Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Arrival Ferocious Beast
Gu Yue was furious. She, the ruler of all soul beasts, had actually been injured by a mere ten-year-old soul beast. If Di Tian and the others found out, how could she maintain her dignity as their leader?
As the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yue's combat awareness and skills were undoubtedly top-tier. The reason Xia Yi managed to wound her earlier was partly due to her being distracted by thoughts of Tang Wulin, and partly because she had let her guard down against him.
Now prepared, Gu Yue activated her first soul ring. Flames enveloped her hands as she reached back to grab Xia Yi, who was still clinging to her back.
"This human is terrifying! Just two rings, and already twice as strong as that three-ring human from a year ago!" Xia Yi thought, shocked. He hadn't expected Gu Yue to evade his earlier fatal strike so effortlessly, even when caught off guard.
Knowing his own limitations, Xia Yi leapt off Gu Yue's back the moment her first soul ring lit up, diving into the nearby underbrush to evade her counterattack.
"Trying to run now? Too late! I'll peel your fur and make it into a scarf!" Gu Yue gritted her teeth in frustration. With a burst of speed far beyond Xia Yi's, she closed the distance in an instant.
Fireballs formed in her hands and launched at Xia Yi. No matter how he dodged, the fireballs followed him like homing missiles, expertly controlled by Gu Yue.
"Humans are terrifying. Just two rings, and already this strong. I've hit a wall this time!" Xia Yi cursed internally. He could tell that Gu Yue was toying with him. If she wanted to kill him outright, those fireballs would've landed directly on him by now.
Taking advantage of her restraint, Xia Yi grabbed a vine and swung away with a burst of speed.
"Are you a monkey?" Gu Yue froze for a moment, then laughed. "Fine, I'll play along!"
She grabbed a vine herself, mimicking Xia Yi's movements, and swung through the air with a grace that exceeded his. Like an elegant sprite, she quickly caught up to him.
But Gu Yue soon paid the price for imitating Xia Yi. As she reached out to grab the next vine mid-swing, a massive wooden log, thicker than a person, suddenly swung toward her.
"It's a trap!" Gu Yue realized too late. The log appeared at the perfect moment, just as her hands were transitioning between vines, leaving her unable to block or evade effectively.
Forced to release the vine, Gu Yue let herself fall to the ground. She twisted her body mid-air into a horizontal position, narrowly avoiding the log that whooshed past her head.
Seeing the log miss, Gu Yue let out a sigh of relief. If that had hit her face, a broken nose would've been the least of her worries.
"That didn't work either!" Xia Yi muttered, stunned. He hadn't expected Gu Yue to avoid his trap, even while airborne and unable to counteract effectively.
"Time to go all out!" Xia Yi grabbed another vine, swung back, and leapt toward the horizontally falling Gu Yue. His claws latched onto her right ankle, piercing through her skin into her flesh.
"Ahhh!" Gu Yue screamed as the sharp pain broke her concentration.
Clinging tightly to her ankle, Xia Yi spun her around in a circle. After building momentum, he smashed her head against a nearby tree.
With a resounding thud, the tree trembled, and leaves rained down.
"This strength... it rivals Tang Wulin's!" Gu Yue felt dazed from the impact. What shocked her even more was the overwhelming power she sensed from Xia Yi's claws.
To Gu Yue, this wasn't just a matter of surprise. Xia Yi's strength was truly extraordinary. She knew well that Tang Wulin carried the purest Golden Dragon King bloodline, and even he required years of cultivation to achieve his power.
But Xia Yi's strength—raw and unrefined—was comparable to Tang Wulin's despite his seemingly lower cultivation level. If their levels were equal, Xia Yi's power would surely overshadow Tang Wulin's completely.
Gu Yue, as the Silver Dragon King, couldn't believe any soul beast could surpass the Golden Dragon King in raw power. But the force from Xia Yi's claws made her question that assumption.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of impacts echoed like a storm.
Seizing his advantage, Xia Yi didn't let up. He swung Gu Yue back and forth, smashing her against the ground repeatedly.
It was a shocking sight.
A white fox, no bigger than a house cat, was using a human as a ragdoll, slamming her into the ground with enough force to shake the earth.
Despite his small frame, Xia Yi's strength was monstrous.
Even after twenty strikes, it wasn't Xia Yi who faltered—it was Gu Yue, her head bloody and battered. Finally, she passed out.
Leaping onto her unconscious body, Xia Yi opened his jaws and sank his teeth into her neck.
"Huh? What a delicious smell!" Xia Yi was stunned. Gu Yue's blood had no trace of the metallic tang of ordinary blood. Instead, it carried a rich, fragrant aroma, more delicious than anything Xia Yi had ever tasted.
The flavor was so intoxicating that Xia Yi forgot to deliver the killing blow, instead greedily savoring the taste.
"Dare to harm our lord? You're courting death!"
A thunderous voice exploded across the sky. The sheer sound was enough to darken the once-clear heavens.
Xia Yi, still greedily feasting on Gu Yue's blood, was instantly rendered unconscious by the voice.
From above, figures descended one by one, their auras overwhelming.
Had Xia Yi been awake, he would've been shocked to recognize them as the legendary soul beasts from the core of the Star Dou Forest.
These beasts, spoken of only in whispers, were the guardians of the forest, each boasting cultivation levels surpassing 100,000 years.
Now, these mythical beings stood enraged, their eyes blazing with killing intent as they looked at the fox that dared harm their leader.
They had come to greet Gu Yue when they felt her aura. But when they arrived they were shocked to see a 10 year old Fox bullying their Lord. If they had come a moment later Gu Yue would have died.
