Chapter 149: Chapter 148: Inviting Zhang Lexuan on a Date, Beibei the Clown
Wang Dong'er's perky rear was thoroughly reddened by Qian Ran's playful slaps.
Qian Ran realized he had a particular fondness for giving them light spanks; it was satisfying to feel the soft, supple flesh momentarily flatten and then spring back.
"You're too bold, Dong'er," Qian Ran teased as he pinched her flushed cheek.
Looking at how he had transformed Tang San's precious daughter into her current state, he felt a certain pride swell within him. Time and again, he was grateful that Tang San had delivered such a lovely partner right into his hands.
Gentle, compliant, and willing to fulfill every one of his whims—qualities you wouldn't find just anywhere. And Qian Ran had managed to find more than one. You couldn't help but feel envious.
"You made me sore…" Dong'er pouted, though she hadn't once told him to stop. In fact, she rather enjoyed it. Initially, it had been painful, but soon, it took on a pleasant, tickling sensation.
"Want me to blow on it to make it better?" Qian Ran joked.
"No!" Dong'er immediately covered her backside, mortified at the thought of him actually doing that.
She quickly jumped out of bed and dressed, with Qian Ran helping speed up her recovery with a quick healing spell. Without it, she would likely still be lying there recovering for a while.
"Wait a bit before absorbing the soul bone," Qian Ran advised. "Boosting your strength too quickly all at once isn't always a good thing."
"I know. I'm not that silly," Dong'er retorted playfully, sticking out her tongue with a sweet smile. She actually enjoyed Qian Ran's little bits of nagging; it showed he cared.
"Try spending more time with Bing Bing," Qian Ran suggested. "She's highly skilled, and you can ask her for advice if you have questions about your cultivation. She's very strong."
After days of studying spirit technology and honing her mental energy, the Ice Emperor had been somewhat withdrawn since arriving. Qian Ran attributed it to her lofty status as one of the polar kings and a near forty-thousand-year-old powerful soul beast. Naturally, someone like her would have a certain level of distance and pride.
"Is that true?" Dong'er's eyes widened, intrigued.
"Yes. She can certainly guide you. Take her out sometime—maybe shopping or something."
Qian Ran hoped she'd spend more time with the others. Bing Bing's position in his heart was assured; he wouldn't allow her to remain so solitary.
"Oh, okay," Dong'er nodded obediently. She'd trust Qian Ran's suggestions on anything. She could tell there was something special about this "girl" he'd brought back. Beneath that cold exterior was an undeniable power, and Qian Ran's opinion of her only confirmed it.
Over on Seagod Island, Beibei was taking advantage of some encouragement he had received from Qian Ran.
He had decided he couldn't lose Zhang Lexuan to Qian Ran too. Losing Tang Ya had been painful enough. He could not allow the same thing to happen with Lexuan—she was his fiancée, carefully chosen by Mu Lao himself. If she left him for someone else, it would be utterly humiliating.
Tang Ya, he had concluded, was now irrelevant. Compared to Lexuan, who was leagues beyond her in terms of talent, beauty, and elegance, Ya didn't matter as much.
"Elder Sister, may I take you to dinner tonight?" Beibei asked Zhang Lexuan, flowers in hand and a polite smile on his face, certain she wouldn't refuse. After all, Lexuan had always liked him; she'd remained single this whole time while waiting for him.
Zhang Lexuan looked at Beibei with a tinge of disappointment and loss.
She had once felt very close to Beibei, almost like family. But over time, she saw him become increasingly petty and competitive, especially since Qian Ran's arrival. If he had genuine feelings for her, perhaps she might have reconsidered him.
But she knew Beibei's motives well—it was all because of Qian Ran.
She no longer harbored any romantic feelings for him, and the thought of his competitive nature felt wearisome. What remained between them was purely sibling-like, a trace of bond from their childhood days.
"Sorry, Beibei, I've been busy lately," she said, finding an excuse to avoid him.
Beibei was unfazed. He simply handed her the bouquet.
She accepted it out of politeness, remembering that they'd once been promised to each other. Beibei took her acceptance of the flowers as a sure sign of his victory, feeling smug about it. Lexuan was just another prize—once the academy saw her as his, he'd be the center of admiration again.
As soon as Beibei left, Zhang Lexuan tossed the flowers into a trash bin.
Just then, Qian Ran emerged, watching with satisfaction. Beibei was a real clown, he thought to himself.
"Elder Sister, how about dinner tonight?" Qian Ran asked with a playful grin, seeing Lexuan discard Beibei's flowers.
