Chapter 292 - Network System
After Ruo Manni asked Wang Miaomiao to unlock the phone screen, Wang Miaomiao numbly took her phone and unlocked it. When she saw Ruo Manni reaching out for it again, without hesitation, she handed the phone back to her.
Wang Miaomiao continued to stare blankly as the young woman clicked on the watch on her wrist. A light screen immediately popped up, covering the phone. Then, she watched the young woman skillfully operate the phone, seemingly copying some data from the phone to the “watch” on her wrist.
Wang Miaomiao didn’t have any awareness that Ruo Manni was stealing her phone’s information. Instead, she asked Liu Yang in disbelief, “Do foreign countries already have such advanced watches? It feels like this watch is something out of a sci-fi movie, like a high-tech smart brain.”
Ruo Manni naturally heard this. She glanced at Wang Miaomiao, thinking that in this world, she must also be a sci-fi fan.
Liu Yang didn’t respond to Wang Miaomiao’s question because he didn’t know how to answer. Wang Miaomiao had just woken up and didn’t know how mysterious these people were.
Liu Yang felt that with how mysterious this group was, the watch might not even be that impressive. There were likely to be many more things they had never seen before.
In fact, Ruo Manni wasn’t trying to obtain the information on Wang Miaomiao’s phone. She was copying the phone’s system so that she could use her light brain to access network information.
Although the great disaster had cut off power and the internet, it didn’t mean that the higher-ups in the bases didn’t still have it. As long as there was one place in this world with a network system, their light brains could connect to it and directly read all the information stored in the servers.
After Ruo Manni installed this world’s network system on her light brain, with its help, she would soon be able to connect to satellite networks.
Ruo Manni immediately instructed her light brain to download all the information from Earth’s network. For humans on Earth, such an enormous amount of data would require countless servers to store.
However, for the small light brain on Ruo Manni’s wrist, this amount of data didn’t even take up one-thousandth of its storage capacity.
First, Ruo Manni created a translation program between this world’s language and the interstellar language. For her, it only took half an hour to complete.
Then, Ruo Manni shared the Earth network system and the translation program with her companions. She wanted them to explore more from it so she could gather hidden information about this world from the system.
“This is the original version of Skynet, right?” Dean Atchison responded the fastest.
Since they couldn’t cultivate and had nothing else to do, the elite group was bored. When they suddenly got this new tool, they naturally started playing with it eagerly.
Dean Atchison, being an expert in light brain technology, was slightly more skilled than the rest of the elite group. With Ruo Manni’s guidance, he quickly uncovered a lot of information and began playing with it enthusiastically.
Even Ruo Manni got absorbed in it. She wanted to find the information she was looking for, but the more she looked, the more confused she became.
At that moment, Ruo Manni received a post forwarded by Dean Atchison. She opened it and saw that the post was about strategies for surviving the apocalypse.
After looking it over, she realized that the description of the zombies in the post was exactly the same as the ones she had encountered in reality today.
The poster of this thread mentioned that they had been having the same strange dream for an entire month. In the dream, they saw that a great disaster would soon befall the Earth, leading to the apocalypse.
Ruo Manni looked at the posting time and found that it had been published just a few days before the great disaster struck. However, the post had very few clicks or comments. It was likely deleted quickly after it was posted, and now it had been “found” by Dean Atchison.
The information from this world, roughly and crudely translated into interstellar language, had the consequence of Dean Atchison being able to read it but not understand much, as some word combinations seemed completely meaningless.
However, he could roughly tell that the post seemed to be about the apocalypse, and it had been specially deleted. He thought there might be some useful information in it, so he forwarded it to Ruo Manni.
“Do you remember the date of the flu outbreak after the meteor shower?” After browsing through the general content of the post, Ruo Manni looked up and asked Wang Miaomiao.
“We heard the news on June 5th. We were planning to go out that day, but then the government suddenly issued an emergency alert, urging everyone to stay at home as much as possible, so I remember it very clearly.” Wáng Miaomiao said with certainty.
Ruo Manni glanced at Wang Miaomiao. She thought Wang Miaomiao was just trying to sound good, but she guessed the reason why she remembered so clearly was probably because that day was her birthday.
The flu outbreak occurred on June 5th, and the post was published on June 1st. Many of the details were accurate.
Ruo Manni sent the top half of the post to Wang Miaomiao’s phone and said, “Take a look and see if the content of this post matches what actually happened.”
Wang Miaomiao was no longer very surprised that she could receive Ruo Manni’s message on her phone without any signal. She could even surf the internet without a network, so receiving a message was no big deal.
However, after Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang read the half post, they exclaimed, “Wow, the poster is amazing! They knew so many insider details and rules about the apocalypse so soon. There are some things we still don’t know!”
Since Ruo Manni didn’t send the post’s date along with the message, the two of them automatically assumed the post was published after the apocalypse, when the internet was still functioning.
The first half of the post predicted the flu event, the human transformation into zombies, the series of earthquakes, and the establishment of survivor bases.
Ruo Manni carefully asked Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang some questions, and both of them confirmed that these events had indeed occurred one by one.
The second half of the post predicted a severe winter snowstorm event starting in November, a zombie evolution event after the snow melts next year, and a two-year later event in which human bases would be surrounded by a zombie horde, bringing humanity to the brink of extinction.
These events haven’t occurred yet and are still just predictions, so they have time to observe whether or not they come true.
Ruo Manni also sent this information to her companions, and the elite class started discussing it eagerly. Eventually, they reached a conclusion that everyone agreed on: the poster is most likely an ability user who can predict the future.
In their interstellar era, whenever a major disaster was about to happen, there were always people who had prophetic dreams about the disaster. Since this world had experienced a cataclysm capable of wiping out humanity, it wasn’t surprising that someone had predicted it through a dream.
However, Ruo Manni didn’t think so. Because of her past life, where she often read apocalypse novels, the plot seemed very familiar. She suspected that the poster was most likely a reincarnator, and probably a kind-hearted one at that.
Moreover, and this was very important, the apocalyptic experiences described in the post were extremely familiar to her, as if they were events from one of the apocalypse novels she had read.
