Chapter 108: Chapter 107: I Disagree!
Zhao Wuji quickly found himself in an awkward position.
The group before him didn't immediately summon their martial spirits but instead stood there blankly, staring at him.
Zhao Wuji grew increasingly exasperated. He could understand Yunfeng and Tang San staying silent, but what about Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun? What were they doing?
Just as Zhao Wuji was about to say something, Yunfeng spoke up.
"Everyone, summon your martial spirits. Can't you see how awkward Teacher Zhao is right now?"
While his words were well-meaning, they only made Zhao Wuji's expression more strained. He could barely maintain his composure.
Even Chaotianxiang, observing as a teacher herself, felt compelled to say something, as Zhao Wuji's performance seemed utterly embarrassing.
But before she could voice her thoughts, what unfolded before her left her speechless.
At Yunfeng's command, the group wasted no time and unleashed their martial spirits.
In an instant, the seven young men and women before Chaotianxiang lit up with dazzling spirit ring auras. Each of them had at least two yellow, hundred-year spirit rings. Xiaowu and Dai Mubai even possessed a purple, thousand-year ring.
As for Yunfeng, he had four spirit rings!
This scene left Chaotianxiang utterly stunned.
How was this possible?
This was her first thought.
These children, ranging in age from twelve to fifteen, were already at the level of Grand Spirit Masters or higher. Even the youngest-looking girl and the seemingly older boy had reached the Spirit Elder level.
Leading them, the blue-haired boy was a Level 40 Spirit Ancestor!
Moreover, their spirit rings were of astonishingly high quality. Not a single ten-year ring could be seen.
Was this some sort of joke?
Could Shrek Academy be some hidden elite institution?
Every student seemed so extraordinary.
Chaotianxiang hesitated. If these children belonged to powerful families, pressing the matter could lead to trouble.
The opposing group, however, remained cautious, releasing their spirit rings but concealing their martial spirits. This only deepened her astonishment.
One gifted child stronger than her granddaughter might have been acceptable, but all of these children were stronger than her granddaughter at their age.
Each one of them could only be described as a genius.
But how could so many geniuses appear all at once?
Zhao Wuji noticed Chaotianxiang's astonishment and felt a smug satisfaction. His face donned a grin akin to a sly fox as he asked:
"Senior, do my students meet your standards?"
Chaotianxiang took a deep breath, struggling to calm her racing thoughts. With a forced smile, she replied, "Indeed, they're worthy disciples of the Motionless Bright King. Truly, heroes arise from youth! Which of them has reached Level 30?"
Though she posed the question, her gaze remained fixed on Yunfeng, as did her granddaughter Meng Yiran's.
A Spirit Ancestor over Level 40 at this age was simply unbelievable. If possible, she wanted to ask him personally how he cultivated.
Zhao Wuji and the others noticed their attention but chose to remain silent.
Zhao Wuji patted Oscar on the shoulder. "It's this kid. He just reached Level 30. I had no choice but to bring them here."
Chaotianxiang understood his meaning and no longer dwelled on Yunfeng's cultivation.
For her granddaughter's sake, taking a small risk was worth it.
However, her expression darkened as she looked at Oscar. She knew full well how crucial a high-quality spirit ring was to a spirit master about to advance.
Now that the thousand-year Phoenix-Tailed Cockscomb Snake was in Zhao Wuji's hands, forcing him to surrender it wouldn't be easy.
Zhao Wuji's infamous reputation preceded him. Without the deterrence of her and her husband's title as the Dragon Serpent Duo, Zhao Wuji might have already attacked her and her granddaughter.
But letting this go wasn't an option either.
As she hesitated, Yunfeng spoke softly:
"Since no one wants to give up the Phoenix-Tailed Cockscomb Snake, how about this: let's follow the rules of the Spirit Master world and let them decide its ownership themselves. What do you think?"
"Oh? The rules of the Spirit Master world?" Zhao Wuji raised an eyebrow, genuinely curious. He had never considered himself a part of the Spirit Master community, acting only according to his whims. That was how he'd earned his infamy.
As everyone turned their attention to him, Yunfeng continued calmly:
"It's simple. Since both sides contributed to capturing the Phoenix-Tailed Cockscomb Snake and neither wants to back down, let strength decide its ownership. Isn't that the fairest solution?"
Chaotianxiang's face lit up at these words. She quickly turned to Zhao Wuji and said:
"Brother Zhao, since your student suggested it, let's settle it this way. If your disciple defeats my granddaughter, we'll leave without another word. But if she wins, I ask that you relinquish the Phoenix-Tailed Cockscomb Snake."
Oscar panicked upon hearing this.
Him, a food-type Spirit Master, fight a tool-type Spirit Master? That was a death sentence!
"I disagree!" Oscar blurted out.
His outburst made both Chaotianxiang and Meng Yiran frown deeply.
But Oscar wasn't done. He continued, "This was our catch. Why should we fight you for it? I'm a food-type Spirit Master. How am I supposed to fight you?"
His protest momentarily left both Chaotianxiang and Meng Yiran speechless.
"A food-type Spirit Master?" Meng Yiran finally recovered and couldn't help but retort, "We found the Phoenix-Tailed Cockscomb Snake first! If we hadn't injured it, would you have captured it so easily?"
"You're clearly in the wrong. And besides, this was the agreement between your teacher and my grandmother. I didn't steal your spirit beast. So what are you even saying?"
Her argument was sharp and logical, even earning Yunfeng's approval as he glanced at the girl with newfound respect.
Oscar, on the other hand, looked at Meng Yiran with frustration and a trace of unwillingness in his eyes.
"But I'm just a food-type Spirit Master. How am I supposed to fight you?"
Just as Dai Mubai prepared to step in, a voice suddenly called out:
"Granny! Yiran! What are you doing here?"
