Chapter 18: Prologue to Volume 2
I previously said that I wouldn't lead the class, but in the end, today as the S-system was revealed, I ended up doing things that will certainly make me the leader.
Was it a spur of moment?
Obviously no. As someone who knows the basics of the plot, and especially familiar with the starting volumes, it will be weird if I didn't think far enough, with Horikita's smart brain of all things.
I came to the faculty office a bit after Ayanokoji was called. Perhaps due to handling Kushida dropping out, he was called after school classes ended instead of the lunch break.
The main motto here is to nurture the seed that someone is behind my actions to become a plant, that points at Ayanokoji.
And I succeeded at it by manipulating my expressions in front of Chabashira.
But, it seems like she has a thing for blackmailing minors.
She is a bad guy!
'Yeah.'
She has started with blackmailing me.
Her threat is indeed dangerous. If the class gets to know that no one actually tried to suicide, which was a definite move so that even Hirata wouldn't oppose Kushida's expulsion, the class would turn on me because we won't be getting any points next month too.
I sensed some hostility already, that's why I am going to get everyone to pass the midterm exams.
Well... thankfully she was someone of class D, not particularly intelligent. Because everyone knows that history nerds are good at memorizing, but their thinking ability is generally not high.
That's why even dumb students generally pass history subject.
Maybe she doesn't realise this, but this was all within my expectations. If she hadn't given the wrong syllabus, I wouldn't have even come to the faculty office.
How should I say this...
All according to plan?
'All according to plan.'
"Sensei, do you know that last year, I threw away an annoying kid's ball into the drain after he repeatedly kicked his ball into my house? See if the school has any record of this."
This is something that actually happened according to my memories. Horikita was a bitch, through and through. As expected of compass-chan.
"That kid cried quite a lot. And there was no one trying to hide anything. See if this is recorded?"
"It isn't, because it is a small matter. Suicide attempt isn't.
Horikita, you have been used."
She said, and I could feel satisfaction from her voice.
I guess even as a teacher of one of the subject of social sciences, she doesn't know how people think and work.
As expected of a dumb history nerd.
Does she honestly think that if a person and his whole family was trying to hide something to not get embarassed in the society, without any intelligence agency keeping a constant eye on them, the schools, whether my middle school which was actually trying to hide the whole incident, or this school, will know about it?
Even if what I said was just my assumption, it would make sense if it actually happened.
Well... she is actually acting perfectly, just as I expected.
Knowing someone's personality and goals through the author is really a big advantage.
"Was this 'politician's kid' from some other class?"
"You are awfully curious, sensei. Don't interfere in the class matters."
"Do you even hear yourself, Horikita? I am the class's homeroom teacher. Even if I don't want to interfere directly, I do have a moral obligation to tell you about your mistakes."
"I don't want to hear advice from a drug addict."
"You do drugs sensei?"
Ayanokoji asked her, trying to act surprised.
She glared at me, and I glared back. Before she could say anything, I said,
"Cigarettes are drugs. Only people with mental problem use them. Go to a therapist. I am not going to help you in your personal agenda.
No wonder no faculty seems to have even a crush on you. Your inner ugliness outshines your outer beauty.
You, are, a defective failure."
I turned around and started leaving, unfazed by her threats.
Ayanokoji also tried to follow me, but she stopped us.
"Stop, both of you. I didn't allow you to leave."
I sighed, and looked back at her.
"Horikita, you have been used, so you should use him in return to reach class A. I doubt someone as prideful as you will accept graduating from any class other than A.
I will inform the class about Kushida's case tomorrow."
"Can I go now? I am busy."
I ignored Chabashira's threat, and then, left.
This time, she did not stop me.
As Ayanokoji followed me, I feigned putting on a frustrated expression for a moment before returning to normal.
Yet, my pace was quite fast.
"Hey Horikita, are you alright?"
I looked at my side. He easily catched up to me. Well, I wasn't running. I wonder what will be his expression if he loses to me in a race?
"Yes. Though, I guess that Chabashira-sensei wants to use me to increase her salary. Teachers of class A must get more money, just like with students."
"Then... do you want to move up to class A?"
"Not really. I am capable enough that I can get into any university I want. When I get a good job, I will give you a chance in my organisation. The all-50 strategy is very cunning."
"Then... why are you helping the class? I don't understand."
Shit... he is taking interest in me.
And nothing good will come out of this interest for me.
Afterall, I don't want to enter the political world.
"I take back my offer. You are an idiot if you don't get it. I guess, even idiots think of something genius once in their lives.
Stay away from me, pervert."
"Hey. Why are you calling me pervert?"
"You are more of an idiot than I thought. Do you even need to ask when you hang out with such people?
Go get a life. I am stressed enough because of that greedy idiot sensei.
Using kids to increase her salary!? This school is a scam. It is no way an elite school!"
I shouted as we crossed the wending machine.
Maybe intentionally.
And Hoshinomiya was also coming from the front.
Maybe that's why too.
I huffed, shot Ayanokoji a glare, and left.
All according to the plan.
Hehe~
