Demon Slayer: Strength Gained with Every Swing of the Sword

Chapter 23: Chapter 24: The Flower Demon – Hua Zhi Zi

The little boy's face twisted with terror as he trembled and said, "Big brother... he... they're coming... they want to take me and my father to be eaten by that monster..."

"Big brother... what should we do..."

"Don't be afraid, just trust me," Feng Yu said softly.

Bang!

The door was forcefully opened.

First entered a group of people with vacant expressions, clearly under some kind of enchantment.

Then,

A man walked in, dressed in luxurious clothes but with a grotesque appearance. His face was covered in purple pustules, and his emaciated body almost made Feng Yu think he was a Demon.

"This family disrespects the Flower God. Take them away, all of them, to receive the Flower God's blessing!" the man said hoarsely.

Immediately, the bewitched crowd began to advance on Feng Yu and the others.

"No... no... let go of my father... you've all been deceived by this man... wake up!" the little boy screamed, his voice hoarse with desperation.

"Big brother... please save my father..."

As the boy's unconscious father was being carried out of the room by the mind-controlled people, the boy shouted at Feng Yu, his voice breaking.

But Feng Yu remained still, allowing the men to tie him up with ropes.

"Rather than seeking out that demon myself, it's better to let it come to me..." Feng Yu thought.

So the three of them were carried away, bound and helpless.

Along the way, Feng Yu noticed that both sides of the street were now filled with people, all with the same vacant, dull expressions. Occasionally, their faces would contort into expressions of madness.

"This demon certainly has some power..." Feng Yu mused.

"It almost feels like the Second Moon of the Twelve Demon Moons..."

"Could this demon be connected to Doma?" Feng Yu thought.

"That wouldn't be impossible..."

The little boy could only look at Feng Yu with teary eyes, his mouth gagged, hoping for a miracle that would save him and his father.

"It's over... it's over... this man can't save my father... I shouldn't have involved him..."

"Sorry..."

The little boy, seeing that Feng Yu was also being bound and carried away by the mind-controlled people, felt overwhelmed with guilt.

Sensing the boy's emotions, Feng Yu smiled slightly, signaling that there was no need to worry.

But to the boy, it felt like something else entirely.

"This big brother is comforting me even as he's about to die... Such a kind person... How could I have caused him harm..."

Feng Yu was unaware of the boy's thoughts. Right now, he just wanted to meet the demon as soon as possible—he was in a rather awkward position, after all.

Although he could easily escape the ropes, he knew that he had to endure and not scare off the demon.

Finally,

The three of them were carried to a dilapidated temple in the mountains, where they were thrown harshly to the ground.

Feng Yu was fine, but the little boy let out a low groan.

"Flower God, the disrespectful ones have arrived tonight. Your faithful followers will take their leave and not disturb your purity," the ugly man in charge said as he knelt before the ground.

Then Feng Yu noticed that a stunning red flower had appeared before the man.

The man then spoke reverently, "We will leave now, Flower God."

The group of people left quietly, leaving Feng Yu and the boy abandoned on the ground.

"Is it coming?" Feng Yu thought, his hand subtly tightening, ready to strike at any moment.

But after a while, nothing happened, making Feng Yu start to doubt what kind of demon this really was.

Could it be that it's not hungry?

But Feng Yu knew better. It was more likely that the demon had recognized him as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, which made it wary.

After some time, Feng Yu noticed the faint scent of flowers in the air.

Frowning, Feng Yu realized that while he was unaffected, the little boy had already fallen into a deep sleep.

"A hypnosis technique..." Feng Yu deduced.

"So, this means you're coming now, huh?" Feng Yu thought, his face growing colder as he controlled his breathing, pretending to fall asleep.

The temple fell silent, but after what felt like an eternity, the demon still hadn't shown up.

"This is just a coward. Why doesn't it come out?" Feng Yu thought angrily.

Eventually, he heard the sound of footsteps.

"Is this the Demon Slayer Corps? Hahaha, they're all knocked out by my Hua Zhi Zi," a voice echoed.

"The flesh of Demon Slayer Corps members must taste delicious, I can't wait to feast!"

The voice belonged to a woman—a hideous Demon with a vibrant three-colored flower on her forehead. The colors were purple, red, and white, and her decaying hands reached out greedily toward Feng Yu.

"You've finally shown yourself, huh? I've been waiting for you a long time," Feng Yu said coldly, opening his eyes slowly. As he moved, the ropes binding him snapped apart.

He stood up, and with a flick of his wrist, the black sheath of his Nichirin Sword appeared in his hand.

Hua Zhi Zi, startled, reflexively leaped onto the temple's beam, looking down at Feng Yu with terror in her eyes.

"How... how is this possible? You... you didn't fall asleep... that was my most powerful Blood Demon Art..." she stammered, her eyes wide in fear.

"You guess," Feng Yu said with a chilling smile.

"Now, let's see how well you can enjoy this."

If Tanjiro were here, he would recognize this expression on Feng Yu's face—it was the same one he had worn when tormenting Tanjiro himself.

Hua Zhi Zi was about to be struck with the Nichirin Sword.

"Don't come near me!" she screamed.

"Blood Demon Art: Dream Flower!" she shouted.

The flower on her forehead immediately turned a deep purple. The same scent of flowers that had previously filled the air began to permeate the temple.

"Is that all you've got? Show me everything, or you'll never have another chance after tonight," Feng Yu taunted.

"Looks like it has no effect on him... That means all my Blood Demon Arts are useless against him... What should I do? I'm going to die... I can't let that happen... I must escape... I still want to see that person..." Hua Zhi Zi thought frantically, already preparing to flee.

But Feng Yu, seeing her attempt to run, leaped in front of her, blocking her escape route.

"What? You want to run? Do I look that terrifying?" Feng Yu asked with a smile, the Nichirin Sword already unsheathed and revealing its vibrant green Sword.

Bang!

Hua Zhi Zi knelt on the ground, pleading, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... please spare me... I haven't eaten that many people..."

Feng Yu's expression grew darker.

"Die!" he ordered coldly.

"Blood Demon Art: Frenzied Flower!"

The flower on her forehead turned red, and Feng Yu felt a light pressure in his head, as though something had struck him.

"Impossible! When I used this move to ambush the Demon Slayer Corps, it worked on so many of them... How could you be unaffected? Are you a Hashira?" Hua Zhi Zi gasped, cold sweat pouring from her forehead as fear gripped her body.

"So you've killed that many Demon Slayer Corps members..." Feng Yu said, his smile fading into a cold expression.

"To be honest, I've always wanted to test whether the immortality of demons is really as powerful as they say..."

With that, he leaped forward, swinging his Nichirin Sword, intentionally avoiding Hua Zhi Zi's neck.

As he passed her, she felt her body break into countless pieces, shredded by his Sword.

"How... how is this possible..." she gasped, staring at the pieces of her body scattered on the floor in disbelief.

Feng Yu watched coldly as the pieces of her body began to fuse back together due to the demon's self-healing ability.

But as soon as they fused, he struck again, cutting the body into pieces once more.

Hua Zhi Zi was trapped in an endless cycle of regeneration and mutilation. Her mind was slowly unraveling, and in the midst of her agony, she screamed, "Kill me... just kill me... put me out of my misery..."

Hua Zhi Zi felt that her body's self-healing ability was becoming weaker and weaker. The physical torture made Hua Zhi Zi's mentality gradually go crazy.

Watching her body heal again and again and being chopped into pieces again and again, at this moment she just wanted to be free as soon as possible.

But how could Feng Yu let her do as she wished...
