Chapter 210: C182

To die?

Sitting in the driver's seat, Anton used a few tricks to ignite the fire truck's engine. When he heard Pepper's call from the comms, he rolled his eyes.

"You don't know anything. Just stay there!"

Anton didn't bother explaining further. After issuing the command, he slammed the accelerator, the fire truck screeching into a sharp drift before roaring back to where he had come from.

Pepper watched the fire truck disappear into the distance, her gaze shifting to the chaotic scene ahead, where the sky lit up like fireworks. Her expression was laced with worry.

To her, Anton driving the fire truck back seemed nothing short of suicidal. It made no sense. Still, she couldn't entirely dismiss her concern, even if her instincts told her it was madness.

If Anton was hell-bent on throwing his life away, all she could do was wish him well.

But Tony always came first.

Shaking off the distraction, Pepper reached for her phone. Reinforcements had to be called—now wasn't the time to dwell on Anton's reckless choices.

At the Expo – The Largest Booth

Electro, Harry, and Eddie—who had just transformed into Venom—charged onto the battlefield. The air shimmered with blue light as Electro unleashed his devastating power.

Max, a.k.a. Electro, was proving far stronger than Harry or Eddie had anticipated.

His mutation had turned him into a living capacitor, capable of storing nearly 10 million volts of electricity—far more than a hundred Pikachu combined.

In essence, Max had become a humanoid power bank—or, more accurately, a human-shaped battery.

But even he wasn't without flaws. Like any power source, his energy wasn't limitless. Once depleted, he needed to recharge before continuing to fight.

This stored electricity significantly enhanced Max's physical strength and speed.

He could unleash devastating electric shockwaves, control any machine reliant on electricity, and even transform into pure current to move through powered devices.

This last ability gave him a distinct edge in battle. Moving through charged objects at high speed was akin to the way artificial intelligence exists in networks—similar to the villain Grid from Justice League or Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Max could zip through circuits, covering vast distances almost instantly, making him nearly impossible to track.

Though not quite as fast as those fictional counterparts, his mobility was still formidable.

Crackle!

Max dashed into a set of exposed wires, reappearing fully charged and glowing with an intense blue light.

"Cut off the power nearby!" Harry yelled, turning to Eddie.

Venom snarled in reply, his face hardening as he recognized the tactic. Harry, familiar with Max's abilities thanks to data collected by Oscorp, explained: "He's using the wires to move and recharge. If we don't stop him, we're toast."

Harry's knowledge came from a blood sample taken when Oscorp initially captured Max. He had also seen Max escape through a lab socket, disappearing entirely in a flash of light.

Max overheard the plan and smirked coldly. "You won't get the chance!"

With a wave of his hand, he unleashed a shockwave of electricity. Bolts of lightning shot forward like arrows, targeting Venom as he moved to sever the power.

Venom twisted away just in time, narrowly avoiding the deadly charge. Max's voice followed him, filled with venomous rage.

"Why are you helping Oscorp, Venom?" Max sneered. "You pretend to be some hero. Is that what Batman taught you?"

His tone turned accusatory. "How can you not know the filth Oscorp hides? The things they've done?"

Eddie, now fully Venom, didn't bother concealing his identity. His silence only fueled Max's fury as the battle raged on.

Moreover, ever since the Life Foundation incident, Eddie's identity had been exposed to a select few. It wasn't exactly a secret. Now, Max had seen Eddie transform into Venom with his own eyes.

While Max didn't know Eddie's last name, he was well aware of Venom's identity. Venom, the superhero and official member of Batman's Justice League, was not unfamiliar to him.

However, Max's warped mindset left no room for rational thought. Instead, he seethed with rage.

"You're all the same!" he spat. "Batman! Superhero! Justice League! What a joke! Dead! You're all dead!"

With each word, Max's fury mounted, the blue electric arcs around his body crackling louder as the energy within him surged to its peak. At that moment, he looked almost godlike.

"You're insane, Max!" Harry shouted, his voice sharp with exasperation. Then, glancing at Eddie, he spoke firmly. "You keep looking for an opening. I'll keep him busy."

With that, Harry stepped forward, positioning himself opposite Max. He raised a hand, curling his fingers in a clear taunt. Come on, then!

The taunt hit its mark. The unstable Max, incapable of ignoring the provocation, responded immediately.

He sent a flurry of electric shockwaves crackling toward Harry. Each bolt was like a streak of blue lightning, raining down in an unrelenting storm.

However, despite his rage, Max wasn't entirely reckless. His gaze remained fixed on Venom, who was stealthily moving toward the power switch.

Any sign of Venom making contact with it, and Max was ready to abandon Harry to attack him instead.

The intense battle dragged on, with neither side gaining a clear upper hand.

Boom!

Suddenly, the sound of an approaching vehicle broke through the chaos. The three combatants turned toward the noise.

A fire truck sped toward them, its siren eerily silent.

Max's face remained stoic, but Harry and Eddie exchanged confused glances.

"Is that… Anton?" Harry muttered.

It was. Anton was at the wheel, driving the fire truck straight onto the battlefield.

"What the hell is he doing?" Eddie hissed. "Does he think he's going to take Max out with a fire truck?"

The fire truck screeched to a halt just short of the group.

Boom!

The driver's side door slammed shut as Anton casually stepped out.

He surveyed the battlefield with disinterest, taking in the shattered booths, the debris-littered ground, and the occasional blue sparks erupting from wires damaged by Max's magnetic field.

His gaze landed on Venom and the switch they'd been working toward. He quickly assessed the situation, piecing together Harry and Eddie's plan.

"It seems I arrived at the perfect time," Anton remarked, strolling to the fire truck's water outlet.

With an easy smile, he connected the hose and added, "All this trouble to flip a switch? You could've just called me. This guy's no big deal."

Max's expression twisted in fury. He could hear the condescension dripping from Anton's tone. Watching Anton move so casually, showing no fear, was an unbearable affront.

"You think you can deal with me?" Max growled, his voice low and venomous.

Anton's disrespectful, nonchalant attitude was the ultimate insult. For someone like Max—obsessed with his own power—being dismissed was the greatest humiliation of all.
