Devil's Downfall

Chapter 13: Students.

Finally they arrived at the city. John slumped William on to the floor, he has yet to wake. John grins and smacks him a few times before the enraged William jumps to his feet.

"Screw you, that hurt." William held John's arm with a tightening grip.

John shakes his head, and gestures to the gate behind him. From the outside New Clarc looks no different from any other city. High walls, intimidating guards, truthly a fortress. It's hard to imagine then, that a city of this grand scale could fall. Yet according to William's grandpa, back during the human monster war, a city dozens of times bigger, with buildings that touch the sky fell in a single night. Monster siege or black nights, happen when a leader emerges among the monsters, the leader can bring together a massive group thousands in size.

William and John trudge up to the gate, there a man wearing fine leather armor and a pompous round hat, stops them in his tracks. "Identification card." The guard said as stretching out his hand.

Outside the north wall of the city.

"Brother it's about time, I bet you can't wait." A voice beckoned.

"Yes brother, this school sounds fun." Another assured.

"But brothers, this is dangerous. What if he tries to kill you Dom." This one brings a harsh warning.

"That will never happen, Frank." A boy sat there eyeing the floor.

"True, brother Dom survived that incident, no way anybody would have a chance against him." Reassurance came.

"Just remember Dom, nobody can know about us, you'll be ostracized if they find out." The last one says with fear.

Dom chuckles. "I know."

Inside a nearby fortress.

A man in his late thirties wearing a fancy suit paced back and forth through the room. "Daughter, this is your chance, our family may have fallen, but you can make us rise again."

"Yes father." She begrudgingly agrees.

"Cassandra, remember don't embarrass us." Her mother spat, she put her fist into her palm, as if to tell what will happen if she does.

Somewhere in a hospital within the city.

"Mom, I'm gonna do it, I'll become a hero just like you wanted." His voice was strong but frail, like it could be broken any second.

His mother didn't respond, in fact she couldn't even if she wanted to, after all she is in a deep coma.

"Believe in me mother, I Alexander Higs promise this."

That week went by with little flare.

"To all staff I hope you have a great first day, we have quite a few promising students, and I hope all of you and them succeed." Saints Hand's speech ended as soon as it started, and with that the first day began.

Leo thinks to himself. "Let's see, so my homeroom class says it's class year 1 B. Great i'm given the first years, I don't think I could handle anyone higher. He said dojo number 3 right. Here we go." He enters the room.
