Douluo Dalu (Soul Land): Villain Life Simulator

Chapter 400: Chapter 380: The Attitude of the Asura God

Qian Renxue raised her eyebrows, a trace of disdain flashing in her eyes.

Just as she was about to say something, a sudden aura appeared above Jialing Pass.

The grand battlefield on the plains below, where two armies clashed violently, seemed to freeze in time. The thunderous sound of war drums vanished abruptly, leaving the world in eerie silence.

From ordinary soldiers to powerful soul masters, even the mighty Title Douluos, none could truly sense the overwhelming aura due to their limited levels. Yet, they all saw a towering, crimson figure in the sky, terrifying and demonic. A wave of inexplicable dread washed over them.

The primal instinct to survive intertwined with the fear of death, halting everyone in their tracks.

Even soldiers who were moments away from driving their spears into an enemy's chest found their hands trembling, unable to muster the strength to finish the strike.

On the walls of Jialing Pass, Su Cheng and the other peak-level experts—some at or near the threshold of godhood—also frowned as they looked toward the giant figure in the sky.

Su Cheng retracted his gaze from above and turned to the others with a faint smile. "No need to worry. I can handle this. As for you all..."

After a brief pause, he chose not to elaborate. Instead, he transmitted a message to Bibi Dong:

"Keep an eye on things for me. Make sure they don't cause too much chaos."

Bibi Dong was strong enough, and with only Qian Renxue's dark personality emerging, things shouldn't escalate uncontrollably.

"I'll join you."

To Su Cheng's surprise, Qian Renxue suddenly stepped forward to stand beside him.

Although she had claimed this was a false world and that its fate had nothing to do with her, when the moment of crisis arrived, she still chose to fight alongside Su Cheng. On this matter, her two souls were always in agreement.

As expected, when her voice fell, a faint white flame flickered in her eyes, and a scorching, radiant aura began to rise around her.

"No need." Su Cheng patted her shoulder. "This isn't the God Realm. I can handle it alone. If I need help, I won't hesitate to ask. Right now, this is just a minor issue."

With that, Su Cheng took to the skies, reaching the towering figure in the blink of an eye.

The figure was clad entirely in crimson demonic armor, intricate and mysterious dark red runes engraved upon its surface. The Asura Demon Sword, once controlled by Tang San, had somehow fallen into the figure's grasp. Sword and wielder merged seamlessly, as if they were one. The sword itself had widened and lengthened by several feet, perfectly matching the figure's towering height of over three meters.

The dark red sword exuded not only an aura of bloodthirsty sharpness but also an overwhelming sense of indomitable power.

Around the figure, thin black cracks appeared and disappeared constantly. These were not spatial fissures but manifestations of the Asura God's defiance of the universe's rules. The chaotic divine energy radiating from him annihilated the natural energies of the outside world, creating a peculiar phenomenon akin to an "energy vacuum."

The Asura God's face was obscured by a fearsome mask, hiding his expression. Only his crimson eyes were visible—majestic, violent, yet highly restrained.

His murderous intent was as tangible as a blade, underpinned by a chilling calmness.

Facing this supreme being—one who stood at the pinnacle even among the gods of the God Realm—Su Cheng finally felt the full extent of his opponent's power.

For the first time since his journey in this world, Su Cheng experienced an overwhelming sense of oppression.

Whether in his weaker days against Title Douluos or in his prime facing divine beings, he had never felt anything like this.

Su Cheng silently marveled. No wonder this Asura God King played a pivotal role in the battle against the Dragon God. His power was far beyond Su Cheng's initial expectations—even under the suppression of the universe's rules.

Compared to Tang San, who had only inherited the "Asura God" title, the aura of this being was unfathomably more terrifying.

Particularly striking were his contradictory eyes—wild yet lucid—and his mastery of pure killing intent. Su Cheng could confidently say that even a deity like the Rakshasa God would lose control of her divine power if she dared to meet his gaze.

While Su Cheng scrutinized his opponent, the Asura God was silently evaluating him.

"So, you're the one who killed the new Asura God and Sea God?"

The deep voice was like the clash of metal, solemn and imposing, carrying an immense will that could unsettle the hearts of others.

"Why? Should I not have killed them?" Su Cheng responded nonchalantly, countering with a rhetorical question.

"..."

The Asura God fell silent for a moment before dropping the topic of Tang San altogether. Instead, he said calmly:

"Your existence disrupts the order."

"Whose order?"

"The order of the God Realm."

"And what does the God Realm's order have to do with me? I've never benefited from the God Realm nor owed it anything. Why should I abide by its restrictions?"

"This is about maintaining the universe's balance and order. As a being of this world, nurtured by its laws, if your existence threatens the foundations of the universe, you must be eradicated."

Despite Su Cheng's questioning and mocking tone, the Asura God did not grow angry. On the contrary, he patiently explained—a stark contrast to the resolute killing intent he had displayed.

At that moment, an image flashed through the Asura God's mind—the figure of the Dragon God, once unrivaled in the universe.

Who could have predicted that such a righteous and mighty existence would become a threat and a tumor within the cosmos?

"Haha…" Su Cheng laughed aloud, summoning a long sword into his hand.

"What's so funny?" The Asura God's eyes gleamed faintly as he asked indifferently.

"You're funny. That's why I laughed." Su Cheng raised his sword, pointing it at the other.

"In the end, it all boils down to power. Why dress it up with such grandiose rhetoric? You think the God Realm is strong enough, so you impose rules on the lower realms. Anything not of your kind is deemed a mistake. If you said this outright, I'd at least respect you more. After all, the law of the jungle is the most straightforward truth."

At these words, a cold light flashed in the Asura God's eyes. His aura surged, and blood-red lightning crackled around him.

"Heresy!"

"Oh?"

Hearing this, Su Cheng was genuinely surprised.

In his view, no matter how the Asura God acted—whether through power or coercion—it was understandable. But at their level, there was no need for hollow arguments.

After all, such disputes were meaningless.

Debates were for the weak.

When one's strength was absolute, there was no need for pretenses or self-deception.

"Then tell me, where am I wrong?"

"If it's survival of the fittest, what's the purpose of society and order? What sets sentient beings with emotions apart from mere beasts?"

If other gods of the God Realm witnessed this scene, they would undoubtedly be astonished.

The Asura God, known for his decisive actions, rarely spoke, let alone engaged in philosophical discussions with others.

"Society and order?" Su Cheng raised an eyebrow. "From what I know, the God Realm exists so its gods can resist the suppression of universal laws. It's merely a refuge for those afraid of death, clinging desperately to existence. And you dare claim to maintain the order of the world? What arrogance."

"The God Realm exists to ensure the universe's continuity, to fend off the Abyss's encroachment, and to safeguard the prosperity of countless beings. It is far more than just resisting suppression. The universal rules may limit my power, but they cannot erase my existence. Were it not for my responsibilities as a God King, I would have left the God Realm long ago."

"..."

Su Cheng's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the towering Asura God before him. After a moment, he spoke again:

"Interesting. Your views and reasoning are different from what I expected. Let me ask you this—why was it acceptable for the inheritors of the Rakshasa and Angel Gods to die, but not your inheritor? Is that your so-called order?"

"They could die," the Asura God said plainly. "But not at your hands. Or rather, your existence itself is the problem."

Su Cheng narrowed his eyes. He understood the latter part but found the former hard to believe.

"They lost to Tang San, who had dual godhoods, so naturally, you can say that. But what if Tang San had lost? What if it wasn't me but them who killed him? Would you have done nothing and allowed him to die?"

He knew just how far the Asura God was willing to go for Tang San.

If the Asura God tried to justify himself here, there would be no point in continuing the conversation.

"I would likely have intervened," the Asura God admitted candidly.

"And your rules?" Su Cheng mocked softly."Matters differ in scale. I am also one among the myriad beings, naturally harboring my own selfish desires and stance. I respect the rules but am not bound by them. However, when it comes to matters such as inheritors, I will only act appropriately and never bully the weak with my strength."

As he spoke, the God of Asura glanced downward at Bibi Dong, his gaze fleeting. "She was originally my chosen inheritor, but the Rakshasa intervened and disrupted the inheritance ceremony. Even so, I did not hold a grudge against the Rakshasa because this, too, falls within the scope of the rules."

"Why are you willing to explain so much to me?"

"You are strong. I may not win."

Su Cheng nodded, understanding his meaning.

To the God of Asura, Su Cheng was a complete unknown. Meanwhile, Su Cheng's performance earlier had demonstrated a profound understanding of the divine realm. Coupled with their relatively equal strength, this made the God of Asura wary.

It was clear that the God of Asura did not want to create a mortal enemy for the divine realm. At the very least, after their brief exchange, he sought to dispel any unnecessary misunderstandings.

Unfortunately, it seemed that the conflict between their stances was still difficult to resolve, and a battle—perhaps one to the death—was inevitable.

On the other side of Jialing Pass, the atmosphere grew strange.

Bibi Dong, Zhu Zhuqing, and Su Yue stood silently, sensing the confrontation between the two in the sky while pondering the potential changes that might occur in the future.

However, their thoughts differed.

Su Yue was still trying to piece together the clues, attempting to unravel the doubts in her heart. The series of events today had left her perplexed. For the moment, her focus on the God of Asura had diminished.

By contrast, Bibi Dong and Zhu Zhuqing were far clearer in their thoughts. They had experienced such worlds before and understood that all memories from here would return to reality.

Even so, both harbored their own concerns.

For Bibi Dong, her obstacles with Su Cheng were the greatest.

Though she had always sought to weave her web carefully, she lacked confidence. Even with some prior assurances from Su Cheng, she had little faith in the future.

Now, however, she finally saw a glimmer of hope, a light in the darkness.

At the very least, their relationship was now somewhat defined.

This outcome had been her best-case scenario from the start. She no longer demanded much beyond this.

As for Zhu Zhuqing, though displeased with the appearances of Bibi Dong and Ah Yin, it seemed Qian Renxue's perspective had shifted somewhat. If that "madwoman" could stop her antics, it might not be such a bad thing.

Unintentionally, the three simultaneously glanced toward the two figures in the distance, curious about what they were discussing.

Unfortunately, a powerful domain enveloped the area near them, seemingly connected to the land itself. Even with their divine-level strength, Bibi Dong and the others could not perceive the specifics of the conversation.

After Su Cheng left to confront the God of Asura, Qian Renxue and Ah Yin had walked aside. Eventually, Qian Renxue agreed to Ah Yin's proposal to "have a talk."

---

"Qian Renxue, the reason you constantly pressure Su Cheng to choose is that you feel secure, don't you? You are certain Su Cheng would never abandon you. If he could let go of you because of your willfulness, would you still act so resolutely?"

"Hah, I don't need you lecturing me about this," Qian Renxue sneered. "Yes, I am confident. So what?"

"I can't do anything about it," Ah Yin replied calmly, unruffled by Qian Renxue's arrogance.

"Perhaps his feelings for you are indeed special, but even so, would he abandon Bibi Dong and Zhu Zhuqing for you? Bibi Dong once saved his life. With Su Cheng's personality, he wouldn't ignore such a bond.

"If you want to keep acting this way, then fine. Honestly, I don't like you. You're more willful than anyone I know.

"If you and Su Cheng could stay apart forever, perhaps I'd never have to see your high-and-mighty face again."

"..."

Qian Renxue frowned, a discomfort brewing within her, yet she found no retort.

She had always been stubborn and disruptive, but could she truly change the current situation with such behavior?

As sharp as she was, Qian Renxue understood that the accumulation of negative emotions over time would only drive them further apart.

Everyone's patience had limits—Su Cheng's, and even her own. Love, too, would eventually erode with time.

But she refused to accept it.

She could not stand being wronged this way.

---

"Though I dislike you, I hate seeing him in pain even more." Suddenly, Ah Yin turned to Qian Renxue, her eyes cold. "As far as I know, the wound Bibi Dong received saving Su Cheng—the fatal strike—came from you. You nearly killed him."

"..."

Qian Renxue fell silent.

That strike hadn't been aimed at Su Cheng, nor could it have been.

Yet, the result was undeniable: her blow had pierced his vital point and nearly claimed his life.

Qian Renxue couldn't deny this, even if she replayed her mistake over and over in her mind.

---

A Yin's expression softened again. "Su Cheng also told you he has other enemies. Right now, he has more important matters to deal with—stronger foes to face."

"The Divine Realm?"

"Yes. Before coming to Jialing Pass, he said that once this strange dream ends and he returns to reality, he plans to challenge the order of the Divine Realm. That Su Yue is his ally."

"What's your point?"

"Would you rather see him die alongside you because of your possessiveness?"

"..."

Qian Renxue didn't respond.

If it were in the past, she would have answered firmly, 'yes.'

She would rather die than let anyone else interfere in their relationship.

But the events of Spirit City—her sword strike—had left an indelible mark.

---

In the depths of her sea of consciousness, she saw the white-clad figure of her other self, recalling the moment when Bibi Dong sacrificed herself to save her.

Though this was a false world, who could have known the Shura Demon Sword's fatal strike would not be deadly?

At that moment, the willingness to sacrifice for each other had been unmistakably real.
