Dungeon & Milfs

Chapter 18: Basement

As he sat there, Alex recalled all the things he had done after logging into the game. For him, everything felt incredibly real, even the hug from Jane.

"This is beyond my wildest imagination. I never would have thought living inside the game could be this real, even better than my own real life," he thought, and then a pang of sadness washed over him as he recalled his life before retirement.

His life before retirement had been a whirlwind of adventure, excitement, and exhilarating experiences, filled with daring feats.

However, after a devastating incident, his world shattered. Those whom he considered his closest confidantes abandoned him in his darkest hour, including his own wife.

"Let's leave it all behind and savour every precious moment," he thought. Suddenly, his notification window chimed.

[About]

Another notification chimed in, but Alex ignored it as Jane came, "Guys, the food is ready. You must be hungry, come."

The group sat together, but Elsa was disgusted by seeing just warm bread and sauce as dinner. Seeing her not eating, Jane wanted to speak, but Alex stopped her.

"Elsa, if you don't want to eat, then you don't have to, but after this, don't even think about getting anything better than this." He didn't want to be harsh on her in front of Jane.

Still feeling disgusted by the sight of the very simple commoner food in front of her, her body betrayed her as she was hungry. Her mind overruled her, and she picked up a piece of bread and dipped it into the sauce. The moment she put it into her mouth.

Her eyes lit up. Even if simple, the food felt delicious, and she started eating it, forgetting the etiquette of nobles.

Everyone looked at her, but decided to ignore her and focus on their own meals.

Soon, dinner ended, and Jane led them to the basement. "I'm sorry, guys," she said, "the basement is just one large room, but don't worry, you can still have some privacy but You'll have to share it, though. I hope you don't mind."

Alex spoke up, "You're giving us a place to live. That's more than enough. You don't have to apologize." Alex looked around the basement, which was spacious enough to accommodate dozens of people.

The basement was indeed spacious, with rough-hewn stone walls and a single, large window high up that let in a sliver of moonlight. There were a few wooden crates stacked against one wall, and a large, worn-out rug lay in the centre of the room.

"This is perfect," Alex said, a genuine smile gracing his lips. "Thank you again, Jane. You've been incredibly kind."

Jane smiled back, a touch of warmth in her eyes. "You're welcome, Alex. I'm glad I can help. Now, get some rest. You all look exhausted."

As Jane left, Alex turned to Elsa and Layla. "Well, what do you think?"

Elsa, who had been observing the room with a mixture of curiosity and unease, finally spoke. "It's... different. But I suppose it's better than those goblin cages."

Alex chuckled. "Different indeed. Make sure to behave well and we'll move out to find your family."

He gestured towards the crates. "Let's see if we can make ourselves a little more comfortable."

And so, they began to unpack their meagre belongings, transforming the cold, empty basement into a makeshift home.

Layla, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke, "Will you take me to find my home too?" Her eyes, filled with longing, reflected her deep yearning for her family.

Alex spoke with a sensible tone, "One day, I'll definitely take you with me to find your family. But to do that, we first need to know where to start. And to do that, we need to find the family who was behind all those abductions and slave trading." He pointed at Elsa, who ignored his gaze.

As the three beds were settled on the floor – one corner for Layla, another for Elsa, and the middle one for Alex – he pondered on what to do next. Then, remembering the Notification he ignored previously, he opened it.
