Choosing my Yandere Best Friend

Chapter 22: 22) Job and tears

When Ash's Dad got home the first thing he did was hug Ash. Then he kissed his wife. Then finally he gave me such a big hug he lifted me off the ground.

His smile was huge. "Oh Jax. You really should be visiting more. You weigh less than before. Ash, why is he lighter? He should be growing, not shrinking."

I laugh before returning the hug. "Good to see you too."

I honestly feel like crying in shame. Turning them down all these years when all they did was give me kindness and affection. Everything I always wanted.

I didn't think I deserved it but it's different if this is what is making them happy.

He finally set me down. "Well you won't have to worry about housing from now on so spend more money on food okay. Or just have Ash buy things for you."

I chuckled. Really who is their actual son here? "Okay I'll make sure to eat more."

He patted my head giving me another great big hug. "That's right, just let us take care of you okay. You're still a kid after all."

Actually I'm almost 25 mentally speaking. But right now I would be almost 17. So I guess this is fine.

After dinner I went into his Dad's office so we could figure out the exact work contract. "So it would be an after work secretary job. It's actually very slow at that time but we still need someone at the front desk since clients still come in."

"I can't let anyone know that you got the job through me so you'll actually have to do the work. But I know you're no stranger to hard work and will do well."

"I can get you a single bedroom apartment in the company housing, and I'll set myself and my wife up as your guardians on any paperwork. Your parents won't even know where to look for you. Plus there is a guard at all times. So you'll be pretty safe there."

Everything on the contract was more than reasonable. Well more than a complete show of how big his company is.

This particular company that I was going to work for in a law office. I'm not sure what kind of lawyers but the pay is high. The company housing is close to the company and the school.

The company housing is in a really good neighborhood and is nice enough for them to need a 24/7 guard. Plus it'll be fully furnished when I move in.

I get paid holidays off and even if I take time for school I'll still have all the benefits.

That's when I know for a fact that this was all just a show of favoritism. The actual 17 year old me would have chalked it up to it just being rich people doing rich people things. But 25 year old me knows that rich people don't hand out money like this.

This is favoritism. This is them showing love towards me. And it makes me wanna cry.

I signed the work contract as soon as he was done explaining. He pat my head and also signed. "I'll have the apartment ready by tomorrow okay?"

I nodded, almost crying. He noticed and knelt down to hug me. "You deserve all of this, I promise."

I couldn't help it. I cried.
