Clan Cultivation: Starting from Beast Taming

Chapter 159: Rat Extermination Master Baibai, Everything is Ready [Subscribe Requested]

Zhou Chun, after leaving the Wood Rock Residence, didn't immediately leave the Goldspring Marketplace. Instead, he stubbornly inquired about the Spiritual Medicine in other pharmacies and general stores.

However, aside from learning in one pharmacy that Golden Leaf Bamboo Grass could be exchanged for an equivalent age of Spiritual Medicine, he found nothing else of value.

Thus, he could only leave the Goldspring Marketplace for the time being and, with the map in hand, head towards the locations provided by Luo Qingyi where the Gold-Eating Rat packs resided, planning to acquire the high-quality Gold-Eating Rat gallbladder, which was the Spiritual Medicine he sought.

The Gold-Eating Rat is a type of low-level Demon Beast, fond of gnawing on various Spirit Ore metals.

Therefore, places swarming with such Demon Beasts are bound to contain ore veins.

The locations Luo Qingyi provided, where these Gold-Eating Rat packs were found, were near several Spirit Ore deposits within the borders of Cangzhou.

These Demon Beasts were deeply loathed and resented by the Spirit Ore owners. They burrowed everywhere in the veins, stealing Spirit Gold ores, and even attacked the Cultivators who were mining.

As a result, Spirit Ore owners often issued tasks to exterminate these Demon Beasts.

But the burrowing abilities of the Gold-Eating Rats are strong, their nests are often hundreds of feet underground, and they are waterproof, fireproof, and smoke-proof. Many Foundation Establishment Cultivators are helpless against these creatures.

Zhou Chun, however, didn't care in the least about these underground rats.

His Silver Lightning Python, Baibai, was the natural enemy and nemesis of these underground rats. As long as he found the tunnel leading to their nest and released Baibai into it, he could wipe out the entire rat's nest at once!

Thus, instead of sneaking around to catch the rats, he boldly took on a task to eliminate a rat nest at a Spirit Gold mine.

The rewards for this task were substantial. Each ordinary Gold-Eating Rat corpse could earn one Spirit Coin, and if the corpse was given to the mine, it could be exchanged for two more Spirit Coins, making a total of three Spirit Coins.

After accepting this task, Zhou Chun left the mine under the hopeful gaze of the Foundation Establishment Cultivators guarding it and began surveying the suspected locations of the Gold-Eating Rat nests given by the mine.

Arriving near the targeted locations, Zhou Chun left some specially prepared rat bait in certain areas to attract the Gold-Eating Rats.

He, on the other hand, concealed his presence in a hidden spot, monitoring the bait through his Divine Sense.

It didn't take half a day before he noticed two Gold-Eating Rats burrow their way out from underground and carry away the food.

However, those two Gold-Eating Rats were only the size of an ordinary house cat. Their burrowed holes were small – Baibai, now the size of a Silver Lightning Python, would not be able to squeeze through them.

Therefore, Zhou Chun had to find the main tunnel leading to the rat nest.

Such main tunnels, to accommodate the larger Rat King, are wider than other subterranean rat passages. Baibai, now at its current size, should just barely be able to pass through.

Consequently, Zhou Chun continued to scatter bait around to determine the approximate location of their nests based on the time and number of Gold-Eating Rats that appeared.

About three days later, after having surveyed all the locations given by the mine, he finally settled on one particular spot.

It was a stone mountain about twenty-odd miles from the ore vein. The rat nest was likely located deep underground beneath the stone mountain.

Since the Gold-Eating Rats were active all over, the area around the stone mountain was littered with rat holes, and even ordinary wild animals did not dare approach this area.

At this point, Zhou Chun patiently began to search for the main tunnel that led to the rat nest around the stone mountain.

He knew that even though the Gold-Eating Rats were subterranean, they would occasionally come to the surface to bask in the sun and forage for food, and the Rat King was no exception.

Hence, the maze of rat holes in the mountain all led to the main tunnel to the nest.

After searching for another two days, he finally found his target.

Halfway up the stone mountain, hidden beneath a large stone, was a rat hole over a foot wide that slanted down, leading into the depths to an unknown depth below. Experience more tales on empire

Zhou Chun looked at the rat hole in front of him, slapped his Spirit Beast Pouch at his waist, and released Baibai, the Silver Lightning Python.

Then he gently stroked the silver python's head and whispered, "Baibai, it's all up to you now. Remember, you must catch the Rat King alive and bring it up. A dead one is of no use!"

Hiss hiss—

The silver python raised its head and hissed a few times to signify it understood, and then it dove into the rat hole.

As Baibai burrowed into the hole, the telepathic bond between Zhou Chun and it began to weaken. Later on, Zhou Chun could only faintly sense its presence and was no longer able to continue communicating with it.

Deep underground, Baibai, the Silver Lightning Python, followed the rat tunnels and soon reached the vicinity of the rat nest.

The arrival of its natural predator sent waves of terror through the Gold-Eating Rats on lookout outside the nest. They urgently screeched warnings before turning tail to flee.

Inside the nest, the Rat King, which had been embracing a female rat in deep slumber, woke up instantly at the sound of the alarm, its eyes flashing with panic.

Squeak squeak squeak!

It shrieked, summoning the Gold-Eating Rats still in the nest to come to its defense.

In the past, some Cultivators who had tamed serpentine Demon Beasts had accepted extermination tasks to eradicate the Gold-Eating Rats.

But even a first-class superior Demon Serpent, if it ventured alone into the rat nest, would be bitten to death or injured by large numbers of Gold-Eating Rats, failing to truly eliminate these pests.

Thus, although the Rat King was somewhat panicked at this moment, it did not immediately abandon the nest and flee.

After all, in addition to the adult Gold-Eating Rats, there were many young rats in the nest that had not yet ventured out.

If it fled the nest, these young rats would all face certain death.
