Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Summoning Demons
Adrosiean did not have the time to care about the horrified gazes of the demonic cult members.
He could not understand why but this new unique taste of souls was strangely intoxicating that he could not stop. Adrosiean continued to consume at least a thousand souls until his hunger was sated.
"If I am not wrong, I would need to consume at least a hundred normal human souls a day to satisfy my hunger. It is not a lot but not that low either."
Adrosiean thought and calculated.
"I now have around nine thousands souls left in the orb of souls. It should last for about three months if I eat a hundred souls a day. But I will probably need more just in case because I might have other uses for souls."
In the game, souls were very valuable. They can be used in crafting items, making potions or even as fuels in attacks and healing.
Like corpses, souls have different values according to their level and tier. Normal animal souls were cheap and hardly worth the effort.
Souls of high tier mobs were extremely valuable. For example, dragon souls were very expensive and precious materials that can be used in many ways.
Adrosiean put back the orb of souls into the inventory and disabled the dimensional confinement.
He then turned to look at Rufardo's corpse. This was the corpse of a solar knight. A solar knight would rank barely the same as the middle tier knights from the game.
"This is the corpse of a mid tier knight. It value exceed that of normal bottom tier knights but not as good as the top tier knights. It could barely make into a death knight but it's strength would undoubtedly be weaker."
Adrosiean frowned. All of his previous death knights were made from the best quality corpses of top tier knights. It could be said that they were the most powerful death knights a player can summoned.
Adrosiean had merely thirty death knights left in his undead legion. That number was too little compared to his peak state. Adrosiean wished he had more.
Different from liches and undead dragons that need specific rare corpses, the requirement for making death knights were visibly lower.
After much considerations, Adrosiean decided to fuse Rufardo's corpse with several other corpses using corpse engineering to forcefully raise it to the level of a top tier knight's corpse.
It was cost insufficient but Adrosiean could not care much. He was severely lacking powerful elite fighters.
From the fight between Rufardo and Derroth, Adrosiean figured even Crimson Cross's best fighters like Derroth and Rexhell won't become elites no matter how great their equipments were. They still need time and experience to truly become elite fighters like Rufardo.
They were not his own summons and Adrosiean could not control them directly and raise their fighting strength like he could to his undead legion. Thus, giving them legendary grades would be a huge waste of resources with little results.
After pondering deeply for a short while, Adrosiean used several hundreds of corpses to fuse with Rufardo's and raised the remaining corpses as undeads.
Thankfully these were all the corpses of human soldiers with their weapons and armors intact. Adrosiean did not have to worry about their weapons.
They all became Adrosiean's new undead soldiers and went into the ledger of collection, filling a few pages.
"This is quite a fruitful collection. I have to thank whoever responsible for this."
Adrosiean could not help but chuckled just by thinking of how they would react if they found out that they were helping him instead of suppressing him.
"Now that everything is over, there is only one thing left to do."
No matter how much he tried to hide, the missing of ten thousands strong army would undoubtedly attract a lot of attentions. But he had no other choice.
There was no way to leave the forest with all the Crimson Cross members without being known.
Of cause Adrosiean had his own ways of concealing the demonic humans and leaving the forest undetected even from an army of ten thousands soldiers and a solar knight.
They were all normal soldiers and a single solar knight was nothing but an insignificant ant to him.
However if the whole Crimson Cross disappeared without a trace, it would surely attract attention of the whole continent.
Adrosiean cannot abandon and leave the Crimson Cross members. He still need subordinates like Derroth and Rexhell to guide him through this world.
Adrosiean would get lost if he was without any help and he would need to spend a long of time pointlessly navigating around.
It would not be easy to find another band of faithful fanatics who were fully devoted to him like these cultists again.
The whole continent was looking for him. Thus, Adrosiean needed a diversion to attract the attention of the nations.
Although it was impossible to hide, Adrosiean planned to delay the nations as much as possible by misleading them.
"This is the place."
Adrosiean stopped his footsteps. In front of him was a large lake with several streams spreading out like branches. This was the main source of water for all the animals and beasts in the forest.
Adrosiean slightly slit his palm with his dagger and extended his hand. He clenched his fist as dark red demon blood dripped down into the lake.
As a demon lord, Adrosiean's blood contained potent demonic energy. If someone drink it, they could either lose their life or mutated to a demonic being.
It was different from Adrosiean's previous demonification where he spread demonic energy and forcefully modified the cultists into demonic beings. This method was slower but more cost efficient.
Even if Adrosiean's demon lord blood was mixed and diluted, the animals and beasts who drink it would still slowly mutate and become corrupted demonic beasts because of it's potent energy.
"I am not certain this method will work. But this is the real life. Since there was a storyline about this in the game, this is worth the gamble."
In the game, demon players cannot corrupt natural environment by spilling their demon blood into lakes and rivers.
Nothing would happen no matter how much blood they pour into the water sources. The game system forbid them from doing so because it would be too overpowered.
However there was a storyline where the invading non player demon lord corrupted the natural water source using his demon blood.
So Adrosiean was not certain whether this method will work in this world or not since this was not the game but reality.
"Demon Summoning - Middle Tier : Plague Demon!"
A huge obese demon emerged from the demonic circle. Poisonous fog spreading around the plague demon like thick clouds of death. The plague demon knelt down before Adrosiean to pay his respects.
Plague demons exceed in corrupting and spreading deadly diseases. However despite being a middle tier demon, their actual combat abilities are very low. Their huge obese bodies are useless and very vulnerable in direct combat.
But the plague demons have the strongest corrupting abilities among all the mid tier demons.
They could easily take countless lives with their deadly plague if not dealt carefully. The descriptions in the game said a single plague demon is capable of purging an entire nation if not killed in time.
"Demon Summoning - Middle Tier : Abyssal Guards!"
Abyssal guards are powerful middle tier demons. They wore full black armor and wield long demonic swords.
Individually, they are far stronger than the solar knights like Rufardo. Moreover their combat strength further increased when working together.
Abyssal guards are only slightly weaker than the unequipped death knights. They were one of the best mid tier units in the demonic faction.
In the game, there were some tournaments that players were not allowed to use their equipments. In those tournaments, abyssal guards were Adrosiean's favorite summons.
The plague demon was vulnerable but with the abyssal guards protecting it, it would be harder to deal with.
"This is still not enough. I need more. Demon Summoning - Middle Tier : Cerberus!"
A terrifying three headed hound with a massive body that more than ten times the size of a hellhound crawled out of the demonic circle.
Cerberus were fearsome hellhounds that guarded the demon lord castles as gate keepers in the game. They were the same species as hellhounds but their strength was completely different.
Cerberus were one of the strongest middle tier demons. Cerberus were troublesome even for max level players. A Cerberus itself was not that terrifying.
However they command packs of hellhounds as their minions and also enhanced the strength of all the hellhounds that under them. It became tricky to deal with when they are with thousands of the hellhounds.
Finally, Adrosiean willed as he utilized the power of the Crown of Aryumaya. He gathered almost all of his remaining mana and activated his skill.
"Demon Summoning - High Tier : Archdemon (Pride)!"
Archdemons, they are high ranked demons in the demonic society and also known as demon dukes of hell.
Archdemons are very powerful. But the main thing was that archdemons can control other demons and had their own subordinates.
Unlike Cerberus, archdemons can control all kinds of demons that were weaker than them including middle tier demons. Moreover, archdemons are very intelligent and skilled strategists.
Most of the time, archdemons have their own territories in the demon world and possessed their personal demonic armies like demon lords. Archdemons were known as lesser demon lords by players.
In the game, to summon an archdemon, players had to sacrifice a legendary grade item or use a summoning type mythical item, the crown of Aryumaya.
There was also a very low chance of an archdemon coming out of the demon gate. But subduing an archdemon was not easy even for high ranked players.
There were cases of normal players with insufficient strength got wiped out because of the unexpected appearances of the archdemons coming out of the demon gates.
Even Adrosiean did not want to bother with subduing an archdemon since he can just summon one using the crown of Aryumaya.
Red lighting sparks around the demonic circle violently as a tall and handsome looking humanoid demon slowly walked out of the demonic circle.
Different from the dreadful appearances of the lower ranking demons, the archdemon had a fine appearance.
He was very good looking and adorned in luxurious clothing that made him looked more like a grand noble from the human empires than the actual demons.
The only thing that made him distinguished from a human noble was his demonic horns and the dark wings on his back.
"This lowly servant pays utmost respect to the absolute demon god of pride."
The dark wings faded away and disappeared as the archdemon knelt down and bowed before Adrosiean.
