
His eyes burned with passion. "But you've achieved that level of power with your physical body alone! You've Enhanced your human form to rival the strongest! You're a true hero, a natural-born hero of humankind!"
"You shouldn't be wasting your time with Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels. They're abominations, destined to be destroyed!"
Cao Cao extended his hand towards Haru. "Join me! Let the gods, the Devils, all those beings who look down on humanity, witness our true power! Let us create a world ruled by humans!"
Haru, stroking his chin, a mischievous glint in his eyes, asked, "How many attractive women are in the Hero Faction?"
Cao Cao paused, then replied, his voice hesitant, "One, I suppose. If you're generous with your definition of 'attractive.'"
Haru's face fell. "Forget about who's in charge. One girl? You expect me to help you for one girl? I have dozens, hundreds to choose from among the Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels!"
Cao Cao's face darkened. "You're rejecting my offer for Sex? For the affections of those monsters destined to be destroyed?"
Haru shrugged. "Destined to be destroyed? Kid, wake up. Looks are everything in this world."
"You're rejecting me for such a trivial reason?" Cao Cao's voice was cold.
"Why do you think humans become heroes in the first place? Isn't it for Power, Women, and Status? I've already achieved all three without having to play the hero. Why bother with the extra steps? I prefer shortcuts."
"You're siding with the supernatural… because of your own lust? You're a Disgrace to Humanity!" Cao Cao raised the True Longinus, pointing it at Haru.
He began to chant, his voice echoing through the mountains.
The True Longinus pulsed with an intense light, different from its usual holy glow. This was something else entirely.
Haru's eyes narrowed. He stood his ground, the core within his soul space pulsing, a wave of negative energy enveloping him.
A beam of holy light erupted from the spear, striking Haru.
The light flickered, then, like melting snow, began to dissipate.
"What?!" Cao Cao gasped, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"Impossible!"
"Nothing's impossible," Haru replied calmly.
"Whatever power you were about to unleash… it's Energy-Based, right? And unless it reaches a certain level, it won't affect me."
Haru hovered before Cao Cao, looking down at him.
"The True Longinus's rules have been analyzed. Checkmate, Cao Cao."
BOOM!
Haru's foot connected with Cao Cao's chest, sending him flying, crashing into a boulder, blood splattering as his skin split open.
The True Longinus slipped from his grasp, clattering to the ground.
The halo and its orbs vanished.
Truth Idea deactivated, Balance Breaker released, his body broken—Cao Cao was defeated. He looked at Haru, his face ashen.
Just then, a scream echoed through the air.
