Chapter 50: The Twins : Black and White
"Ah-h!"
slash!
In the academy hall, another instructor fell with a sharp cry, their voice cutting off mid-sound as my blade found its mark.
Blood spattered the walls, pooling on the moonlit floor.
I moved forward down the corridor, my hanfu soaked crimson at the edges, my sword still dripping.
The cries and muffled sobs of cadets echoed faintly from behind the closed classroom doors. They were too terrified to even think of intervening.
I hummed a low, eerie tune as I walked, the notes filling the silence with a haunting presence.
Reaching the principal's room, I knocked lightly, the sound oddly mocking in the eerie quiet.
"May I come in, sir?"
I asked with a chuckle, pushing the door open without waiting for an answer.
Inside, the room was dimly lit by the moonlight streaming through a crack in the heavy curtains. The air was heavy with the scent of iron.
On the desk, slumped over a pool of his own blood, was the principal....already dead?!
"What the…? Did he just…?" I muttered, my voice trailing off in frustration.
"urgh...Fuck...!!"
I had planned a little "chat" before sending him on his way, but he killed himself .
"How disappointing," I sighed, pulling back the curtains to let the moon fully illuminate the room.
Looking out at the quiet, empty streets below, I murmured,
"Thirteen minutes. That's all it took to silence this place. Chaos turned to peace. Funny how quickly it all happens."
Reaching into my hanfu, I pulled out a burner phone and dialed Ryuuchi.
RINGING...
CONNECTED---------
"Big Boss, are you okay?!" His panicked voice came through the receiver immediately. "I told you it was a bad idea! Should I send someone—"
"Calm down, Ryuuchi. I'm fine," I interrupted, keeping my tone calm.
"Whew, thank God. I was worried, Big Boss," he exhaled, the tension in his voice easing.
"Listen carefully. I'm done here. Send someone with a good camera."
"..."
There was silence on the other end.....
"Hello? Ryuuchi?"
"Huh? Y-Yeah, Big Boss," he stammered, his voice trembling with dread.
"You....finished? As in....you actually—"
"Yes," I cut in. "I wiped out the instructors and the Doves. This academy's done. Do you understand me?"
"I—Yes, Big Boss! I'll be there with a camera right away!" he blurted out, his tone shifting to sudden resolve.
"Wait, no need to—"
DISCONNECTED---------
I sighed, slipping the phone back into my hanfu.
"He's too eager. Whether it's loyalty, curiosity, or both, I'll never know," I muttered, settling into the principal's chair.
The bloodstained leather was cool against my back as I stared out at the calm, moonlit sky.
~The CCG won't stay quiet~ Ddraig warned. ~They'll send reinforcements soon.~
"I know," I replied. "Let them come, I should be gone by then"
Barely five minutes passed before the sound of hurried footsteps took me out of my thoughts.
"Big Boss…"
I turned, genuinely surprised. "Ryuuchi? Already....?"
He chuckled nervously. "I was nearby on an errand, so I thought I'd come myself." His lie was obvious, but I let it slide.
"Fine. Take the pictures and spread them—legacy media, streamers, influencers.
Make sure the world sees what happened here before the CCG covers it up as simply a ghoul outbreak or other silly stuff"
My plan is to send this info so the weak will pull back from CCG with Fear.
As most annoying thing in battles is the cannon fodder.
Even though they lack any real skill against high lvl ghouls, they sure are annoying to kill as they are too many.
This should make the upcoming events after the plot begins to be lot easier for me.
"Yes, Boss, on the way I-" he nodded, pulling out a camera.
Just then—
SWIIIIISH—BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOOOM!
Explosions rocked the academy, sending walls and ceilings crashing down.
My ears rang as I instinctively shielded Ryuuchi, shifting rubble with a surge of Qi.
The academy blew up, the sirens and chopper whirling sounds along with screams fading in and out as regained my focus.
"...cough..you good?"" I asked, helping him stand.
"Y-Yeah, thanks to you, Boss," he replied, wincing. Blood stained his face, and his clothes were torn, but he was alive.
I used Qi to protect us but it seems I was not fast enough.
"The CCG…" I muttered, scanning the wreckage. "They bombed the site the moment they arrived. They don't care who's inside…"
I froze, remembering the cadets. "The children!"
Spreading my Divine Sense, I located most of them safe behind the barrier talismans I'd placed earlier, but others nearby weren't as fortunate.
My barriers couldn't hold the impact.
Grim-faced, I moved quickly as approached the rubble with Ryuuchi, working together to clear the debris.
As the last of the larger pieces were moved aside, children began to emerge—injured but alive.
sigh...
It was a relief.
'They're safe…' I thought, my tension easing slightly.
But then, movement caught my eye.
From the shadows beneath the rubble, two cloaked figures emerged, standing protectively over the children.
My senses sharpened as I observed them more closely.
They were distinct and striking pair.
The first was in all white cloak, one sleeve extending fully, and wore a white mask with black horizontal stripes.
Her snow-white hair fell over her shoulders, framing her figure in the moonlight
The other stood as her opposite, a black cloak with the opposite sleeve extended, a matching white mask marked with vertical black stripes.
Raven-black hair cascaded down her back, a stark contrast to the pale moonlight.
I extended my hand to help them climb out of the rubble,
'Ghouls?...' My eyes widened beneath the Oni mask,
'No...Half Ghouls!' I realized as they came in full view.
I smiled as I recognized this Iconic Twins....
'....Omoshiroi....'
