Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Facing Tang Chen, Dragon Slayer Zhou Yi
"They're coming!"
"Quickly, leave!"
"Get out of here!"
Seeing Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu approaching, Bo Saixi's face turned pale with fear. Her pearly white teeth bit down on her crimson lips to suppress any sound she might make.
Simultaneously, her frantic voice echoed in Zhou Yi's mind.
It was soul transmission.
"You scoundrel... I beg you, leave quickly, okay? As long as you go, I'll do whatever you want..."
As Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu drew nearer, Bo Saixi felt on the verge of breaking down. Her transmitted plea carried a mix of desperation and anger.
She had considered escaping herself.
But her current condition made it impossible—she would undoubtedly be discovered by Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu.
Besides, Zhou Yi had pinned her down; she couldn't leave even if she wanted to.
"I'll remember those words, you know!" Zhou Yi chuckled mischievously into her ear, his mind already contemplating the new possibilities for unlocking more "skills."
"Leave now!"
Finally, amidst Bo Saixi's near hysteria, Zhou Yi rose into the air with her in his arms.
"Are you insane?!" Bo Saixi's body stiffened, convinced she was done for.
She almost cried out in shock.
Yet in the next moment, she noticed something peculiar: Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu seemed entirely unaware of their presence.
A sigh of relief escaped her.
It seemed Zhou Yi had used some method to shield them.
"This bastard—scaring me like this must be his idea of fun!" Bo Saixi silently ground her teeth in frustration.
What she didn't realize was that Zhou Yi, too, was walking a tightrope.
It was a close call to avoid being discovered.
Tang Chen was the first to step onto the massive reef. Taking a deep breath of the salty air, he remarked, "We're closer to the ocean here. The scent of the sea is much stronger!"
Qian Daoliu stood beside him, sniffing the air and noting with surprise, "The oceanic aura here is incredibly dense. Could there be something special about this spot?"
His gaze swept over the massive reef beneath them. Aside from the watermarks left by the waves, there was nothing remarkable about it.
Raising his head, he looked toward the dark, boundless sea ahead and sighed:
"Dragons are the lords of the sea. At night, no matter how formidable Zhou Yi is, I doubt he could locate or catch up with that vile dragon!"
To him, Bo Saixi's chances of survival seemed slim.
Even if Zhou Yi managed to rescue her, the romantic aura of "hero saving the beauty" would undoubtedly draw Bo Saixi closer to Zhou Yi.
Qian Daoliu's hopes were nearly dashed.
He thought bitterly about his plan to ascend as the Angel God. It seemed doomed before it even began.
"Although sea dragons reign supreme in the ocean, Brother Zhou is a man of extraordinary abilities. His martial prowess in water is unparalleled. Since he was able to subdue the hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast Demon Soul Great White Shark, I believe he can rescue the High Priest!" Tang Chen's tone was resolute.
The first time he laid eyes on Bo Saixi, he had been utterly captivated.
It was love—or rather, infatuation—at first sight.
He even found himself liking her more than his late wife.
He had resolved to win Bo Saixi's heart at any cost.
Yet before he could make his move, disaster struck her.
Plip!
Suddenly, a few raindrops fell from the sky, landing on Tang Chen's face.
Sniffing the air, Tang Chen looked up.
A massive dark cloud had unknowingly gathered above them, and the raindrops were falling from it.
Plip!
Another drop landed in Tang Chen's mouth.
"This Sea God's Island truly lives up to its name. Even the rain tastes of the sea—it's so salty!" Tang Chen licked his lips, lost in thought.
"Well, we are surrounded by the ocean," Qian Daoliu commented nonchalantly. He glanced at the dark clouds overhead as more raindrops fell onto his face and into his mouth. Frowning, he added, "The weather here changes on a whim. A moment ago, the sky was clear, but now these clouds have gathered—and the rain falls only in this one spot. What an odd phenomenon!"
"Let's go."
Qian Daoliu disliked getting wet, especially by rain that tasted like seawater.
"You go ahead," Tang Chen replied. "I want to stay here and... enjoy the rain for a while."
"Suit yourself."
With that, Qian Daoliu departed.
Tang Chen remained alone on the reef. The relentless waves crashed against the rocks, their rhythm echoing in his heart.
Rain continued to fall steadily, the icy droplets pelting his face.
"The High Priestess will be fine!" he muttered to himself.
"She is the Sea God's devotee, after all. The Sea God will surely protect her!"
High above, concealed within the clouds, Bo Saixi gazed down at Sea God's Island, particularly at Tang Chen standing solitary on the reef below. She wanted nothing more than to smack Zhou Yi, this despicable scoundrel.
All he did was torment her.
Yet she was powerless to resist, forced to endure whatever Zhou Yi inflicted upon her...
"Here, this is for you," Zhou Yi offered, handing her a silk scarf with surprising thoughtfulness.
At least it would keep her from biting through her own lip.
...
Sea Dragon Douluo and the other elites of Sea God's Island searched fervently across the island for Bo Saixi, turning every corner inside out. Though they suspected she had been taken into the deep sea by the vile dragon, they could only rely on Xiao Bai and the Demon Soul Great White Sharks for help in the ocean's vast, perilous expanse.
Each passing second felt like torment.
For Tang Chen, for the soul masters of Sea God's Island, and even for Bo Saixi herself.
Tang Chen stood like a statue on a reef, drenched in "rain," staring out at the boundless sea ahead.
Suddenly, a bright light appeared on the eastern horizon, its brilliance illuminating the ocean's surface.
The wind joined in, creating rippling waves that shimmered like silver snakes under the sunlight. The sky grew brighter and brighter.
The great sun bathed the Eastern Sea.
It seemed that the rising sun would dispel the dark clouds in the sky. Tang Chen raised his head and noticed torrential rain pouring from the clouds above, as if in one final struggle.
Indeed.
The sudden downpour stopped as quickly as it had started.
It was as though all the rain carried by the clouds had been unleashed in an instant.
"Surely, these dark clouds will soon disperse as well!"
Tang Chen greedily inhaled the sea-scented air in the rain, hoping that Bo Saixi's predicament could mirror the weather—where the clouds part to reveal the light of day.
"Tang, I can't believe you've been standing here in the rain all night!"
Qian Daoliu approached, his gaze falling on the soaked Tang Chen, who looked like he'd just taken a swim in the ocean. A hint of surprise flickered in his eyes.
"Qian, has the High Priestess returned?"
Tang Chen looked at Qian Daoliu with anticipation.
"Still no word."
Qian Daoliu shook his head, and Tang Chen's expression dimmed instantly.
Above the dark clouds overhead, the very Bo Saixi they longed for was tightly embraced by Zhou Yi.
His chest pressed against her smooth, jade-like back, savoring the harmony of their bodies and the fleeting tranquility after the storm.
"Xi Xi, you truly live up to your title as the Sea God Douluo!"
"Impeccable!"
Zhou Yi teased softly in her ear.
"Look below—it's your masterpiece."
The rain that had poured all night.
"You scoundrel!"
Bo Saixi weakly lifted her head and bit down on Zhou Yi's shoulder hard.
"We should return now."
Zhou Yi glanced below at Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu, withdrawing himself.
He helped Bo Saixi get dressed, then carried her limp form as they descended.
"Tang, Qian!"
Zhou Yi appeared before the two, holding Bo Saixi as though emerging from the depths of the sea.
"Zhou!"
Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu were both shocked and overjoyed. They hadn't expected Zhou Yi to truly rescue Bo Saixi.
Their gazes fell on Bo Saixi.
Her beautiful eyes were closed, her delicate face flushed as red as blood. Her entire body seemed soaked, exuding the scent of the ocean.
Not much different from the rain-drenched Tang Chen.
"Zhou, how is the High Priestess?"
Tang Chen asked with concern.
"The High Priestess is fine!"
Zhou Yi said calmly, "She was buffeted by the sea breeze, repeatedly struck by waves, and suffered a great fright. Her spirit and stamina are thoroughly drained, and she has fallen into a feverish coma."
"I've already treated her. As long as she gets proper rest, drinks plenty of water, and replenishes her energy, she'll recover soon."
"That's wonderful!"
"Zhou, you're truly remarkable!"
Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu marveled, astonished that Zhou Yi had returned Bo Saixi unharmed.
Upon hearing the news, the Sea Dragon Douluo, Sea Horse Douluo, and Sea Maiden Douluo hurried over.
Seeing Bo Saixi's flushed face and fevered state, they cheered in relief when they confirmed she was fine.
"Martial God, what about the evil dragon?"
"That beast was incredibly fast and managed to escape!"
Zhou Yi initially wanted to claim he had killed it, but he decided to leave the dragon alive for potential future schemes.
Still, even this outcome excited the Sea God Island soul masters.
They had all witnessed the dragon's terrifying power—its casual attacks had overwhelmed even Bo Saixi, Tang Chen, and Qian Daoliu, all of whom were Pinnacle Douluos at Rank 99.
Yet Zhou Yi had repelled it and rescued the High Priestess.
Truly extraordinary.
The crowd surrounded Zhou Yi, who was carrying Bo Saixi, their cheers fervent and ecstatic:
"Martial God!"
"Martial God!"
"Martial God!"
Zhou Yi held Bo Saixi's soft, delicate body, basking in the worshipful gazes and fervent cheers of the Sea God Island soul masters as he strode forward.
Bold and majestic.
Like a dragon-slaying hero rescuing a princess…
Tang Chen, drenched and dispirited, watched Zhou Yi being celebrated by everyone, his emotions a tangled mess.
He felt like a defeated rooster!!!
