Chapter 177: C157(1)

When Optimus Prime was astonished to learn that the Justice League had mastered high-end interstellar teleportation technology, the Decepticons on Earth had already begun their silent operations.

Starscream, accompanied by Brawl and Blackout, rushed to the Hoover Dam.

They moved with incredible speed, covering the distance from their original military base to the dam in under ten minutes. The area was bustling with tourists and vehicles, yet no one suspected that deep within the Hoover Dam lay a secret base belonging to Sector 7.

Had Starscream not infiltrated the military base, connected to its computer network, and taken advantage of Blackout's attack on the Qatar base to download classified data, he wouldn't have been able to locate Sector 7's base so quickly.

Hovering above the mountain ridge near the Hoover Dam, Starscream surveyed the area.

"The AllSpark is here," he declared, descending from the sky and transforming into his robot form. He turned to his companions.

"It's time to act, Decepticons!"

Meanwhile, at the Hoover Dam, Sector 7's head, Tom, had just left the White House. However, instead of departing, he waited outside. A few moments later, Keller exited with a grim expression, clearly in a foul mood.

"Mr. Keller," Tom greeted him, stepping forward. "What did the President say?"

Keller glared at him, his face dark with displeasure. "Tom, you weren't honest with me."

Tom sighed, realizing the issue. "The research on the AllSpark is the greatest secret of Sector 7, even more critical than NBE-1. The circle of people privy to this knowledge is extremely small."

"And you think you can create a mechanical army?" Keller demanded.

"No," Tom replied, shaking his head. "Not anymore—at least, not since we encountered Batman and the Transformers."

"What are you trying to say?" Keller asked, frowning.

Tom spoke gravely. "We discovered the AllSpark in the last century, and we've spent decades studying it. At first, we knew nothing about its capabilities. Only in recent years, during the technological revolution, have we managed to make minimal use of it. Just as we were about to demonstrate our progress, alien robots appeared—beings with far greater knowledge of the AllSpark than we could ever comprehend."

"Even Batman casually identified the AllSpark by name and explained its origins. That terrified me. It made us realize we've grossly underestimated its power."

"Fear? The President doesn't share that sentiment. If anything, I see ambition in his eyes," Keller scoffed. "If you hadn't laid the groundwork for him, he wouldn't be so resolute now."

"Ambition or not, we're wasting time here. I need to get back to the Hoover Dam base immediately. Are you coming with me?" Tom asked.

"Of course," Keller replied.

The two boarded a car and set off, but only minutes later, they returned to the White House with urgent expressions. Knocking on the President's office door, they entered without waiting for an invitation.

"You again?" the President said, startled by their sudden reappearance.

"There's a problem!" Tom exclaimed through gritted teeth. "Mr. President, the Hoover Dam base in Sector 7 is under attack!"

"Not by unknown assailants," Keller added grimly. "It's the Transformers—no, more specifically, the Decepticons!"

"We need to mobilize the military immediately," Tom urged. "We can't let the Decepticons breach the base!"

"Damn it!" the President muttered, visibly shaken.

The Hoover Dam base was under attack by the Decepticons. Inside the White House, the President urgently contacted the military, issuing orders for immediate mobilization and a counterattack.

In an instant, the military base near the Hoover Dam burst into action. The atmosphere felt charged, as though laden with explosives, and the air seemed thick with the anticipation of battle.

White House

Keller and Tom stood face to face.

"Should we notify Batman?" Tom hesitated.

"No need," Keller replied, visibly resigned. "The military committee believes we can handle this. Besides, while they didn't explicitly say so, it's clear they want Batman's focus on containing the other faction of Transformers—the Autobots. They don't want the Autobots interfering in this fight. And so far, it seems Batman is doing just that."

Tom nodded reluctantly. "Okay."

A galaxy far from Earth, within Technodrome

Anton, seemingly detached from the events on Earth, was nonetheless well aware of the situation. After all, that was the purpose of maintaining the cyborg: monitoring.

Through the cyborg clone, Anton learned from the conversations between Keller and others that the Decepticons had pinpointed the location of the Hoover Dam and launched their attack.

He was taken aback. Switching perspectives through the cyborg, he observed the Hoover Dam and quickly noted that communications in the vicinity of Sector 7 had been severed. Things were escalating faster than he had anticipated.

Additionally, Anton's cyborg clone had intercepted discussions from the military committee.

"You don't need to notify Batman—just keep him busy with the Autobots. Our army will deal with the Decepticons."

Anton wasn't surprised. This sentiment had been entirely expected. The military didn't want to rely on superheroes for everything. Allowing Keller to work with the Justice League had likely been a strategic decision rather than a tactical one.

"Batman, what are you thinking?"

Optimus Prime's voice pulled Anton out of his thoughts.

"Nothing," Anton replied, looking up at Optimus Prime. "I thought we'd have more time—at least a day and a half. But it seems the Decepticons are smarter and faster than I expected."

"Oh?" Optimus Prime's optics glinted with realization.

"Optimus Prime," Anton said decisively, "summon the Autobots. It's time to act."

Turning to the cyborg clone, Anton added, "The Hoover Dam coordinates have been locked."

The cyborg clone's expression remained stoic as it addressed Optimus Prime. "Provide the coordinates of the other Autobots, and I will gather them and head to the Hoover Dam."

Inside the White House

Despite the escalating crisis, neither the President, Tom, nor Keller had succumbed to despair. Their confidence stemmed largely from preparations made in the aftermath of the alien invasion of New York.

The Sector 7 base had been fortified with a battle-hardened special operations team and advanced weaponry, designed to repel alien threats until reinforcements arrived.

This team included soldiers like Lennox, who had survived the Decepticon attack on the Qatar military base, along with his subordinate, Epps, and others.

Their experience and firepower gave the military committee and the President reason to believe they could manage this assault.

However, their confidence was rooted in limited understanding of the enemy. Neither Tom nor Keller fully grasped the terrifying power and cruelty of the Decepticons from Cybertron.

While they had witnessed the cyborg engaging the Decepticons, they failed to comprehend the full extent of the Decepticons' capabilities.

After half an hour had passed, no one in the White House had received a report from Sector 7.

Nearly thirty minutes of silence.

Suddenly—Zi Zi Zi!

The call was restored.

"How is it?" Tom asked anxiously, unable to contain himself. "What's the situation? Are you all okay?"

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before a voice, heavy with shock and grief, finally replied, "Sorry. We were too late. The Hoover Dam... the Sector 7 base... it's been reduced to ruins. It seems the entire force has been wiped out."

Completely annihilated?

Tom and Keller exchanged a horrified look, disbelief etched on their faces.
