Chapter 26: Return
"Oh, not knowing martial arts but having Evolver-like abilities..." Ash started to think about this as he heard that.
He couldn't help but think that every being he brought back to life would have Evolver-like different abilities; if that was going to happen, then his army of servants would be strong and difficult to beat.
For now, he only had two subordinates, but both were already quite powerful. The potential of what they could achieve together excited him. However, one question lingered in his mind—could his servants grow stronger? If they could improve their strength, they would become an unstoppable force.
"I need to give you a name," Ash said thoughtfully. "As my first human servant, from now on, you will be called Morvess, Lord of Bones and Flesh." He nodded to himself, feeling the name suited the servant perfectly.
"What do you say?"
"Yes. From now on, I will be called Morvess," the servant replied, his tone emotionless yet firm as if sealing the name as his identity. He bent on his knee and seemed to bow his head like a knight bowing in front of his king.
Seeing this, he was a bit surprised, as it was too dramatic, and he couldn't help feeling weird. He was a weak scammer now being treated like a king, but it wasn't a bad feeling. Now he can somewhat understand why everyone wants to be above others and wants to rule.
Although he only had one subordinate, Ash still felt a surge of pride. He couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like when hundreds—no, thousands—of people bowed before him in loyalty and submission.
Grim also came back as he didn't need to guard and looked at the Morvess with a bit of interest. Although their auras were different, it still somehow understood that they were of the same kind.
Grim might be a wolf, but his intelligence wasn't much different from a young human child, so knowing that it waves its paws like saying you are the little brother here.
Seeing this, Ash laughed, and then the three of them made their way towards the village. But now he had to face another problem: he could bring pets, which wouldn't be a problem, but bringing humans was completely different.
He needed an identity for Morvess, especially if he wanted to enter the black iron village, which wasn't ordinary place but a village controlled by the army. 'How can anyone just enter such a place?' He asked himself.
He could indeed use his master Caine's status to allow Morvess to follow him in the village, but that would raise too many questions. He'd still have to explain to his master where he had found him or what their relationship was.
Worse, Ash still didn't know the identity of the body before it became a Nightmare Mutant, and that could lead to even more complications.
All of this was far too risky, and most lies wouldn't hold up in front of someone as perceptive as his master. In the end, the best option he had was to send Morvess outside to explore the world, learn more, and, if possible, begin building an independent force under his command.
During their talk, he understood that although Morvess doesn't have a memory of his life before transformation, he has a basic understanding of common things, and he just doesn't like to talk. He seemed to prefer to talk directly in few simple straight forward words.
Morvess should be able to manage on his own for the most part. Gathering people might be a challenge, but when one possesses overwhelming strength, there's little need for friendliness or diplomacy. Under supreme power, nearly anything can be achieved.
Thankfully, Morvess was quite strong. Judging by the aura Ash had sensed, he was likely stronger than most first-rate martial artists. With that level of strength, starting a mercenary group should pose no difficulty at all.
All Ash needed to do now was give Morvess a proper map and send him off on his journey. Within the village, he didn't need protection, and keeping Morvess here wouldn't be of much use.
For now, he instructed Morvess to stay a short distance away from the village while he went to fetch a map.
Quickly, Ash and Grim made their way to the village entrance, where they encountered Adam and Jin among a group of soldiers who seemed to be preparing to move out. The moment Adam and Jin saw Ash, they stopped in their tracks.
"Ash, you're alright?"
Adam and Jin came running toward him, smiles of relief on their faces. Both of them had been feeling anxious and guilty for leaving him behind in such a dangerous situation.
"If I wasn't alright, who is standing right in front of you?" He smiled looking at them.
"Looks like you are alright, so there isn't a need to send a soldier party." The captain of the group said and nodded before they left.
"Sorry for the trouble." Ash nodded while Adam and Jin quickly thanked them.
"Thank you, captain."
"Thank you, captain."
Most of the soldiers now know about him being the disciple of Old Caine, which is also why a small group of soldiers was ready to save him immediately. If he was an ordinary guy, how could a captain with first-rate master strength lead a group to save him?
After the soldiers left, the three of them finally had the chance to talk without interruption.
"Ash, how did you survive that weird monster? We both thought you might be dead!" Jin exclaimed, his voice overly dramatic as he threw in exaggerated gestures for effect.
Adam, on the other hand, simply nodded, his expression calm. For him, the fact that Ash was safe was all that mattered.
Ash ignored Jin's theatrics and instead asked seriously, "You didn't tell the soldiers how the weird monster looked, did you?"
Jin blinked, a little confused by the question. "Ah, no. We didn't mention that. We didn't have much time, so we just quickly told the soldiers to save you. We didn't give them any details about it."
"Good," Ash said with a nod, his expression firm. "From now on, forget that you ever saw it. Remember—you didn't see a monster, only a wild animal. Got it?"
