DENIM STERLING I: The dream begins.

Chapter 15: 015 TRIALS- drills (II)

After they were all done with the long distance run, they went on to do shooting drills during which everybody would test their shooting abilities from both long range and short range, dribbling drills where they made their way through obstacles(cones) that were arranged on the floor, passing rondos where they arranged themselves in different small circles with one or two players in their middle hoping to intercept the ball before they could play it through to their teammates, ball control drills and some other setpieces like corner simulations to see how good the attackers were with their heads.

Denim was still the most impressive making it seem like he could actually do everything there is to do on the pitch, he intercepted well like a defender in the middle of the rondos, scored a few free kicks and over all did the best. The coach himself was surprised at the workrate of this tall young man and his versatility he was pretty much sure that the boy could do well even as a goal keeper.

As for the others they didnt like it and some weren't even trying to hide their displeasure especially the ones who didn't actually make any impression at all, the guys that did well didn't actually care they knew they had made a good impression themselves anyways. While some of the scouts were already pointing at him and making gestures to their friends that were there with them, drills weren't enough to get their interest they all were probably waiting to see how he would fare under match pressure.

On the stands

"Dad l think that boy looked very good throughout today" Dana A young lady that looked beautiful but foreign asked her dad in the legendary scouse accent, she was donning a nice white Nike tracksuits.

" Yeah you know what I think dana" The father who was a middle age was also wearing Nike tracksuits but black ones with a Nike face cap.

" I just think every part of his game simulation seemed spot on and he seems like a good setpiece taker naturally and he looks very relaxed"

"Hm hmm uhm Dana are you sure this is still about football" the man asked giving his daughter a scrutinizing look.

" I'm only talking about football okay, you're the one that was thinking rubbish weren't ya" she fired back.

" be patient Dana of what good is a "good" drill taker if he can't perform well in a real match"

" I see no reason why he wouldn't and moreover he looked calm and composed during the rondos" she retorted his response to her father who was already cussing the charm of the boy he knew his daughter had been nabbed.

Dana didn't pay attention to her dad again she just focused on the pitch or rather on the boy.

" what's his name" she asked her eyes still focused on the boy looking with intent.

" Well I thinks it's denim isn't it, Denim Sterling and from the earlier report it seem he is kind of well to do hmmm he's the kind that wants to play purely for passion isn't he." After a while he picked up his phone and started making calls and giving instructions through the phone to get information about denim and the other players he was interested in well every other scouts at the events where doing the the same and they were all intent on knowing more about denim even though they wouldn't make their decisions on him before the match actually takes place.

" we can't say dad everybody wants to make more money"

The father and daughter duo kept talking but one thing that didn't change was Dana's eyes that were still intently fixed on denim.

The poor boy didn't even notice and even if he did he wouldn't really care because he was intending to play for a while in the Spanish or Italian league probably 3 - 4 years before moving straight to the premier league so he wasn't really keen on any English club for now.

Without thinking of anything he picked up his bag, other players were looking for a way to freshen up before leaving but for den he felt he could just do that when he gets home anyways so he just went back to his car and drove back home. Luckily for him there was no traffic so he got home looking at his watch it was already pass 5 in the evening so he just rushed in to the bathroom and did a warm water therapy to ease himself of the stress.

After he was done in the bathroom, he walked up to his bed, tucked himself up tightly and slept off. While he was sleeping his phone rang several times but his eyes didn't even bulge.

He slept soundly till 10pm in the night and when he woke up he was feeling sore all over his body and a bit feverish and sore, when he pick his phone he saw the missed calls and decided return the calls and so he called uncle g first.

"Hey Denim whats good" he heard the much familiar voice of his uncle from the other side.

" yea I'm fine just feeling a bit feverish I suppose" he replied

"Damn you have the real trial matches tomorrow don't you"

"Yeah but I'll just call the doctor to come over, it's not that serious but I still need to be careful you know"

"Of course call him once you drop this call, and lest I forget how was today, you didn't have troubles with the drills right"

"You know that's never happening uncle g. I could do those drill with my two eyes closed"

"Stop being cheeky you're no longer a baby, now call the doctor and get yourself some treatments, I'll tell you about the latest developments once you're done with your trials but for now you have to focus" Uncle g said before cutting off the call from his side.

Denim call the doctor who came over an hour later and after ascertaining denim that it's nothing serious, he told him to drink water and get some food and gave him some drugs and then he left. After taking his drugs and eating, Denim sat outside his property by the lawn, fiddling with the green grass and thinking of life ahead and..... and waiting for the girls to come back.

" seems like my time with Alicia and Alana is coming to an end" he muttered, he knew it would be an impossible request to tell them to live all their commitments and follow him especially when it seemed like Alicia has got a boyfriend for herself. He wasn't some Jesus and he knew that very well.
