Dragon Ball Human

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Return to the City and the Gift

Chapat, completely disoriented, walked through the vast and impressive garden of Bulma's house.

"Where am I? Is this a park? It's so big…"

The small police officer from Slope City walked around, trying to recall what had happened. All he could remember was receiving a notification about an unidentified object that had fallen somewhere near the outskirts of Slope City. He had gone out with his boss and colleagues to investigate, but after that, everything was a blur.

He had no idea where he was now.

And why was it so dark?

Chapat, full of confusion, walked for several minutes until he finally heard voices. His spirits lifted, and he jogged toward the sound. Through the dimming night, he could vaguely make out an older man in a white lab coat speaking with a young boy by a stream in the "park".

"…Why do you have to go back? Isn't it the same if we start here?" Dr. Brief exhaled a puff of smoke.

Yamiru furrowed his brows and shook his head vigorously. "No, it's definitely not the same…"

He thought to himself, Is this obsession of mine ever going to be cured?

In fact, Yamiru knew there was no need to return to Slope City. It wasn't necessarily any farther from West City to Paozu Mountain than from Slope City. Even if Yamiru decided to set off from West City, it wouldn't be cheating or slacking off. But what was bothering him was that he had originally planned to finish his beginner training with Jiora and then pretend nothing had happened as he returned to Slope City, continuing on his journey as if it was all part of the plan… It felt like finishing a side quest and then loading a save to go back. The arrangement was set.

But Jiora had completely disrupted those plans, and Yamiru's obsessive-compulsive tendencies started to take over. It felt uncomfortable, like something was scratching at his heart. He had to go back to Slope City.

Yamiru was frustrated. "That Jiora, he's so reckless, just up and left! He was the one who brought me here, he should at least take me back!"

"Um…" After watching for a while, Chapat hesitated before finally speaking, "Excuse me, where is this park?" He paused. "What time is it? Have you seen any other police officers like me?"

Yamiru and Dr. Brief turned to look at him.

Oh right, they had almost forgotten about him… Both of them thought simultaneously.

The next second, they exchanged a glance and both realized that Jiora had probably forgotten all about the fact that "Chapat still needs to be sent back." How irresponsible! They both thought.

"Excuse me?" Chapat asked, noticing their silence.

Yamiru suddenly noticed a large, deep shadow beneath Chapat's feet, which had appeared in the night. If it hadn't been for his sharp eyesight, he might have missed it.

Dr. Brief, with his hands in his pockets and cigarette in mouth, looked up at the hovering spacecraft directly above Chapat's head.

"Sorry, I completely forgot about him…" The top hatch of the spacecraft opened, and Jiora stepped out, placing one foot on the exterior.

"Hello?" Chapat was puzzled, his mind swirling with questions. He couldn't understand why Yamiru and Dr. Brief seemed to act like they hadn't heard him. Were they pretending not to hear him? Or... wait, could I have already died? Chapat was startled and quickly checked his palms and pinched his face, wondering if he was a ghost.

Above, Jiora gently jumped off the spacecraft, floating down toward Chapat. Despite his larger stature, he descended as if he were a feather, gently swaying before merging with Chapat, vanishing in a blur.

"Fusion technique? Or the fusion dance? Maybe Ultraman Fusion?" Yamiru, who had never seen something like this before, instinctively thought of techniques from the Dragon Ball universe. "Oh, I've never asked Jiora how he merges with Chapat." But Yamiru quickly realized that this might be a confidential matter, so it wouldn't be appropriate to ask.

"Well, if I get the chance again, maybe I'll ask. After all… fusion techniques seem cool, but they aren't exactly beginner skills… no need for it in the early stages."

Yamiru put aside his curiosity as Dr. Brief spoke up instead. "Oh, is this one of your techniques?"

Now that Chapat was fully under Jiora's control, his personality and demeanor completely reflected Jiora's. He nodded and replied, "You could say that…"

Seeing that Chapat didn't want to elaborate, Dr. Brief didn't press the issue, and Yamiru, not wanting to make things awkward, stayed silent. Over the past few days, he had learned a great deal of combat techniques from Jiora. Though it had mostly been crammed into his head through intense, last-minute training, Yamiru was satisfied with his progress and was grateful for Jiora's help.

As night deepened, Jiora was eager to return to his home planet and get Chapat's body back to Slope City.

Yamiru hurriedly said he was headed in the same direction and asked Jiora if he could give him a lift.

"It's the same thing, isn't it?" Jiora knew that Yamiru had been traveling on foot to Paozu Mountain but didn't understand why Yamiru insisted on returning to Slope City. "You don't know either route, do you?"

"None of your business, stop nagging!" Yamiru snapped, looking flustered and agitated.

It was actually a trivial matter, but the more they talked about it, the more it seemed like something he had to do. And the more he thought about it, the more obsessive Yamiru became, wanting to get it over with quickly.

"Such a weirdo." Bulma, who was busy modifying her little car, wiped a smudge of oil from her fair cheek and remarked offhandedly.

"Your futures friends and husband are the weird ones!" Yamiru shot Bulma a death glare. Unfortunately, she was too absorbed in tinkering with the mechanical parts of her car to notice.

Under the night sky, Dr. Brief and his wife looked up, watching the spacecraft speed toward Slope City, leaving a white streak across the stars.

"Bulma, what's this… hey, did you figure out the anti-gravity device's principle from the spacecraft?" Dr. Brief noticed Bulma working on her mini-car in the grass nearby. After observing for a while, he quickly realized what she was doing, and he became inspired. He muttered to himself, "If we applied this to transportation…"

"It's not that hard," Bulma responded without looking up, then suddenly stopped and asked in a clear voice, "Dad, do you think this will make a lot of money?"

Dr. Brief chuckled. "Yes, it might be just as profitable as the transformation capsules. All thanks to you, Bulma."

"Hehe..." The little girl with purple hair and pigtails sat on the ground, giggling for a moment, then asked, "Dad, how much has Sis made from her light novels?"

"It seems like she's been funding her self-published works through part-time jobs..." Dr. Brief shook his head. "Your sister's account has always had your mother regularly depositing living expenses into it. I'm not really sure about the details."

Bulma was still a child, and her thoughts were often all over the place. She suddenly changed the subject and mumbled, "I wonder where Sis is now\..."

Just when Dr. Brief thought Bulma might be getting sentimental, he saw that she was already absorbed in modifying the little car again. She seemed entirely content, showing no signs of sadness. Dr. Brief smiled to himself—after all, it wasn't fair to try to understand a child's emotions with an adult's perspective.

Meanwhile, only a few minutes later, the spacecraft had reached the sky above Slope City.

"The acceleration for takeoff and landing is so fast, I didn't feel a thing! This technology is incredible!" Yamiru thought, impressed, as this was the first time he had ever been in such a high-tech spacecraft.

Jiora quietly flew the craft to the outskirts of the city, blending into the dark sky like a ghostly UFO. After landing, Jiora, still in control of Chapat's body, detached himself from it and stood before Yamiru, a towering figure at over two meters tall, adding to his imposing presence. Chapat, temporarily unconscious, lay to the side, and the spacecraft remained behind with its hatch open, awaiting their departure.

Jiora paused for a moment, then pressed the right side of his chest armor. With a whoosh, a spinning spherical object shot out. However, unlike the last time Yamiru had seen Jiora use it, he fumbled and let the object fall to the ground with a clatter.

"Oh no, I pressed it by accident! Where did it go?" Jiora acted surprised, quickly scanning the ground in the darkness. "Oh well, it's too dark to find it. Guess I'll have to report it as battle damage…" In the midst of Yamiru's incredulous expression, Jiora winked, grinned, and leapt back into the spacecraft's cockpit.

Yamiru laughed and gave a thumbs-up to the silent, rising spacecraft as it disappeared into the night sky.

After Jiora left, Yamiru activated his keen eyesight and crouched down, searching the ground for a while before finally finding the item that Jiora had "accidentally" dropped.

It was a small, pinecone-sized spherical object, one that Yamiru had seen Jiora use before.

Yamiru picked it up and tightly grasped it. Without warning, the ball extended into a blade of cold light, nearly a meter long—quite a bit larger than what Yamiru's height would have suited.

"A sword ball, huh…" Yamiru chuckled. "If I had psychic powers, I could probably use this thing like a flying sword. Haha, this is getting really off-track!"
