Dance of the Gods

Chapter 59: The Birth of the Universe

Veronica spent the next few minutes trying to find out why she had acted weird. There was no reason why she would refuse the suggestions of her heart... at least there shouldn't have been.

Looking back on the day another strange detail came to her mind. Back in the Courthouse she acted like a noble woman for no particular reason. She even felt a bit entitled to be treated that way.

Other than these two incidents there was nothing else she could recall. The whole situation was just simply surreal, it was like something altered her decision making.

After thinking for a while she came up with a very far-fetched theory. Someone was causing this change within herself. It was unlikely, but also possible.

There was so much she didn't know about the supernatural world and the specific orders of the different paths. She was hundred percent certain that there were multiple orders able to control or at least influence people.

This also caused an even crazier theory to came to her mind.

"Could the protest be influenced by someone too?... It seems unlikely since what they are protesting for makes perfect sense, but the numbers are growing way too fast. They shouldn't have reached the thousand mark within a few days!"

This thought was outright terrifying. If someone was orchestrating or at least pouring gasoline on the already existing flames of discontent, that would mean that the said person has a plan for all those people.

For the first time Veronica actually considered what that woman in the Courthouse told her. Maybe she and the Miles family should move to some place safer, where the situation is much better.

Thinking a while longer she decided to try and divine a few other things about the Theater before going to sleep.

It didn't take as long as before to enter the building, but still it took multiple tries.

She stood in front of the crooked double doors. They were leaning about 25 degrees to the left, but after a small jump Veronica entered with ease.

Strangely enough the inside wasn't like the doorway at all, instead it was perfectly aligned with the ground outside. Just looking at the double door she came in from, made her feel disoriented.

After looking at it for a moment longer she decided to try something new. She closed her eyes and imagined the doorway how it was supposed to be.

Her mind focused on the image and as she concentrated a small sound came from in front of her. Gradually she opened her eyes and looked at the perfectly aligned doorway with amazement.

She stared at her work with satisfaction for a few more minutes, then eventually closed her eyes again. When they opened she was standing in the middle of the spotlight on the stage.

For the next ten minutes she carefully articulated each of the questions she wanted answers to.

The first one being, "What's the purpose of this Theater?" She said while beginning her ritual dance.

It only took a minute to get an answer this time. A vision came to her which showed the Theater changing dozens or hundreds of times, while she watched each unique picture the voice spoke inside her head again.

"The Theater of Imagination has no purpose and yet has every purpose. It exists to serve its owner. If you try to ask it what's its reason to be, you will find non since reason could only be given by the individual not the servant." The voice sounded aloof as always, but also subservient for some reason.

"Instead of trying to lock your mind in a box to try and find an answer to an impossible question, why don't you give the answer yourself? What should the Theater of Imagination's purpose be?"

The vision ended with this question and Veronica was left standing in the middle of the stage staring ahead with bewilderment. Eventually she sighed and shook her head a bit in dejection.

While staring up at the celling she whispered to herself, "Why can't I never get a straight answer..."

For the moment she put this answer to the back of her mind and instead tried to ask her next question. Since this previous one made a few of her more specific questions redundant it was time to know more about its history or origins.

"Where did the Theater came from, who made it?" She started dancing again and in just a few seconds the answer came.

Veronica floated in the emptiness again, but she soon realized that this space was different from the last one.

When she was at that other emptiness, she knew that the darkness was caused by the distance between her and the universe. This time it was caused by something possibly more terrifying.

She wasn't outside of the universe, she was simply before it came to exist.

People made many theories in the past about how the universe came to exist. The main ones were the Big Bang, or that some God created it for fun. For this universe neither were the truth...

In front of her god knows how far away was a large blob of energy and matter. The size just simply couldn't be comprehended by Veronica, but she soon realized what it was.

All the matter and energy within the universe was locked in a perpetual state of self-destructing chaos. Just by looking at it a name came to her mind originating from her heart.

This was the Primordial Chaos, which existed before the universe...

Veronica stared at it in amazement. The patterns which the matter and energy moved were for lack of better word chaotic. Each movement was different, not a single repetition, no similarity or uniformity... Just pure chaos!

Her eyes couldn't leave the blob. She stared at it for what it seemed like eternity, but she didn't feel the time passing since this era was before time itself!

Suddenly out of nowhere something changed. For a moment Veronica was confused. She seemed to see a tiny part of the blob make the same move twice.

At first she just thought it was a fluke or maybe she saw it wrong, but then it happened again this time with a larger part!

The whole structure of the Primordial Chaos started to change, more and more part became uniform. It was the most beautiful sight Veronica had ever seen and it only became better.

For seemingly no reason everything aligned itself into perfect order...

The matter congregated and became smaller, the energy dissipated turning the structure more stable. Veronica watched as gravity and the magnetic field was born, it kept all the matter close to each other.

The whole thing got smaller and smaller, until it was the size of a human body. It was seemingly infinite lightyears away, but somehow Veronica saw everything perfectly.

Suddenly another name came to her mind, this was the Primordial Order...

When the being became somewhat stable it suddenly started to break apart. At first it was one of its fingers, then a whole hand, then went the legs and body.

It was desperately trying to stabilize, but the Primordial Chaos didn't want to give up just yet.

They started a fight of breaking apart and congregating, which Veronica watched with great interest. Slowly their movements gotten faster, everything moved with unnatural speeds, all around her reality was starting to break apart.

In her mind a huge headache appeared. Whatever was about to happen next, Veronica as a tiny human ascended of the 8th order shouldn't be able to see it.

Her world was awash with pain, it made her unable to concentrate, which also meant she could only watch in horror as both the Primordial Order and Primordial Chaos hit each other so hard that the universe was born.

In her last moments before the Theater pulled her out of the vision she saw five buildings being born.

The first, a theater which was so beautiful it could only be imagined.

The second, a cathedral so mysterious it was near ethereal.

The third, a building that seemed to be in perfect balance, it was awfully similar to a courthouse.

The fourth, a beautiful garden which seemed to contain everything that is alive inside.

The fifth, a mausoleum which held the end of everything inside, it gave off a feeling of eternal peace.

Veronica's mind couldn't process any of these new information. It was in constant excruciating pain. She didn't even realize that she was back inside the Theater and just screamed from the top of her lungs.

Inside her mind she saw the image of the battle before time and space, just the memory caused a shattering pain inside her skull.

She was bleeding from all her pores, with a quick touch she realized that small thorns were starting to grow out of her very skin.

Even with her broken mind she knew what was happening with her... She was getting corrupted.

Each seconds more and more thorns grew out and they started to get even longer.

In her last moments Veronica remembered what the voice said about the Theater and in one desperate gamble she scream at the top of her lung...

"MAKE ME FORGET!"

Within the next second she fell unconscious...
