Chapter 8: Entrance Exam
"How did you even know I would be here." Kana became ready to strike at any moment, but when she instinctively decided to turn on her mind reading ability, she heard Kishou Arima's true thoughts.
Before he even had to say another word, Kana made up her mind. "Fine, I'll go with you."
A confused expression passed over Arima's face before quickly leaving it just as fast,
Stoic as ever, he just gave a small reply: "Hm, I see."
He then turned his back and left without beckoning Kana to follow him.
'So this bastard is going to request me to go with him, but not even give me a second glance.'
Having second thoughts about this, Kana begrudgingly followed him to wherever their destination was.

"A fucking coffee shop?"
"Watch your mouth, a vulgar tongue like that doesn't fit a little girl like you."
'One, you're only like 15 years older than me, and two, I thought we were going to the CCG! So can you blame me for being frustrated.'
Kana didn't dare voice her concerns however.
The location Kana and Arima were currently at was an empty coffee shop that was just a few blocks away. The name of it was called "Hot Scarlet" and they were sitting at window seat with two hot cups.
"I like coffee, its soothing." A small smile graced Arima's face.
"In this profession, you lose a lot of friends and are faced with some really hard choices. Coffee helps me live with the choices I've made and the friends I've lost."
"But I take it you have the ability to read my mind, so I should probably go ahead and tell you that we're also here for an extermination job." With that being said the closest waitress toward him suddenly looked back with wide eyes and threw a knife.
Faster than kana could even see, the second the knife was thrown, it shattered in the air and the pretty (and quite voluptuous too) was slashed head to toe and instantly dead. And Arima was standing right in front of the corpse with just a metal fork.
Kana's expression turned from surprise to an instant intrigue.
Incited by the actions of Arima, she jumped out of her seat and sprung at the two waiters behind the counter. Her vectors violently lashing out and ripping each of them apart, tearing the bodies to shredded flesh.
"Deduction of 10 points. Slow reaction time, and too much of a violent nature. Total points 90/100."
"Are you grading me!" Kana's shout could be heard from outside of the shop.
"In order for you to not go to the academy, you have to be given a recommendation by a special investigator. Consider this your entrance-exam to the CCG."
"I could probably kill everybody in the CCG so what's the point of grading me." A sadistic smile slowly graced Kana's mouth.
"And I could kill you faster than your ESP abilities could manifest themself."
'Seeing how fast his reaction and movement speed was, I doubt he's lying.'
"Hmph" Kana just harrumphed and and folded her arms like a spoiled child."
"Are we not going to clean this up?" Kana squatted and started to poke at the flesh bits and pieces on the floor.
"I'll call it in, and have some grade 3 investigators clean this up. It will be good practice for their stomachs." Saying this, Arima took a small glance at Kana and sighed.
"On the way to the Ghoul Investigator's Headquarters, you will continuously be graded on how well you react to situations and your ability to take out Ghouls, quickly and quietly."
In a mocking tone Kana replied with "Yes sir Captain. Anything else?"
"Don't Die. And if you do, do it quietly. I would do well without having to hear the screams of a little girl."
'Glasses Bastard'

"Final score, 55/100. Not bad, you pass."
"Huh?"
"You're only nine years old, every adult never scored over a 65."
"So now I'm an investigator?"
"No. You have one last test." Before the last word resonated in her ears, Arima's figure flickered off in the distance on the roofs of the buildings heading towards the CCG building.
"Your on, Mr. Nerd" Kana then propelled herself off the ground and on the side of the buildings. Ricocheting off of them, appearing like a pink pin-ball machine.
