Common Sense Manipulation App

Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Karl returned to his apartment, holding back a small laugh. "I can't believe i did that stupid shit," he muttered, tossing his jacket onto the couch. He pulled out his phone again, checking the app to see if there was another quest.

Before he could read further, another notification popped up on his screen, but this time it wasn't from the app. It was from social media. Without much thought, Karl opened it and was immediately greeted by a short, viral video.

The video featured a young woman in a luxurious setting casually saying, "I just made $5,000 this week by selling pictures of my feet." The screen was filled with comments expressing admiration and envy.

Karl stared at the video with a blank expression and muttered sarcastically, "Damn, who's buying her foot pics? Did their common sense get hijacked by her toenails?"

Shaking his head, he closed the app. "People are getting weirder every day," he mumbled, collapsing onto the couch. He tried to distract himself from the bizarre thought, but his brain started imagining how absurd it would be if he actually manipulated common sense to make people believe toenails were high art and worth selling for a fortune.

"Man, that sounds like a money laundering scheme," Karl said to himself, chuckling.

He was about to scroll to the next video when another notification from the Common Sense Manipulation App grabbed his attention, snapping him back to reality.

Note: Player participation is required.

Reward: +20 Uncommon Points

"A mandatory gesture? For simple actions? Is this like… some weird habit I have to make people adopt?" he muttered, trying to wrap his head around the quest.

Karl sank deeper into the couch, strategizing. "I have to get involved again, huh? These new quests aren't just about typing out a manipulation and being done with it. I need to interact directly." He sighed, already feeling drained at the thought of how creative he'd need to be this time.

---

After a few minutes of thinking, Karl finally sat up with an idea that seemed simple yet potentially effective. "What if the gesture is… twerking?"

He burst out laughing, picturing how ridiculous it would be. "Imagine if every time someone says 'thank you,' they have to twerk. And imagine someone like Rebecca doing it." His mischievous grin grew wider.

But then he shook his head quickly. "Wait, no. That would be a disaster if I ever had to say thank you myself." Memories of Rebecca popped into his mind, making him cringe slightly.

Rubbing his face with both hands, he tried to erase the absurd image from his head. "No, no, I need to come up with something simpler," he said, pacing around his apartment.

Karl paused, standing in front of a small mirror in his living room, testing out random gestures.

"What about… extending your hand straight out at chest level?" he said, trying it out. "Yeah, this looks kind of normal and easy. Although… it does feel like something out of an old military salute."

Feeling somewhat satisfied with the idea, Karl grabbed his jacket and headed out of the apartment. The evening was settling in, and the streets were bustling. He walked casually with his hands in his pockets, his eyes scanning for a target to complete the quest.

It didn't take long before his attention landed on a man with a mustache standing on the sidewalk. The man wore an old hat and had his hands tucked into his pants pockets. Karl slowed his pace, making sure he was close enough to activate the manipulation.

He stopped for a moment, opened the Common Sense Manipulation App, and navigated to the manipulation hub.

---

"The target will believe that greeting someone must always include extending their hand straight out at chest level."

---

Karl pressed [YES].

He slipped his phone back into his pocket, pretending to look elsewhere, but kept an eye on the man out of the corner of his eye.

It didn't take long. The man soon crossed paths with an acquaintance. With a small smile, he greeted, "Good evening, sir!" while extending his hand straight out at chest level, almost like a salute.

"Evening, Boy," the other man replied, while extending his hand straight out at chest level, almost like a salute.

Karl smirked, satisfied, and continued walking back to his apartment. He had lost count of how many times he'd gone in and out of his place today.

"Busy day for an unemployed guy," he muttered, shaking his head with a small laugh.
