Doom Verse

Chapter 10: Chapter 8: Centaurus

[Hanz]

Hanz politely knocked on the giant door leading to the Historian's room. You're probably wondering why there's another room when I mentioned there were only two doors: one leading to Hanz's bedroom and the other to the wheels. That wasn't a lie—every mortal can see only these two doors, but there are more than a hundred. One of them belongs to the Historian.

Hanz politely asked, "Can I come in?" The door opened, and the Doom Master appeared.

[Doom Master]

"There's no need to come in. We're already done." There was something different about him—he seemed to have lost part of his emotions.

[Hanz]

'There's something I don't know. Every time Master meets with this old man, I feel something is happening,' Hanz thought as he was about to leave. But then the Historian, with a hoarse voice, hissed, "When you have time, come to me. It's been quite a while since we last talked."

Hanz nodded and quickened his pace. 'I don't want to meet with him, but I have to discover what he's hiding.'

The next battle was about to start. The Doom Master took his seat and signaled Hanz to announce the participants.

Hanz took his place and once again announced the start of the battle. "Today, we witness a truly unique battle between two centaurs. In one corner, we have Tiana—despite her fearsome appearance, she's a woman who relies on brutal strength and her weapons. In the other corner, we have Surlezz, a young male who depends on his speed."

Hanz looked at the Doom Master with worry in his eyes, sighed, and then shouted, "Let the duel begin!"

[Battle]

Tiana wasn't an ordinary centaur. Her lower half was that of a black horse, and her muscular upper body, bronzed by the sun, was clad in leather armor. Her black hair hung down her back, and her croaky voice completed the fearsome image of an Amordzhal centaur.

The Amordzhals were similar to the Amazons—female warriors living on a remote island without men. Tiana, too, hailed from there, and she wanted to prove the superiority of raw power.

On the other hand, Surlezz had reddish-brown hair and a lower body. His smaller but strong muscles gave him more maneuverability, unlike the big and rough Tiana. He stood proudly before his opponent, who was twice his size. In a low, melodic voice, he declared, "Today, I'll prove that big muscles mean nothing but fear in the face of true power! You're just hiding from reality behind your strength!"

From the start, Surlezz was playing with fire, and after the gong rang, he was struck by Tiana's morning star. His ribs were broken, and he started coughing up blood.

"Now, what? Where's your bravado?" Tiana gloated, stomping the ground with full strength, causing the earth to crack. Surlezz found it harder to use his speed now.

With each step, Tiana destroyed more of the ground. "I'm going to eat you, piece by piece." Back when she was human, Tiana had been exiled from the Amordzhal's island. Every time she kills someone, she eats them. A cannibal who had been hunted, Tiana fled to the Doom Verse to continue her madness, a world with no moral principles.

Tiana raised her machete to cut Surlezz into pieces, but he threw sand in her eyes and managed to escape. Surlezz was breathing heavily. His only weapon, a bow, was broken, and only his arrows remained.

"Haaah, haaah, haaah! You missed your chance to defeat me! Now it's my turn!" With those words, Surlezz rushed at Tiana.

She swung her machete, trying to cut him in half, but he dodged and stabbed Tiana in the body with an arrow.

A pained roar erupted from Tiana's mouth. "You… how dare you harm my beautiful body!" She smashed the ground again, and the force of the impact sent Surlezz crashing into the wall.

Tiana threw the morning star, and before Surlezz realized what had happened, the bones in his arm were shattered. "Hah! Once again, where's your bravado?" she laughed and hurled her machete at him.

Surlezz, unable to bear the pain from his broken bones, couldn't fully dodge the machete, and his arm was cut off.

Despite losing a massive amount of blood, Surlezz wasn't ready to accept defeat. His adventurous spirit burned stronger than ever. He grabbed the machete in his mouth and the morning star in his left hand. With great effort, he managed to stand.

"You're using my own weapons against me? How disrespectful. Come here and show me what you've got!" With those words, the two centaurs rushed at each other. Surlezz dodged and counterattacked, but Tiana withstood the blow.

"Hmm, is that all you can do?" She punched him directly in the stomach. "How does it feel to be hit with my full strength?"

Surlezz smiled. "That's the perfect distance for me."

He took an arrow and stabbed Tiana in the eye. Once again, a roar of pain echoed throughout the coliseum. "My eye! How dare you do this to me?!"

In response, Surlezz only smiled and attacked with the machete from her blind spot. Tiana managed to dodge the first strike, but the second landed directly in her stomach. Her intestines spilled out as she grabbed Surlezz's arm. "Now what? I've caught your only arm. I've won!"

She pushed Surlezz to his knees and almost bit his neck, but Surlezz smashed his forehead directly into her nose. In pain and shock, Tiana was pushed back for a moment, and that second became decisive.

With his front legs, Surlezz struck Tiana with great brutality, hitting her again and again. Blood and pleas for mercy filled the air. Surlezz kept beating her until he was exhausted and Tiana's body had become a bloody mess of flesh and bones.

The brutal battle was finally over, but no one applauded after what they saw. Even for them, it was a disgusting sight.

[Hanz]

"Finally, the battle between two representatives of the same race is over. The winner is Surlezz. He lost his arm butmanaged to win. With great brutality he destroyed his opponent." Hanz with one gesture teleported Surlezz to the doctor's.

He looked at the Doom master, who was sitting emotionless. ' I need to understand what that old bastard is doing with Master.' Hanz though with anger squeezed his fist.

What is hidden in the deeps of the doom verse? That's a question Hanz should find an answer, and only historian holds key to the this answer.
