Debuffed Farmer

Chapter 20

“What.”

“Hey now, don’t be so belligerent. I just helped you with your problem.”

“I didn’t say I wouldn’t answer you, imbecile. I said ‘what’ as in, what is your question?”

“It sounded very angry.”

She repeated what I said with a nerd voice.

Oi, I don’t sound like that.

Anyways, onto more serious business, Clara is still as single as she was before and Yuki is significantly more single. Now that the serious business is out of the way, I have to ask her about Realisers.

“Where can I get a Realiser?”

“You don’t simply get a Realiser. Most of the rich have one put in them when they’re very young. Others save up for decades, and only if they want to become members of the military.”

If that’s the case, it might take me a millennium before I save up enough. I’d have to get a job as a clerk or something.

However, she continued.

“I don’t know why you’re asking me that. Are you trying to get one for Seria?”

“No, for me.”

“Are you retarded? I can’t tell if that’s meant to be sarcastic or not.”

“What do you mean.”

“You’ve already got one.”

Huh?

I’ve already got one?

A realiser?

That can’t be true, can it?

“How do you know?”

“I can sense the EM-waves around you. That’s why I was so confused when you were asking me about all that stuff like you didn’t know anything about it.”

“Really? I don’t remember getting a Realiser.”

“I don’t know either. But you definitely have one.”

“How do I use it?”

“Seriously, I’m not here to give you a lesson. I don’t even see you as a friend. But you know, you already seem to be making EM-waves, just concentrate and try to convert more.”

Concentrate and try to convert more.

“I’m only helping you because you seem like you could be useful to me in the future.”

Well, a reason’s a reason, I guess.

“What would you say if I said I enjoy your company.”

She made a disgusted face before pretending to gag. Then, she made the gesture of a finger gun before putting it up to her temple. In an instant, her face then returned to the listless yet subtly mocking face that she always has.

“I’m sure you could’ve guessed my response.”

“You didn’t have to exaggerate it.”

“I didn’t. But don’t be too offended, I don’t like being with anyone. I don’t even like being with Yuki most of the time.”

“Aren’t you just socially inept?”

“If that’s how you want to interpret it. It fits an idiot like you.”

We’re getting off-track.

I needed to concentrate on converting d-waves to EM-waves. Alright, time to focus—

“I’m back, Rin! Oh, what are you doing here, Clara?”

“I was just talking with him about Yuki.”

“What happened to Yuki?”

Ah, it’s not very easy to concentrate here.

“According to Rin, her boyfriend broke up with her.”

“Rin? How does Rin know.”

“He just assumed based on what I told him.”

“What did you tell…”

Anyway, I’m sure you can guess the rest of the conversation yourself. Slowly separating myself from the two gossiping maidens, I made my way to the park that I visited with Clara the day before.

Now, I needed to focus on producing EM-waves.

Suddenly, I could feel a sapping sensation on the edge of my skin. It was like a mixture between the static electricity you feel on a metal slide and an insect crawling on your skin. It wasn’t necessarily that uncomfortable but definitely weird.

I guess the concentration of EM-waves around me must be increasing. I didn’t really know where my limit was though. It felt like I could almost go on forever.

I felt the sensation grow—ow.

Suddenly, there was almost like a burning pain all over my body.

What the hell?

Maybe when the concentration is too high, it hurts the body? I didn’t know, maybe I just exerted myself too much.

A few moments later, Seria and Clara made their way over to me.

“How’d you go. Did you manage to form EM-waves?”

“Yeah, after a little while, it felt like my skin was burning.”

“A normal person can only handle around 60% EM-wave to d-wave concentration around their body before it begins to hurt. Wait, show me how much you can make?”

I concentrated and converted some EM-waves.

The awkward sensation gathered around the edge of my skin once again.

“Fuck.”

I heard Clara’s voice. It was just beginning to burn my skin as well.

“What is it?”

“That’s much denser than what a normal person can manage. I’m guessing it’s around 85%, since that’s my tolerance.”

“Really, I guess I’m a prodigy.”

“I hate to admit it, but it is rather rare.”

Oh boy, I’m surprised that I’m capable of that despite having all these debuffs. Actually, now that I bring that up, I do have combat experience gain debuffs. That seems to imply that I can gain experience from combat.

I tried to punch Clara.

It went about as well as I expected.

My face was quite firmly planted in the dirt.

“Why did you even try that.”

“I wanted to see if I could gain experience.”

“Why are you talking like this is some video game? Go fight some monster in the jungle if you want to ‘gain experience’.”

“I’m surprised you’re so knowledgeable on that topic. Hold on, how do you even know about video games?”

“Okay, I know you’re from a different world. But can you please take a moment to ponder with common sense before asking questions?”

Did they have like arcade machines or something here? I assume they wouldn’t be rocking a Nvidia RTX 4060 with a 34-inch monitor running Fortnite at 120 FPS.

Anyway, that wasn’t all that relevant.

Even if I could gain experience from fighting, all the debuffs would make it obsolete anyway.

Although, it might be a good way to earn some money.

“Clara, are you registered as an Adventurer?”
