Chapter 53: Blood for nature
The news we disclosed to the Damocles brought some sort of discomfort, of course we couldn't be sure that this interference in mana was fruit of the elves' effort, but we all couldn't think of anyone alse capable of such level of manipulation, such that even Odysseus and I couldn't resolve.
The jet, in full emergency protocol, started its erratic descent and after a few minutes of terrifying vibrations, I felt a spell coming our way.
Looking out of the window, I saw an ice spear flying at us at full speed. I blinked out of the jet and immediately casted my fire lilies of destruction to intecept the attack, only to feel my casting circle being invaded by foreign mana.
These bastards were trying to cancel my spells, a thing I was training to accomplish my self.
Not giving them time to accomplish their feat, I quickly overloaded the circle with Archana, my flowers shot towards the spear and a huge explosion took place. I blinked back inside the jet and started willing fire to take the shape of birds.
"CONCEAL YOURSELVES. I'LL DISTRACT THEM."
Everyone's breathing changed in response of my order, Yudher was shocked to see even Hali and Odysseus using the family technique, but decided to stay silent on the matter.
As the jet continued its descent, my flaming birds weaved around ice spears, the heat melting the opposing spell and slowly but surely, rendering it useless. My diversion soon proved effective as we were able to land more or less safely.
I turned towards the Damocles and ordered them to keep the state of concealment and to not go out of the jet for whatever reason, then with Odysseus and an horrific Hali by my side, got out to meet our offenders.

-Hali's POV-
Elves, mother fucking elves, disgusting creatures, monsters, trash of the world, treacherous fiends. I'll fucking kill you bastards all, fuck.
My mind was clouded. All I could think of was vengeance. These monsters were the most disgusting thing the world had ever given birth to. Even demons were more reasonable in my book.
Those disgusting creatures thought of humans as nothing more then toys to play with. Sacrifices for their fucking sacred tree.
They were the real threat to humanity, forget the time fissures. These atrocities with their over fucking powered mana control.
I'm still angry because Dimitris let that bastard in the dungeon go.
I stayed silent that time only because even I hadn't ever fought against someone using dark magic and seeing that being prostrate before Dimitris was satisfying enough, but I still didn't agree with how he had handled the things. Dimitris should have killed him after extracting all the knowledge he did.
But this time things were different. They attacked first, even Dimitris acted immediately and I could feel his dissatisfaction.
If I had understood a thing about Dimitris, was that no matter what, never ever mess with the people he holds dear.
Maybe this time, for the first time, we could be the ones spilling these bastards blood.
"Fuckers. Reveal yourselves or I'll make you."
Dimitris voice echoed in the forest, lightning already crackling around his body and his signature spell, those disgustingly powerful red flowers, started to float around 5 different trees.
Yes. Blow these bastards away.
When his flowers threatened to explode and destroy those trees, 5 pale individuals with long silver hair, pointed ears and bloodshot eyes came to vision. They spoke elvish, but thanks to the artefact my father had gifted me for my travels with Dimitris, I was able to understand.
"You disgusting humans dare to offend nature?! Your blood will be sacrifice for it!"
They spat venomous words, but Dimitris was unfazed whatsoever.
"Oh, you fools are trying to kill the world tree!"
He nodded vehemently and punching his palm with a sense of enlightenment he asked them:
"Are you just stupid or you really think it'll work?"
At his words, the flabbergasted elves rushed into action, uncaring of their defences and started throwing ice, earthen and fire spears in our direction.
He blinked us into the sky and Odysseus rapidly created a wind platform to hold us up.
"Do you guys think you can recreate that beautiful sphere of energy you used in your match before? I don't think they are up for talking."
Dimitris nodded, he didn't seem convinced, but an order was an order for him. I however, was the happiest I've ever been.
Not only was the spell Dimitris and I created a beautiful display of power, it was also deadly.
Yes. I'll claim their life.
A devilish grin appeared on my face and I immediately started creating a water ball with my aura, rotating it at high speeds to better absorb his electricity.
Dimitris diligently filled the sphere with as much lightning as he could and started to try and stabilise it to inject even more energy. His level of control was scary, lightning was always the uncontrollable element, everyone knew it was just for pure destruction, yet here he was, controlling such volatile element like it was child's play.
Fuck, I forget because he tends to use nature magic for everything, but he really is the Lightning Bringer's son.
When I noticed he was done, I started transforming the outer layer of water into ice, sure I didn't have a master to teach me magic, but Dimitris was adamant on teaching me at the very least elemental manipulation. He didn't realise what he was doing was kind of disrespectful to his own master, but he didn't care, and neither did Merlin, so I just gratefully took the free lessons.
"Damn Hali! You realised the weakness of our spell! Good job!"
His words filled me with pride, of course I was able to see were our spell's weakness was.
His red flowers were too near the electric bomb and risked reacting without anyone noticing it.
While that flower maniac and I were busy with our combined attack, Odysseus didn't stay idle and neither did those fuckers.
With the slightest flicker of his wrist, he applied pressure to the elemental spears coming our way, deflecting them with minimal effort.
Fucking monsters. These 2 really are monsters.
Odysseus with his absurd level of knowledge on magic and disgusting ability to predict every pattern in battle; and Dimitris with his nonsensical understanding of nature boosting his fucking spells to the level of regular elemental circle.
But I too was hard at work. The divine blood flowing in me was getting denser every time I fought with these guys, especially Dimitris had started pushing me to my limits.
My control over water was terrifying and I knew that on sea I would be even stronger.
The outer layer of our spell was completely frozen and Dimitris started positioning his red flowers around our sphere of destruction with unnecessary precision.
"Hali, can you make your water paths to fill the gaps between my flowers? At the same distance from the sphere."
That was easy enough so I complied only to see him smirk with an almost demonic air to it.
"I don't know what elves have done to you, I don't even know if these elves are related in anyway, but I can't just ignore my little sister's anguish. I don't think this is the right way, but I'll indulge you this time and this time alone."
He knew everything. Even without me clearly saying anything, he was able to understand my emotions and act despite clearly being against rushing to conclusions.
A sense of affection grew within me, but this time I knew. Just like he said: little sister.
This was familial love, not what I mistook for infatuation. He was always there when I needed help the most, from the moment we met he never once dismissed any of my questions or worries. The brother I never had. The brother I didn't know I wanted.
He started filling the water I created with more electricity, slowly binding them to the water and making them stay in line. When everything was completed Dimitris let Odysseus know of our success, he then grabbed my hand and positioned our palms before the sphere.
"A cool pose for a cool attack is kinda needed right?"
He chuckled at his own stupidity and pretending like we were actually doing something together he sent the sphere of destruction to the five elves, that looking at the incoming doom started to shiver and tried to flee, only to find themselves bound by invisible wind chains.
This was it. Our combined effort was ready to bear fruits.
For how absurd it was, Zeus' son, and I, Poseidon's daughter, were working together and perfectly at that.
BO-BO-BOOOOOM DUNN CRAAACK!!!
The explosion that resulted from our attack shook the world itself. Lighting sent ice shards flying, reacted to his red flowers and created doom everywhere it blasted through. Color shimmering everywhere, reflecting through my own water and creating another layer of beauty. Red petals met with blue reflections and pale yellow lightning emitting iridescent light everywhere effectively masking the level of sheer destruction as a pretty display of colours.
When everything was done, a single elf stood, surrounded by the devastated bodies of his four companions.
A dark shriek of anguish emitted from the lone elf and Dimitris simply cracked a smile in my direction.
"We should name this thing, it's actually scary how strong this shit is."
"Later. Let's go down and finish that bastard."
The name could wait, I needed to enact revenge.
As we appeared before the wailing elf, my blood started to boil. My expression darkened. My heart frozen.
"How does it feel? How does it feel to be powerless before us? How does it feel to know there's nothing beside death awaiting you for the simple fact that you are not human? Do you realise now what all the blood you spilled in name of nature was? Do you understand how it feels to have the lives of your comrades taken as a sacrifice? For what? For a dying tree?"
The elf stayed silent, acknowledging me, but not answering. The bastard was probably still trying to figure a way to kill us, the thought that he couldn't understand me didn't even cross my mind until Dimitris started to faithfully translate each of my words not even changing a single word. He did shot me a spiteful gaze when I called the world tree a dying tree, but he still proceeded. And so did I.
"Do you know why your tree is dying? It's not because there's some supreme being corrupting it, no. It's because of bastards like you, who think they can resolve everything by just extracting life force. Well let me tell you something. The blood you spilled for nature, is the very poison that's killing it."
When Dimitris finished its translation, the crying elf was on his knees screaming for forgiveness. But I didn't listen to anything. I wasn't like Dimitris, if this decision was his to make, he'd probably sent the elf away. But both him and Odysseus knew, this was my decision to make. Mine alone.
[the Sailing Griffin offers you a contract.]
[what is sweeter then a revenge extracted with your own powers? With my demonic power I will grant you that elf's magic circuits.]
"What's the price?"
I spoke out loud and Dimitris appeared before me.
"The fuck are you talking about? Hali you can't possibly put a price on life, I won't stand for that."
"No no…" I told him about the demonic contract and we waited for the constellation to make its request.
[sacrifice all the souls of the elves you'll kill with your own powers to the 72 thrones]
"My my, I didn't know Focalor would be so lenient, I think you should accept Hali, I don't think I can stop you from killing elves forever anyway."
I nodded and accepted this demon Duke's offer. As soon as the contract was sealed reddish runes manifested all around my wrists and neck, a clear sign of the demonic contract taking place, then a man with almost beastly features appeared out of thin hair he brought both his hands inside the still alive elf retrieving his heart and a dark violet almost gaseous orb.
"It seems my lord was right, the souls of this race are full of corruption."
He then approached us, bowed slightly towards Dimitris and pushed the heart into my chest. The pain that came after that was enough to make me pass out, the last thing I remembered was Dimitris pulling me up before I could fully fall to the ground.

-Dimitris' POV-
The contract offered to Hali by one of the Dukes of Ars Goetia, did come as a surprise, but after all that started to happen around me, I knew it was only a matter of time before those demons started to interfere with my life.
Gently putting Hali on the ground I than locked on the demon butler that was harvesting the souls of the other elves.
"You don't have claim on those souls, or does the duke not respect his own contracts?"
"How dare you disrespect the duke? You are but a human!"
"Fool, if he breaks the contract it'll be his own doom. The condition was: the lives claimed through her own powers. The spell that killed all of them, was a combination of ours."
Reality hit the demon like a truck and he started trembling.
"What can I do!? I was tasked with claiming their souls!"
I chuckled a little and then pointed at Odysseus direction.
"Do you have the circuits of a king or queen? Give it to Odysseus and you can take those souls with my consent."
"Then we'll need to form a contract."
[activating skill: negative answer.]
"No, we don't. Just do as you're said and nothing bad will happen."
"Of course mr Damocles, it'll take only a second."
[negative answer: success.]
Mother, I fucking love this skill, your authority is truly magnificent.
