Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Destiny Pov
A part of me didn't want to trust this new girl, Sofie, or whatever she called herself. I went to the room where June and I slept last night. If only I had known all this nonsense was going to happen, I wouldn't have allowed the others to spend the night here.
June was sitting on the bed, deep in thought.
"When do you think we are going to get there?" she asked, and honestly, I didn't know.
I paused for a while, trying to find a good answer to her question, but I couldn't come up with anything.
"It's going to take a while before we get there," I replied, taking a seat beside her.
"I don't know when, but it's going to be a long time before we get there. Remember, the seven of us can't fight this alone. We need more people," I added.
"Just a little scared. It's not like we trained properly for all this," she frowned.
"We can do this. So stop thinking nonsense and let's find a way out of here," I winked.
"But since the seven of us can't fight Lucifer alone, then why did the master only pick seven to go?" June asked, and honestly, I didn't know either.
"I don't know," I sighed, moving to sit next to her.
"Because we passed the test, I guess," I added.
We were silent for a while, and I really thought what June said was making sense. But the master had to choose the best students, and we were the best.
Lex burst into my room, snapping us out of our thoughts.
"We will be going out there in a minute," he said.
I nodded, and he gave me a long stare before leaving. I missed the old times when we talked, but everything had changed because of a stupid kiss.
"Let's go downstairs," June said, and I followed right behind her.
When we got downstairs, everyone was ready to go and kill whatever that beast was.
"Are you sure you know the way out of here?" Kelvin asked Sofie, and she nodded eagerly.
"Yeah, there is a way there," she replied, while I scoffed.
"You don't like her, do you?" June asked beside me, and I glared at her.
"I don't know," I snapped.
"Well, it's obvious you don't," Camila mocked, and I rolled my eyes. It's not like I don't like her; I just don't trust her.
"When did you get here?" I asked instead, changing the topic.
"Let's just keep going," she replied, already catching up to what I was trying to do.
We were ready, with our weapons and power. We gathered around the small door leading to the underground.
"Are you ready?" Lex asked, and we nodded and went inside.
"Do I have a say in this?" Nixton mumbled as he came up last behind us.
"We all know you're a scaredy-cat," I replied, and he frowned.
We went deep. The stairs were long, but we kept going.
"Isn't the beast or demon going to attack or something?" June asked.
We ignored her and kept going. It was a dark and scary place, more like a dead end, I thought. People were lying lifelessly on the ground, dark blood everywhere.
"Something just doesn't feel right," Gold said.
"Let's keep moving. The exit might be close," Lex said.
"Why is he bossy?" Sofie whispered.
"Because he's the leader," Camila replied.
"You guys are here on a mission, right?" she asked.
"Yeah," I replied curtly.
Almost immediately, we heard strong, moving steps coming our way. We ran to a nearby stone, waiting for the beast to show.
"Give me the bone," Lex whispered, and Gold gave it to him.
"Stay here, don't move until we're done killing it," Kelvin said to Sofie, while I rolled my eyes. Is he like her protector or what?
The beast came out, looking ugly and scary. I couldn't even describe what it was. We just needed to kill it and leave this hell of a house.
I froze the beast before it could attack, and Lex gave me a questioning look. He also thinks he's the hero here, trying to do everything himself.
"So put the swords inside its heart. What are you waiting for?" I said.
Before I could say anything else, the beast was out of the ice, as if it melted itself. We all gasped in shock, and it grew ten times bigger than before.
It hit me with its long tail, and I fell, hitting my arm on a rock, crying in pain. Lex ran to me, holding my arm.
"Are you okay?" he asked, looking concerned, and I nodded.
Kelvin ran to me, holding my arm. "Are you okay?" he asked, while Lex gave him an angry look.
"She's okay," he snapped. Why was he suddenly getting angry?
"Don't worry, guys. I'm okay," I said. "Let's kill this thing," I added.
June was doing a great job hitting the beast, but the more she did it, the bigger it got.
"Everyone, stop," I said. "Don't you see the more we hit it, the more it grows?" I yelled.
Lex looked at me, then at the beast. "I won't go easy on you," he smirked, removing fire all over his body.
I saw wings coming out of his body, growing long nails, like he was transforming into something.
He flew toward the beast, pouring fire into its eyes. Before the beast could regain its sight, Lex plunged the bone into its heart, and the beast turned to dust.
We all stared in amazement. Lex was very good with swords, a nice fighter, and he knew how to use his power perfectly well. Throughout the fight, Nixton was somewhere hiding.
"You can come out now," Camila said. Sofie followed Nixton.
"You ain't useful, bro," Gold said, and we giggled.
"At least I watched you guys," Nixton smirked.
"We killed it," I said.
"You're kidding. I did most of the work," June frowned.
"By making it bigger," I replied.
"We all killed it, guys, apart from the scaredy-cat," Camila chimed in.
I looked at Lex, and he gave me a wink. I smiled at him.
