Chapter 21: Nine Heart Arrow Technique
With his eyes ability, he definitely will be able to become an absolute archer who would terrify his enemies so that they never would forget.
But he was already tired and knew that the next target was two hundred and fifty metres away, which, with the power and control he currently had, wasn't enough.
So, he stopped on his own and looked at Captain Edwards for further instructions.
Captain Edward's face twitched as he tried very hard to maintain his cold and collected demeanour, but he was cursing inside.
"Fuck, where the hell did this guy come from? Is he lying with a straight face? Who the fuck can do this on their first try?"
But he had a feeling that this was the truth, and it was his first time using a bow, and because of understanding this, it made him more frustrated.
Although he was frustrated, a flicker of hope surfaced in his mind—briefly. But as soon as the thought came, it was smothered by gloom.
"Haha, what am I thinking? It's impossible. There's no hope... only despair," he muttered, a bitter smile crossing his face.
After that, he immediately returned to his calm and cold expression. "Okay, it seems you have good talent; then I will teach you some archery martial arts."
Ash smiled even though Captain Edward didn't seem to be going to teach the special archery technique that his master mentioned. He knew he could not ask for that directly; it was already good enough that he was going to teach him.
"Thank you, Captain Edward." He quickly thanked him.
"Hmm, then let me teach you an archery technique that I believe is quite suitable for you. It's called the 'Nine Heart Arrow Technique.'" Edward said, with his cold voice.
"I've noticed that you have sharp eyes and a strong ability to concentrate deeply—ideal traits for an archer. This technique will suit you perfectly because, once you've mastered it, you'll be able to shoot nine arrows consecutively. Each arrow will grow stronger than the one before, stacking up to nine times the power to completely destroy your enemies."
Hearing this, his eyes glowed brightly, as he felt this archery martial art was quite strong and didn't seem weak. Just this martial art made it worth his time; even if he later didn't learn the special archery technique, he wouldn't feel bad.
"Alright, then. Take a rest for half an hour, and I'll teach you after that," Edward said. Hearing this, Ash quickly sat down in the middle of the training ground and began to meditate, focusing on recovering his spiritual strength as quickly as possible.
Half an hour after recovering, Captain began to teach him the Nine Heart Arrow technique.
"The Nine Heart Arrow Technique is divided into stages based on the number of arrows you can shoot consecutively," Edward explained.
"If you're able to shoot three arrows, that's the entry stage. Shooting six arrows marks the small accomplishment stage, while eight arrows signify the great accomplishment stage. Finally, when you can shoot all nine arrows consecutively, you'll have reached the perfection stage."
Ash nodded in understanding, as he knows other martial arts mastery is also divided similarly.
He continued, "Okay, to begin with, you first needed to try to learn how to shoot an arrow with your internal energy in it according to the technique. As randomly infusing internal energy wouldn't give the desired result."
After saying this, Edward took out an old book from his space storage item and handed it to Ash.
"Read it thoroughly. Once you've understood it, you'll start practising and shooting arrows according to the technique." After giving him the book, he left Ash alone to study and memorize it.
"Hmm, this."
He quickly opened the book, which from the outside looked too old and torn, but when he opened it, it was brand new.
"Let's see what this technique is all about," Ash muttered as he opened the book. The moment he did, the words and descriptions seemed to shift and jumble, radiating a mysterious aura. He felt an overwhelming momentum, as if nine powerful arrows were being unleashed at once, making the hair on his body stand on end.
Time passed, and in just half an hour, Ash had read the entire book, a hundred pages in total, without stopping—as though completely engrossed.
After finishing and committing it all to memory, he felt something stir within him. It was as if he had caught a glimpse of the mysterious aura described in the technique. Closing his eyes, he focused inward, trying to understand the strange feeling.
An hour later, Captain Edward returned and found Ash sitting with his eyes shut. With a quick assessment of his aura, Edward immediately realized that Ash had changed. It was clear he had gained some insight from the original book.
The old books he gave were written by the original master who created the technique and still, after hundreds of years, have mysterious intent left within them. Learning from it can make it easier to understand, and some geniuses can get a hint of intent from it, which can be a great help for their martial arts.
This time, he was calm as he expected he would understand something from it.
Ash opened his eyes as he felt Captain Edward was coming. But now, the aura around him was a bit different; there seemed to be a mysterious power within him.
"Not bad; you seem to gain quite a lot." Captain Edward said as he looked at him, who seemed to have a hint of mysterious power of penetration like nothing could stop him.
He smiled as he indeed gained something, but it was a fraction of mystery; he needed a lot of experience to fully understand the mysterious power he understood from the technique.
"Alright, then let's get started," Edward said, breaking the silence. "Now that you've memorized, try shooting arrows using the method of the 'Nine Heart Arrow Technique.'" Edward urged him to begin, knowing that mastery would only come through repeated practice and effort.
