Dragonball : Three Eyes

Tien and Yamcha travelled for quite a while before they reached their destination, King Chappa's temple.

This place was located to the southwest of Capsule Corporation, and had a big stretch of ocean around it.

The temple's exact coordinates were SSR 249905 C, Tien and Yamcha had started their journey back at WST 3338926 K.

Suffice to say, there was a long distance between these two coordinates. Although for a strong man like Tien, this journey didn't take long.

He and Yamcha had reached Chappa's temple in a few hours. Tien was currently observing the building from the sky.

"King Chappa is inside his temple."

Tien sensed a pretty good power level within the building.

"I can sense other strong martial artists with him. They are probably his students."

"There's another guy who's close to King Chappa in strength; I wonder who that is."

Tien rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then shrugged and flew straight to the ground. He had decided to go in.

Gesturing to Yamcha, Tien walked ahead and stood before the temple doors. It was a specially built, heavy metal door.

This door was created as a test for students; only those who could push this heavy door can enter King Chappa's temple. 

Tien didn't care about the qualifying test, and pushed open the metal doors like it was made of cotton.

Creak

The temple door opened with a creak. The men who were training inside simultaneously turned, and looked at the new visitors.

King Chappa sat on the center stage, and curiously observed the two men, these two had passed his test and entered his temple.

He thought some talented new people had come to train under him, but when he saw the newcomers faces, his eyes widened.

"Tien Shinhan?!"

King Chappa exclaimed.

"You are the winner of the 22nd world martial arts tournament, Tien Shinhan."

"I lost that tournament against Goku in the preliminaries. You, on the other hand, defeated him and won."

"Before the 23rd martial arts tournament, you were at one point considered the world's strongest man."

King Chappa jumped down from the podium with a serious expression. He didn't know why someone like Tien visited his temple.

He hoped Tien didn't come with bad intentions, but if he did, King Chappa would fight against him without hesitation.

Tien didn't come alone either, the guy who came with him looked familiar, he might be a strong man as well but Chappa couldn't remember his name.

Chappa told his students to stay back, and walked towards Tien. He put his hands together and asked in a serious fashion.

"What can I do for you, Master Tien?"

King Chappa spoke calmly. He knew Tien was a strong man, but in his heart, he didn't think he was much weaker than Tien.

He had been training after his loss against Goku at the tournament; since then he had become stronger, and had grown as a martial artist.

Tien smiled gently but didn't answer right away; he looked around the area, observing King Chappa's martial arts temple.

This place was well maintained, despite being built on barren land. Chappa did have good management skills, Tien was feeling confident about his choice.

"Hello King Chappa, I see that you know me already."

Tien bowed gently.

"I am sorry for arriving without notice, but I have a favor to ask."

"I am building a kingdom, and I want you to be my minister."

"I believe you have the skills I am looking for. Please consider my proposal seriously."

King Chappa didn't know what to say; he thought Tien was here to challenge his school of martial arts.

Apparently Tien just wanted to recruit him; he was focused on his position rather than his strength.

This confused King Chappa greatly; he understood Tien's offer, but he didn't have any reason to agree with it.

"Forgive me for asking, but why will I join your kingdom?"

King Chappa said unhurriedly.

"I have spent my life ruling these barren lands, and have built my temple little by little."

"This is my homeland; my life's work is all here, all my people live here."

"I don't see any reason why I should leave everything behind, and follow you instead."

King Chappa put forward some valid points, and Yamcha felt distressed; he didn't know how to convince this guy.

He secretly peeked at Tien; Tien seemed to be pretty calm. Maybe he had a way to convince Chappa, so he joins them willingly.

Tien did in fact have a way. He had observed the temple's environment and King Chappa's personality, before coming up with a solution.

King Chappa's life was all about strength, but because he didn't know about Ki he lost to Goku twice, both times pathetically. Tien can help him solve this problem.

"I don't come here empty-handed, I have an offer for you, King Chappa."

Tien stretched out his palm, and a gentle Ki blast appeared above it.

"For your loyalty, I can give you strength. This is Ki, the secret to higher-level martial arts."

"The reason you lost against Goku so easily, is because he can use Ki while you can't."

"I am trained by Master Shen of the crane school. I can also use Ki, just like Goku."

"I am willing to teach you this power and a higher level of martial arts, if you become my minister."

Tien smiled, and the energy ball above his palm vanished. Even after it disappeared, King Chappa's eyes were looking at Tien's hand.

So this energy was called Ki; Chappa had seen Goku and legends like Master Roshi use it before, but he didn't know what this was.

Now, he had a chance to learn of its secrets; he was tempted for sure. Although he had a little hesitation in his mind.

Was Ki really necessary to become strong? He had trained heavily since his defeat years ago and had become much stronger.

He will not join Tien's Kingdom if he doesn't need Ki to become stronger. Before joining him, he wanted to know if Tien was strong.

"I understand; I must say I am tempted."

King Chappa bowed to Tien.

"Before I give you my answer, please have a match with me."

"If you are strong due to Ki, I will join you and consider you my master."

"But if I am comparable in strength to you, please allow me to refuse your request."

Tien laughed internally; he had correctly guessed King Chappa's personality. This man's thoughts revolved around martial arts.

Now, he just needed to give this man a little shock. Show him how strong the Z Fighters were compared to regular earthlings.
