Dc: Start Female Superman

Chapter 57: Chapter 56

Kara, with physical abilities far beyond that of a normal person, didn't possess the so-called regenerative healing factor seen in the comics. If it weren't for her fear that Bruce might discover her biggest secret, Ra's al Ghul wouldn't have even lasted through the first round. Kara would have decapitated him at supersonic speed.

Finally, when Ra's mistakenly thought Kara was distracted, he made the biggest mistake of his life. Kara grabbed his foot and slammed him into the control panel like a whip or a school bag.

Now, Ra's was unrecognizable, and identifying his remains later would be a difficult task.

Kara dusted off her hands, indifferent, as she walked back to the center of the train, next to the dangerous machine.

Glancing at Bruce, who was busy trying to figure out how to shut off the machine, Kara commented casually, "I told you from the beginning this thing made no sense."

As the train passed by, the water in the underground pipes, tens of meters away from the viaduct, evaporated. Yet neither she nor Bruce, who were standing right next to the machine, were affected at all.

Moreover, Ra's and the others should have died long ago from being so close.

Bruce rolled his eyes. "If you have time to complain, why don't you help me? Those guys clearly had no intention of turning it off. They destroyed the switch controller."

Kara shrugged, unsheathed the sword she had brought with her, and started walking towards the machine.

Bruce, alarmed, quickly stopped her. "What do you think you're doing? Don't act rashly, I don't want to die because of you."

After all, this was high-tech machinery. Messing with it recklessly could easily trigger an explosion.

Bruce, being a regular human in a mask, agreed with Ra's on one thing: if the machine exploded, he wouldn't survive.

Kara gave him a condescending look. "Who do you think I am? After you left the university without a word, what do you think I was doing? I read all the books in the Metropolitan University library."

Bruce frowned at her arrogant tone but remained silent.

Kara turned her attention back to the microwave emitter, quietly activating her x-ray vision to see through the machine. She quickly located its main hub.

Every machine has a central control point, much like a computer's power supply. If the core components are damaged, the device won't function.

Without hesitation, Kara, moving faster than Bruce could even perceive, struck the machine with her sword, precisely hitting the hub and destroying it.

"Zzzz..."

The microwave emitter made a sharp sound and slowly shut down.

Bruce exhaled in relief and collapsed into a nearby chair.

Kara withdrew her sword, noticing it was stained with the blood of the four people she had decapitated, along with some residue from the machine. Instinctively, she wiped it clean on her cape.

"I'm not going to wash it for you, and that's the only suit you have," Bruce warned.

Kara froze momentarily, glared at him, and then reluctantly let the sword fall from her hand.

She had clung to the sword up until now, but in this moment, she let it go without hesitation. She was done.

Bruce frowned at her casual attitude. Was she always this indifferent? At least she had the sense to stop before doing irreparable damage.

Bruce wasn't being petty, but that cape wasn't just for show. His suit, after all, was worth more than a few million dollars, and the cape was part of his gliding function, not a meaningless accessory.

That sword might have cost thousands, but the price of the cape could easily exceed a hundred thousand dollars.

Kara slumped into a nearby chair, stretching with satisfaction. "Finally, it's over."

With her arms wide open, she leaned back in the chair and stretched with intensity.

It had been a busy night, even for someone like her, and she felt a little tired.

But at the same time, she was enjoying herself.

Suddenly, Bruce, sitting nearby, turned his head to look at her, casting a glance towards the control panel where faint traces of blood could still be seen.

He had pieced things together and couldn't help but ask, "Wasn't there another way?"

Kara knew what he was referring to. "You're asking why I killed him?"

Bruce didn't respond, but his silence was enough to confirm his question.

Kara sighed, dropping her casual attitude. She wasn't a child anymore, though it still excited her to put on a mask and become the so-called "Oracle."

But at that moment, Kara took off Batman's helmet, revealing her true face to Bruce.

She knew there were no cameras on the train, so she wasn't afraid of being discovered.

"Bruce, he wanted to murder millions of people.

I know we stopped him, but what if we hadn't? Millions would have died, and Gotham would have been destroyed.

Even if we spare him now, he'll come back. You've told me about what they've done before. How many people died in Gotham during the Great Depression? He needs to pay for that."

Kara looked at him, her eyes sincere.

Bruce, in turn, removed his own mask. The two of them knew each other well, or at least Bruce thought so.

"But we're not judges, we're not even the police. We don't have the right to execute someone. In fact, what we do is technically illegal," Bruce replied firmly.

"Then you should have stayed home from the start. You shouldn't have put on that suit, and you shouldn't have stopped this. If you believe criminals deserve leniency and that superheroes are the illegal ones, you should have let Ra's destroy Gotham, and then watched him ruin the whole world. It wouldn't matter if he killed billions, since we're breaking the law anyway, right?"

Kara mocked Bruce's logic.

Since when had superheroes become the criminals, and the villains the ones in the right?

Bruce frowned deeply. "Kara, your thinking is dangerous.

I never said that criminals deserve support or that their actions should be normalized.

What I'm saying is that we can fight crime, but if we use violence to counter violence, then what's the difference between us and them? In the end, you'll find that killing a criminal is much easier than arresting them, and when that happens, how are you any different from Ra's?"

Was Ra's truly evil?

Maybe what he did made sense to him, but his approach was wrong. He believed Gotham was beyond saving and wanted to destroy it to start anew.

But his mistake was that he was willing to kill innocent people in the process.

Now, Bruce feared that Kara would eventually become just like Ra's.

Kara remained silent for a moment, and a name popped into her mind: Injustice Superman.

Was she becoming like him?
