Chaotic Transmigration: Making a Harem With The Old Gods

Chapter 7: Weightlessness

Taro stood in the same courtyard where he'd been thrown out of a window only a day ago, stretching his arms and waiting for Aeris to give him the next set of instructions.

He'd had breakfast, and now, with his hair braided (for the moment), he was feeling more than ready to tackle whatever came next.

The mansion was as quiet as it usually was, the soft hum of the wind the only sound breaking the silence.

"Alright, Taro," Aeris said, crossing her arms and studying him with a serious expression. "Today, you're going to learn how to move with the wind."

Taro immediately raised an eyebrow, as if he hadn't heard her right. "Move with the wind? Am I supposed to be some sort of wind whisperer now? I mean, I'm already learning to control it, but are we getting into the whole 'dancing with the breeze' thing too?"

Aeris didn't flinch at his sarcastic tone. In fact, she seemed almost used to it.

"Not exactly. The wind is more than just a tool, Taro. It's an extension of your body. If you want to control it, you need to understand how it moves. If you want to move with it, you must learn how to feel the rhythm of the wind, how it flows and swirls."

Taro put on his best serious face, crossing his arms. "So, what? I just close my eyes and get in touch with my inner wind or something?"

Aeris sighed, clearly unfazed by his attempts at humor. "The wind is not something you simply control or use at your convenience, Taro. It's a living thing — wild, unpredictable. It flows with the environment. You must become part of it. Trust it, feel it, move as it moves."

Taro raised his hands dramatically, casting a pointed glance at his hair. "Listen, I can barely trust my own hair in the morning. And now you want me to trust the wind? This is gonna be great."

Aeris didn't respond right away. Instead, she snapped her fingers, and the breeze around them seemed to shift.

It was a gentle wind, nothing too strong, but it had a sense of purpose now. It wasn't just a draft; it was an invitation, like it was asking him to join in.

"Move with it," she instructed, her voice soft but firm. "It's asking you to connect."

Taro blinked, unsure of what to do.

He was trying to feel the wind, to become part of it like Aeris had said, but all he felt was an annoyance about how the strands of his hair were slipping free from the braids.

He focused, though, feeling the breeze against his skin, its coolness on his face.

It wasn't bad. It was actually kind of nice — until a strand of hair fell into his eyes again.

"Really? Is this how it's gonna go?" he muttered under his breath, pushing the hair back and trying to ignore it. "Why does this feel like I'm trying to become one with a fan instead of the actual wind?"

Aeris, who had been watching him intently, couldn't help the small smirk that crept onto her face. "You're getting distracted. Focus, Taro. You must be as fluid as the wind."

"Fluid, huh?" Taro muttered, grinning despite himself.

He took a deep breath, determined to keep his mind from wandering. He exhaled slowly, trying to let his thoughts go, focusing instead on the sensation of the wind around him.

For a moment, there was nothing. The wind barely moved. But then — he felt it. There it was again, that pulse, that soft rhythm in the air.

It was gentle, but strong. It wrapped around him, urging him to follow. Taro raised his arms, trying to mimic the motion of the breeze. It felt unnatural at first, like he was trying to be a part of something that didn't quite fit.

But then, slowly, as his arms moved in time with the gusts, he felt it.

The wind was with him, not something to be controlled but something to be joined. His body swayed slightly with the motion, feeling the breeze pick up around him.

"Alright, alright," Taro said, his voice suddenly more focused. "I think I'm getting it. It's not so much about forcing the wind to do what I want — it's more like trying to… become one with it."

Aeris nodded, her eyes glinting with approval. "Exactly. You're starting to understand."

And just like that, the wind around them shifted.

The breeze that had been so gentle suddenly grew stronger. It was no longer a mere whisper; it was a full gust, swirling around them with purpose.

Taro gasped as the wind picked up, tugging at his body as though it was deciding to test him.

Before he knew it, the ground beneath him felt lighter, and his feet seemed to lift slightly off the ground.

He was floating, and for a split second, he thought he was about to be shot up like a rocket again. But no. This time, it was different.

The wind wasn't hurling him into the sky. It was lifting him gently, almost like an invisible hand supporting him from below.

"Whoa!" Taro yelped, flailing his arms for balance. "Okay, that's a lot stronger than I was ready for!"

Aeris, standing below, was watching him with a calm expression, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Focus, Taro. You're moving with the wind now. Don't panic."

Taro tried to steady himself, feeling the wind swirling around him in a playful yet powerful way. He floated a little higher, his feet barely touching the ground now.

He felt as though he was being held in the air, suspended by the very force of the wind.

"This is insane!" he shouted, trying to keep his voice steady despite the fluttering sensation in his stomach. "I'm floating! Like, really floating!"

He glanced down at the ground beneath him, which seemed so far away now. "Is this what you meant by 'moving with the wind'?"

Aeris raised an eyebrow, though her lips twitched into a small smile. "You're doing fine. You're moving with the current. Now, try to control your movement. You can push against the wind to change your direction."

Taro blinked, focusing on what she said. He tried to move his arms, pushing against the wind to alter his path.

At first, nothing happened. But then, slowly, he felt the wind shift beneath him, nudging him this way and that.

He began to tilt slightly, turning gently in midair, moving as though he were riding an invisible current.

"I'm, like, a bird now, huh?" Taro said with a grin, the excitement in his voice clear. "I don't know if I trust this wind to not drop me at the worst possible time."

He glanced at Aeris, who was still standing calmly beneath him. "If I crash-land and ruin your training grounds, I'll be really upset."

Aeris chuckled softly, clearly impressed by his progress despite the joking tone. "Trust the wind. It won't drop you."

"Right, because I'm just that trustworthy, huh?" Taro muttered, but the tension in his body began to ease. He was no longer fighting the wind.

He was learning how to flow with it, how to trust it, just like Aeris had said.

The breeze that had initially been playful seemed to take on a more soothing quality, the wildness fading as Taro felt his body become lighter and lighter.

It was like floating on air, not as terrifying as it had been when the wind had launched him into the sky earlier. He felt like he could stay like this forever.

"This is… this is actually kind of amazing," Taro admitted, his eyes wide with wonder. "I mean, yeah, I was terrified at first, but this is like flying without having to get on a plane!"

Aeris, still standing below, crossed her arms. "Good. Now that you're starting to get a feel for it, we can work on refining your control." She watched him for a moment, clearly satisfied with his progress. "Just be careful not to get too carried away. The wind can get unpredictable."

Taro nodded, floating higher and spinning in midair just a little. "Yeah, I think I'm starting to get it… and hey, this is definitely an upgrade from my usual morning routine." He paused, his face lighting up with a grin. "Now, if only this wind could do something about my hairline, we'd be in business."

Aeris rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the small, amused smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Focus, Taro."

Taro's grin grew wider, and for a moment, the wind, like an old friend, swirled around him, lifting him even higher.
