Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Breaking the Pattern Forest
Rushing and dashing, Cherish Turner finally finished her sketches, but she was still scolded by the editor when she arrived at the company!
The editor stared at the manuscript Cherish Turner sent to her email, her face still cold.
"I said the manuscript was due at noon, and what time is it now? Have you lost your mind?" The editor was a plump middle-aged woman, decked out in luxury brands, trying hard to dress like a cultured person, but she couldn't hide her mundane aura.
Cherish Turner glanced at her watch, and it was only one o'clock. Actually, it was only an hour later than the agreed noon deadline, not too excessive, right?
She muttered under her breath, thinking the plump editor wouldn't hear her, but she did!
"You're late handing in your draft and you still think you're in the right? Cherish Turner, I think you don't want to work here anymore!"
"No, no, Editor, I really love this job, how could I not want to do it? Please spare me this once, I promise I'll submit my drafts on time next time!"
"Hmph! You've said that countless times before!"
It seemed... that was indeed true. Cherish Turner didn't want to work here, with low pay and a heavy workload. If it weren't for the fact that people without credentials like her couldn't find a job easily, she wouldn't want to stay at all!
But if she were really fired, she wouldn't have any extra money to send to Daniel!
Cherish Turner hung her head, looking guilty, and the editor, although very angry, couldn't say much more. She simply reminded her:
"Cherish Turner, you know that you haven't been promoted yet, and by the end of the year, either you or Yara can stay. Look at her, not only is she diligent and hardworking, but also..."
As for the rest, Cherish Turner understood even without the editor saying it. After all, Yara had connections. Her father's annual advertising fees for Demon Manga amounted to several hundred thousand dollars. Though it might be a small amount for a large corporation, it was still substantial revenue for their comic society.
So Cherish Turner knew very well that if she didn't truly excel in some way, it would be difficult for her to keep her job in the end.
"Editor, I understand. I'll work hard."
"Alright, now go and fix your procrastination problem!" The editor waved her hand, and Cherish Turner left the office dejectedly.
Sitting at her desk, looking at her drawings, she felt like crying but couldn't.
She slammed her forehead on the table with a smack, so hungry for money!!!
Just then, Yara King arrived in front of her in an expensive but tacky fur outfit, wearing seven-inch heels and swaying unsteadily.
She knocked on the table, then stretched out her brightly painted red nails, and started to speak with a sense of superiority:
"Hey, get up!"
Cherish looked up and burst out laughing!
Frankly, Yara King was quite pretty, but her dressing style was so nouveau riche. The clothes she wore were completely unsuitable for a twenty-something girl and made her look much older.
"Cherish Turner, what are you laughing at? Soon you'll be out of work. I don't know what you're so happy about!"
"Who says I'm losing my job? Who's staying in the end hasn't been decided yet, right?"
Whenever it came to this topic, Cherish Turner always got agitated.
"Dream on! My dad's investment of several hundred thousand dollars isn't in vain. Do you think the editor-in-chief will keep you in the end? That's hilarious!" With that, Yara King even flipped her hair!
It was really infuriating!
Just as Cherish Turner was about to retort, a commotion suddenly erupted outside the comic society...
