Chapter 3: Chapter 3
Chapter 3
"- That's right." I nod slowly. "- My family recently defected to the Anti-Satanic Faction, and because of that and our home's proximity to the borders of the Old Satan Faction, assassins were sent to our home... my parents weren't good fighters, but they bought me enough time to escape the house and run into the forest."
A sad smile appears on my face. "A small group of attackers found me shortly after that... and then, after a short battle in which I killed five of the six, you showed up."
"- Guy... The Decarabia family was classified as extinct many years ago."
"- What?"
"The civil war ended several decades later."
I put the cup down hesitantly and bite my knuckles nervously. "I-that's impossible, I..."
"- That's why everything seemed so... different in the strange carriage with the chains... the magic screens... the sun."
I slowly look up. "Y-you don't believe me, do you?!"
"- I believe."
"- R-really?"
"- I heard stories about the heir of Decarabia who had a mutated clan trait... and you have proven that you have regeneration similar to the Phenex. One of the devils that attacked you also went missing and was presumed dead... for five hundred years. I believe you completely and with all my heart."
I clasp my head in my hands, letting out a long groan.
"What are you planning to do now?" Serafall asks after a while.
"Well, my plan to use the clan skill from my father's side to create weapons and armor for the anti-satanic faction has failed... I will do my best to adapt... However, I am afraid that after five hundred years, I have virtually no political power, our territory has likely been divided or taken over by another clan. If I try to reclaim my family's lands, I am afraid I will be silenced forever. The only advantage I have will be my mutated clan trait, which will either offend or intrigue the Phenex family."
"- Mutated clan traits are extremely rare," Leviathan notes. "They can permanently alter a clan's power for generations to come. The only recorded mutation, other than yours and mine, was that of the founder of House Bael, Zekram Bael, whose clan trait forever made his house the most powerful in the Underworld."
"- Oh, another potential enemy who will kill me because I might threaten his status quo. Wait- you?!"
Satan smiles and nods. "Instead of the usual water magic that my family usually uses, I have incredible potential in ice magic."
I pretend to consider my options. "Uh, my current course of action would probably be to try to figure out how much things have changed in the intervening time."
"- Clever," she complimented me. "- Technically, it's outside my jurisdiction... since I'm the head of foreign affairs, not domestic, however, I feel that since I found you and saved you, you're now my responsibility."
"- You didn't really need to save me," I remark, picking up my cup of tea and taking another sip. "- My wounds heal quickly, and even if I were seriously injured, I could simply channel my healing fire into myself and instantly restore my body."
"- Your opponent was a middle-class devil... approaching the highest..."
"- And?" I ask, blinking innocently.
"- You're still lower class. Almost middle, but still within the lower class."
"That didn't stop me from killing five middle-class devils before you arrived." I shrug. "Their only advantage was their ice spells, and I took care of that by enveloping my body in fire."
"- You killed... five middle-class devils?" Serafall blinked in surprise.
"- Yeah, I already told you that. They shouldn't have given me enough time to use the spells. But I'd definitely be dead right now without my regeneration."
Satan rubs his temple. "- However, I feel responsible for you, so I will inform you of the great changes in the world during your... absence."
"- Fine".

Finally, I'm alone. I can assess my situation and review all available abilities.
Translator's note
Decarabia:
Clan Ability Level 1: Melodious Song (Passive) - Much like a siren effect, your voice itself is mesmerizing, people hang on your words, and when you sing, they pay increased attention to you.
+4 to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidation. You also passively gain regeneration equal to 1/2 your level and immunity to fire damage. Whenever you take holy damage, your regeneration is halted for a round.
3rd-Level Clan Ability: Sacrifice. At 3rd level, you gain the ability to surround yourself with black fire. This fire burns for a number of rounds per day equal to your character level, plus a bonus to Charisma.
These rounds do not have to be consecutive. You can spend 1 point of Fiendish Magic to gain an extra round. Any attacks you make while under the effects of Sacrifice deal extra fire damage.
Malthus: Level 1 Clan Perk: "Heart of the Forge". Items you create have a small chance of becoming magical. Items you create have a 50% chance of automatically becoming a +1 weapon, a 5% chance of becoming a +2, a 0.5% chance of becoming a +3, a 0.05% chance of becoming a +4, and so on. Any weapon with a +6 or higher will have a spell randomly selected for it, and you can theoretically exceed the +10 cap on magical items. Additionally, you are considered a proficient user in the use of any magical weapon or armor you personally create.
Clan Level 3 Ability: Craft. Items you create this way are always masterwork quality and have a small chance of being magical (like the Heart of the Forge, though to a lesser degree).
Thank you, Mom, for my ridiculous ability to lie. It kind of saved my skin from Serafall... but I wasn't really lying, was I? I have memories of the old Decarabia, and in this situation, he would have reacted roughly like this.
I can also check the reward for my quest.
Task completed:
A Warm Welcome: You are attacked by assassins the moment you appear. How unfortunate. You must show them who they are messing with! Objective: Survive for 120 seconds: 120/120 [+]
Bonus Objectives: Survive without taking a single point of damage: [-]. Kill at least one attacker: [+]. Kill the leader of the attackers: [-]. Kill all of the leader's subordinates: [+]. Kill all of the attackers: [-] Convince Serafall to help you: [+_]
Rewards: 500 Electrum, one item worth 2000 GP from the D&D store. Bonus Rewards: 550 Electrum, 1 free feat, +1 to your lowest stat.
I have two thousand eighty electrum to distribute... hm. I suppose that's decent.
I could easily buy the level for myself, but I don't think I'll do that.
What software for the game can I purchase?
A large screen opens in front of me.
"Show me a list of special system effects from cheapest to most expensive."
There are quite a few fifty Eletrum perks.
For example: "Divine Game"
Divine Play: 50 Electrum Divine spells no longer require you to worship a god, the system simply provides them to you without any hassle.
Advanced Training: 50 Electrum (can be purchased multiple times) You can use any simple skill you choose as a class skill.
Pretty good. The Sorcerer has very limited skills, so I could use this a few times.
