Chapter 60: Shock Among All

After Yang Ping'an completed his assessment, an instructor quickly escorted him away, clearly marking him as a student of special focus.

Now it was Yang Potian's turn to undergo the entrance test. As he approached the testing instructor, the teachers around him couldn't help but stare. At a height of 1.7 meters, Potian looked nothing like a typical 12-year-old. His robust frame, with broad shoulders and muscular build, seemed far beyond his years, especially when compared to Yang Ping'an, who was already tall for his age. But Potian's physique was truly extraordinary.

The testing instructor held Potian's arm, examining him carefully. Finding it unusual, he even used his soul power to probe further, taking longer than usual for the test. Finally, he announced, "Yang Potian, bone age 12 years—test cleared."

Hearing this, the students nearby were astonished: Twelve? How could a 12-year-old be that tall and muscular?

Next, another instructor came forward to test Potian's martial soul and soul power. Potian summoned his Breaking Spear as requested and then placed his hand on the testing crystal.

As Potian channeled his soul power, the crystal sphere lit up and then… cracked.

The instructor was stunned. In all his years administering entry exams, he had never seen the testing crystal shatter like this.

"Sir," Potian said, "could you bring out a crystal for Soul Elder levels? I'm currently at that rank."

Hearing this, the instructor looked at Potian in shock. Potian's age had already been verified as 12, yet here he was, requesting a Soul Elder-level crystal. A 12-year-old Soul Elder? That was unprecedented. Still in disbelief, the instructor borrowed another crystal and watched as Potian placed his hand on it. The crystal glowed brightly again, confirming his soul level. With shaking hands, the instructor hesitantly announced, "Yang Potian, Breaking Spear martial soul, soul power level 35."

At these words, everyone present—especially the instructors—was left in shock. They had seen countless students over the years, but they had never encountered a 12-year-old at level 35. This was indeed unheard of. A 12-year-old Soul Elder would already be a record breaker, setting him up to be an extraordinary contender in the Soul Master Tournament two years from now. It begged the question: how much stronger could he become by the next tournament in seven years?

The instructors exchanged glances, unsure how to proceed. They quickly agreed that he should meet with the academy's three deans for special arrangement.

The lead instructor, Mr. Li, spoke up. "Yang Potian, please accompany me to meet the three deans of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. They will determine the best course for your training."

"Thank you, Mr. Li," Potian replied.

As they walked deeper into the academy, Potian noticed fewer people around, likely because the other students were already training in the simulated environments. After a few minutes, they arrived at the core of the academy, where the deans' council resided in the largest building on campus. Though only one story, the building stood a full ten meters high, indicating its significance.

Inside, three elders were already seated, waiting. Judging by their auras alone, Potian could tell they were Soul Douluo level experts. The three of them must be the academy's deans. They seemed calm but radiated a strong presence, clearly seasoned experts in the field.

Instructor Li respectfully greeted them, "Deans, I've brought Yang Potian."

He then introduced them to Potian: "These are the deans of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. The head dean is Dream God Machine Douluo, the deputy dean is Baibaoshan Douluo, and the third dean is Zhiling Douluo."

Potian stepped forward and respectfully greeted them. "Honored to meet you, Deans."

The three deans nodded in return. Given their abilities, they could gauge Potian's level with ease.

Dream God Machine Douluo addressed him first. "Yang Potian, welcome to Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. As one of our students, you may know that we're already preparing for the upcoming Soul Master Tournament in two years. Would you be interested in joining our academy's Heaven Dou battle team?"

Potian took a moment to consider before replying, "Dean, while I am honored, I feel I currently lack battle experience. For this tournament, I think I would be better served by further training on my own. But I'll commit to joining the team in the next tournament."

Dream God Machine Douluo looked at him thoughtfully. "If you joined our team, you'd gain real combat experience and teamwork training. Wouldn't that accelerate your progress?"

"Dean, I have already mapped out a training regimen for myself that I wish to stick to, so I'll have to respectfully decline for this tournament. However, I'll be more than prepared to join the Heaven Dou team for the next one."

The dean's curiosity was piqued. "Yang Potian, you have impressive abilities, but securing a championship is no easy task. It requires the cohesion and cooperation of a full seven-member team."

Potian's tone was firm. "I understand, sir, but I'm confident in my abilities to lead a winning team. I only ask for two conditions."

"What conditions?" the dean asked.

"First, I want full control over selecting my team members, with no interference in my training plans for them. And secondly, I want us to be registered as the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team."

"Do you already have team members in mind? And why the second team?"

"Sir, I'm from the Breaking Clan, and as you know, there are five of us from the single-attribute clans in Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. With the addition of a few friends, we'll be a complete team. The second team also allows us to gain valuable experience in the preliminary rounds."

Dream God Machine Douluo considered this for a moment before replying, "I'll need to discuss this with the other deans and our sponsor before I can give you an answer. Do you have any other requests?"

"Yes, could I be assigned to a private residence? I prefer to train alone without distractions."

"That can be arranged. Li, please see to it that Yang Potian is enrolled in the Tiandou class, and make sure his accommodation is in order."

Li bowed respectfully to the three deans, then led Potian out of the council building.

After they left, Dream God Machine Douluo spoke up. "What do you think of Yang Potian's potential?"

Zhiling Douluo was the first to respond. "Exceptional. I've never seen a student with his level of talent. To reach level 35 at only 12 years old is extraordinary. His soul power feels incredibly refined; his potential is limitless."

Baibaoshan Douluo nodded in agreement. "He is indeed a remarkable talent. The Breaking Clan is truly fortunate to have produced such a prodigy."

Dream God Machine Douluo added, "Let's consult with the Crown Prince before we make a final decision. I'm sure he'll have some thoughts on the matter."
