Douluo: AFK to Become a God

Chapter 67: Chapter 66: Prelude to Soul Hunting

In the softly glowing room, the red light casting a warm ambiance, the bedraggled and disheveled figure of Liu Erlong lay on the large red bed, her face flushed with a hint of flirtation as she gazed at Flender. "Flender, you're so amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice full of admiration.

Flender, reclining on the bed with his bare chest exposed, grinned widely, clearly pleased with her praise. "Haha, Erlong, if I'm not amazing, who else could be?" he responded, clearly basking in the moment.

Suddenly, Liu Erlong's expression shifted, and she looked uneasy. "Flender, is what we're doing wrong? What about Xiao Gang?" she asked, a hint of panic creeping into her voice.

Flender, sensing her distress, reassured her with a soft smile. "Erlong, don't worry. Xiao Gang will understand us."

Just then, a loud, rapid knock echoed through the room, followed by the familiar voice of Yu Xiaogang calling from outside, "Erlong, your husband is back! Open the door!"

Flender's body stiffened at the sound, and in an instant, the room that had been bathed in red light seemed to spin, and the scene before his eyes changed. The once luxurious surroundings vanished, replaced by a starkly simple bedroom. The woman who had been in his arms was gone, and everything had returned to normal.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The sounds of hurried knocking from downstairs, along with the loud call of Chu Chengzhou shouting, "Flender Dean, open the door!" broke through his dazed thoughts.

Flender wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, a mix of relief and disbelief washing over him. "Damn it, was I just dreaming?" he muttered to himself, still in a daze.

He quickly got out of bed and walked over to the window, looking out at the faint light of dawn. His face darkened in irritation. "What the hell, calling so early in the morning!" he yelled out the window at Chu Chengzhou, clearly annoyed by the disturbance.

If it weren't for that loud shout, he thought, Xiao Gang would have surely stayed away a little longer, and he could have enjoyed more time with Erlong. Though it was just a dream, it was still better than nothing.

"Flender Dean, I've reached level 30!" Chu Chengzhou's voice called up again, unaffected by Flender's grumbling.

"Level 30... level 30, you say?" Flender blinked in surprise. Although he had expected it, he hadn't anticipated Chu Chengzhou reaching level 30 so quickly.

After dressing, Flender went downstairs and opened the door, letting Chu Chengzhou inside.

"Your martial soul is quite special. Do you have a specific target for your third soul ring?" Flender asked, his tone thoughtful.

"Fire attribute flying soul beasts, preferably a Fire Phoenix, or a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear!" Chu Chengzhou answered without hesitation.

Having a flying soul beast would greatly enhance his safety as a long-range fighter. After all, most soul masters couldn't fly, so the advantage of turning into an aerial force was obvious. The fire attribute was also important for future metal forging, as his True Spirit Flag martial soul allowed him to convert his soul power into summoning attributes, making it convenient for metalworking without needing to stoke a fire.

There were plenty of soul beasts that met these criteria, but the best candidate would be the Fire Phoenix, with its top-tier bloodline. As for the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear, it was a rare and powerful soul beast known for its ability to challenge higher-level opponents.

Generally speaking, a soul beast at the age of ten thousand years was roughly equivalent to a five-ring Soul King. However, a ten thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear could easily tear apart a six-ring Soul Emperor, even rivaling a seven-ring Soul Saint. These creatures were so formidable that even a Title Douluo would avoid direct confrontation with them. While a Title Douluo could still defeat a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear, its massive claws had the ability to break defenses and pierce armor, making it a dangerous opponent.

Of course, obtaining such a soul beast would require Chu Chengzhou to be at least level 30 or 40 to handle the challenge. Otherwise, Flender wouldn't be able to help, unless Chu Chengzhou lowered his requirements for the beast's age.

"Fire attribute flying creatures or a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear? What about their age?" Flender asked, raising an eyebrow.

"About five to six thousand years," Chu Chengzhou replied confidently.

"Five to six thousand years? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Flender exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief.

You see, according to the best soul ring pairing, a five to six thousand-year-old soul ring was already beyond the tolerance of a level 40 soul master, let alone a 30th-level quasi-soul master like Chu Chengzhou.

"My body is strong enough to handle it. A five to six thousand-year-old third soul ring won't be a problem for me," Chu Chengzhou replied casually, waving off Flender's concerns.

"Strong body, so you can handle a higher-level soul ring?" Flender pushed his glasses up his nose, looking at Chu Chengzhou skeptically.

Chu Chengzhou nodded. "Anything below ten thousand years is manageable, but once you go beyond that, the soul ring contains the remnants of the soul beast's spirit. If your spiritual power isn't strong enough, no matter how strong your body is, it won't matter."

Flender studied Chu Chengzhou carefully for a moment, then dropped the topic, not pressing further.

A strong body? Flender couldn't help but think of the soul bones that Chu Chengzhou had refined. These items could significantly enhance physical strength.

Though Flender was greedy and stingy, he wasn't foolish enough to consider harming his own student for a soul bone.

"By the way, does the strength of your summoned beasts depend on the age of your soul rings?" Flender suddenly asked, his curiosity piqued.

Flender didn't quite understand Chu Chengzhou's martial soul. For example, the Bright Lion summoned by Chu Chengzhou seemed to have a soul skill of only about seven hundred years, but its strength was enough to overpower Dai Mubai, a three-ring Soul Master.

"My martial soul is mutated, how would I know?" Chu Chengzhou answered with a serious expression, giving a half-truth. "But after my soul power increases, the strength of my summoned beasts also increases. If there's a connection, it's probably not very significant."

Flender raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. He knew that mutated martial souls often had peculiar properties, and this explanation was reasonable enough to accept.

As for the future, where Chu Chengzhou might be able to defeat even Title Douluos with his summoned beasts, Flender didn't think too much about it. After all, even a Title Douluo could be overpowered with the right soul rings and abilities.
