Chapter 33
I just wanted to tell her that she was beautiful.
I never got the chance.
It was your fault~
…
The external factors didn’t allow for it.
If you really loved her, you would’ve said it.

“I don’t suppose you’re hiding something, Clara~.”
“What makes you say that?”
The mysterious blue-haired girl slowly stepped toward Clara. Her movements were clean and enchanting, with her dress flowing almost hypnotically through the air as she moved. After getting a slightly better look at her face before, she had really big eyes and a childish face—in complete contrast to the mature black-haired girl. She was more the cute than the sexy type if I had to explain it simply.
Kneeling down a little, she stuck out her hand.
“I know you know something I don’t~,” she sighed.
That was an unnecessarily confusing statement, but it seemed that Clara understood it at least.
“How can you say that?” Clara responded.
“I don’t want to waste my time explaining it to you. I’m smarter than you, let’s just leave it at that, why don’t we~?”
“Shut it with your condescending talk.”
“It’s the truth. Even you can admit that, right? Or are you dumber than I thought, Honour Student?”
There was a moment of silence.
In this world, there was always the bigger fish. I don’t actually have anything to add to that, I just want to sound philosophical to fill this weird gap in dialogue. Ah, I wish I was in an elite high school with cute girls who don’t want to kill me randomly and live a normal life.
Giselle turned back to me.
“You, what was that ability of yours?”
“What?”
“That was a God’s Blessing. What is it.”
What?
These fantasy elements are getting layered too thick. I didn’t even know what half the concepts in this world were.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“Don’t tell me you don’t know.”
“I don’t. I don’t even know what just happened.”
She suddenly hopped back and sat on the table. Swinging her legs a little, she looked up at me with her large opal eyes. Despite appearing like an innocent little girl, there was an overt sense of craziness in the way she looked at me. It wasn’t like Clara who had more of a calculated craziness.
This girl was just unpredictable.
“Okay then, boy. I’ll explain your ability to you then. I’ve mostly figured it out, anyway.”
“Really?”
“No. It’d be annoying to just drop exposition in this way.”
What the hell? She was capable of introspection and self-awareness? This is bad. At this rate, I won’t even be narrating the story anymore.
“No but can you actually explain it to me? I’d like to know.”
She giggled.
“You’re a weird one. Aren’t you scared of me at all? All your friends are huddled up back there.”
Well, in situations like this, I’m meant to say something like—it’s because you’re so cute—or something like that and then we start a romcom. But maybe that wasn’t the best thing right at this very moment. I was just curious.
If you really wanted to kill me, I’d be fucked. So what’s the point?
“I’m just interested.”
“Oh? You’re similar to my cute little honour student.”
“I’d say she’s more sexy than cute.”
Giselle burst out in laughter.
…
“Ahahaha, did you hear that, Clara?! That’s amazing. Okay, I apologise. But it’d be a bit weird to call her my ‘sexy honour student’ doesn’t it?”
“I guess it does have some weird connotations.”
“Haa, you’re right about that. Anyways, you’re pretty funny so I’ll give you a little rundown.”
I listened attentively.
“I tried to stab you before and I couldn’t. When my blade was about to hit your body, it seemed to have travelled through without a hitch. Why is that? Simple, you’ve got portals—or more accurately, teleportation. It’s a God’s Blessing™.”
The new term was still not really explained. But it did seem to fit with my vibe; my Oasis transportation ability wasn’t exactly consistent with this world’s mechanics.
“So what’s a God’s Blessing?”
“The name explains itself.”
“Where does it come from?”
She sighed and turned back around.
Oh shucks, I must have asked too many questions. Maybe I should go check on Clara—be a white knight and all. Actually, that might not work. I’m not exactly that strong.
Giselle’s footsteps echoed through the silent guild hall.
…
“Anyways, Clara, I expect that you’ll explain what you know about the situation. I know you’re friends with Yuki, isn’t that right?”
Clara suddenly looked up in shock.
“W-what?”
“You think I don’t know about Yuki? You’re not exactly discreet with it.”
“Don’t you dare do anything to her.”
“Or what? You’ll give me a slap on the wrist?”
Clara began to pull herself up from the ground. Before she could do so, Giselle stepped forward and kicked her into the wall. There was a loud thump as rubble rained down from the ceiling. Little bits of dust fell on her head as she gasped for air.
“Don’t even think about it. I’m not joking here. These orders are non-negotiable. I assume you know what to do, Clara.”
“I-I… can’t trust you at all…”
“What does that have to do with anything? Can’t you see this is transactional?”
“W-what… do you even want to know…?”
She was still recovering from the pain as she held her side. Looking up angrily from the ground, she stared at the blue-haired girl.
Giselle simply stood and laughed.
“You know what I want to do. There’s only one thing the higher-ups want to know about.”
“That’s not true… I don’t know what you want, Giselle.”
I could feel the EM-waves building in pressure around Clara’s body. It seemed as if she was going to fight in vain again.
Ah, what was this situation. I was just trying to buy a house and now I’m caught in the middle of this incident.
Maybe I’ll just sneak away or something.
