Dance of the Gods

Chapter 64: Madam Sierra

The manager's office was possibly even more luxurious than the main room they left.

The walls were painted red, similar to the outside, but this one also included a few pink hearts for decoration. The room itself wasn't too big, but it was still way too large for its intended purpose.

To the left from the main door there was a large couch, which by glancing at it looked like it could be pulled out, making it into a makeshift bed. The couch was also very ornate, its structure was made of some very expensive wood, while the cover's material looked to be of some rare animal's leather.

To their right there was a small fireplace with two armchairs in front of it. There was also a small cigar table with a large tray of expensive and rare liquors on it.

At last Veronica was about to look forward, but her eyes caught a glimpse of something above her. She glanced up and got very disoriented for a moment. Above her the whole ceiling was made up of a gigantic mirror, reflecting everything in the room.

She looked at it for a while, but quickly got snapped back to reality, when a feminine purring voice came from in front of her.

Finally she looked away from her reflection and stared at the woman sitting behind a large, very expensive looking desk, with lots of little ornaments and mementos all over it.

"What do we have here? Alex, did you brought me this little bird as compensation for that awful experience I had to go through in the morning... Oh, you shouldn't have... What's her name?"

Madam Sierra was a mature woman, but she didn't show it on the outside. Just by looking at her eyes, Veronica had a feeling that she was much older than she seemed.

She looked to be about the end of her thirties, but Veronica judged her to be already approaching her sixties.

This fact didn't make any difference of course. She was certain that this woman was possibly the most beautiful being she had ever seen.

Her lightly tanned skin shimmered in the low light of the room. Her eyes were like two magical lakes, which were reflecting the world back on itself. Her hair was like a waterfall of black locks, they weren't braided and just flowed down below her elbow.

She wore a dress that was elegant, but also revealing. Its style was more free, similar to the sex worker women outside of this room. There was one big difference though... well, two actually.

This woman's breasts were so large, Veronica was waiting for the moment when they would pop out from the large opening the let everyone take a glimpse between them.

Veronica's face burned when she realized how much time she spent watching the woman without even introducing herself, but judging by the satisfied smile on her face, Madam Sierra took it as a compliment.

"We are in fact here because of the murders, and no this young woman isn't for your establishment. She is helping me catch the killer." Answered Alex, while Veronica was still speechless.

"That's a shame. She looks really good and I can tell by the way she walks, that she is certainly flexible... *sigh* Shame indeed." Madam Sierra spent a long while looking Veronica up and down, which didn't help get the deep blush off of her face.

Deep down Veronica was a bit concerned if Madam Sierra actually managed to guess her path, or maybe she was walking a bit too comfortably, which caused the suspicion to appear.

After thinking about it for a few seconds, she decided to just ignore the remark all together. It wouldn't do her any good if she confirmed any of the woman's guesses.

"Could you please enlighten us on the murder's details so we could be on our way?" Asked Veronica, but Madam Sierra straight up ignored her.

"Well, Alex. You see, your people caused quite the headache for me. Dying in five different rooms, around the same time. Those dumbass Lawbringers spent most of the day interrogating me! For some reason they thought I was behind their murder!... How, preposterous of an accusation!"

Looking at the woman, Veronica raised an eyebrow in disbelief. In her opinion the accusation wasn't even remotely preposterous, it actually made quite a lot of sense.

"Cut the act Sierra! Did you had anything to do with my people's murder or not!" Alex was starting to lose his patience, but Madam Sierra just laughed light-heartedly.

"Oh, Alex you are always so cute when you are angry."

Veronica was starting to get more suspicious of her, why else would she straight up ignore the question?

Slowly Madam Sierra stood up from her large leather chair and walked towards the tray of alcohol.

"Would you like some refreshments?" Her voice was still cheerful, which further annoyed both of them.

She poured one glass for herself, then she went back to her desk and leaned on it.

"Can't you just start talking, so we can be done here? Or are you perhaps involved that's why you aren't saying anything?" Asked Veronica, but just like before Madam Sierra ignored her.

She took a long sip of her drink than smiled at Alex.

"Hey, why don't you send your friend away, so we can talk privately." She stood up and leaned close to Alex, whispering into his ear. "We can even have fun, like old times!"

For a moment Veronica looked concerned, but not because of Madam Sierra. It was pretty obvious from the beginning of their conversation that there was some history between the two.

What caused her concern is Alex's wrathful expression. He would lose his patience at any minute now and it seemed like Madam Sierra wanted exactly that for some reason.

Watching his hand, she could clearly see him constantly touching his firearm waiting for the moment to pull it out...

The moment never came. Veronica made sure of it.

Taking a quick step forward she snatched the drink out of Madam Sierra's hand and threw it straight at one of the walls. It shattered with a weirdly silent bang. Only now did Veronica realize that the whole room was soundproofed.

Less than a meter away in front of her, Madam Sierra giggled a bit, which caused her very large breasts to jiggle.

Veronica stepped away with a deep blush on her face, but she didn't dare to look away from her.

"That was nice. You are a feisty one aren't you. *sigh* I could really use someone like you working for me. It would make my job a lot easier... How much?" Veronica looked at the woman with confusion, not understanding what she was referring to.

"How much what?" For some reason Alex started to sweat next to her and Madam Sierra just laughed.

"For you of course! How much money do you need to begin working for me?"

"Why would I work for you? Do I look like a whore?" Veronica was starting to get angry. She wasn't looking for a job, especially one that would involve her body!

"Oh, of course not! You are an ascended, that makes you much more valuable than any of the riff-raff outside!... How about 50 gelt per week? Does that sound nice?" At this point Alex had enough of hearing the woman's voice.

"I think we both heard enough. If you don't plan on giving us the answers we need, then we will leave. It was awful seeing you, just like always!"

He began walking towards the door and Veronica followed close behind. She didn't know much about this woman, but she sure as hell wouldn't be working for her, no matter how much money she offers.

They left behind the brothel with disappointment and headed back to the inn.

...

Inside Madam Sierra's office there was mostly silence. She was standing near a window watching as Veronica and Alex got on a carriage.

Looking at the beautiful female who's name she didn't even know, the woman felt a bit annoyed.

"Did she consider your offer?" Asked a feminine voice from behind her. Glancing back over her shoulder she stared at the woman who stepped inside just moments ago.

Her hair was the color of blood, not natural of course. The eyes were dark, close to black in color.

She was dressed as one of the whores outside, but her bearing was much different. Instead of alluring it was the exact opposite, terrifying and angry.

"No, as far as I know she already works at some place else. Since she's with Alex, that means she most likely has a job at the Miles Inn." The woman in the doorway had a small deathly smile on her face.

"Should I take care of them too?"

For a moment Madam Sierra seemed to contemplate the offer, but eventually she just shook her head.

"No, not yet at least. First I want to see if I can do something that will get her to work for me... I already have an idea." The look in Sierra's eyes was possibly even scarier than the mad person in the doorway. It was the eyes of a woman who thinks she can take everything she wants to.

The woman looked a bit disappointed, but Madam Sierra's next words brought a bit of dark light back into her eyes.

"Don't worry. In the meantime just kill some civilians in the Dirt District. Things are getting serious with the protest, no one will miss a few stragglers. But make sure that the Item I gave you works properly!... If that idiot Alex manages to divine you, we are fucked!"

The woman in the doorway didn't say anything else, just walked away with a large smile.

Madam Sierra spent the next few minutes looking outside, then sat down to her desk and began writing a letter.

'Dear Director Isaac,

I found some very serious evidence of...'

While writing a satisfied smile appeared on her face and she even began laughing while looking at the finished letter.

"This is going to be fun!" She whispered to herself, then put the letter into an envelope and gave it to Eileen at the reception to forward it to a postal worker.
