DxD: Wrong Way

Chapter 31: Chapter 31 - Reasons

Himejima Akeno possesses a keen intuition and always senses that things are not as simple as they seem.

"Is that so?"

Aoki replied firmly.

"That's it."

As for the Longinus and the original male protagonist, the world line is not static.

Now that he has arrived in this world, Aoki has never considered accepting his fate.

Regardless of what happens in the future, keeping them away from Hyoudou Issei for the time being offers only advantages and no disadvantages.

Firstly, it can minimize plot changes and allow the "prophet" ability to be maintained for a longer period.

Secondly, it serves as a caged hand that facilitates Sekiryuutei's conspiracy.

Whether he is a prophet or not is inconsequential; it is the second point that Aoki values most.

He once contemplated proactively contacting Hyoudou Issei, but that would be too advantageous without a particularly good excuse.

If someone were to investigate, it wouldn't be difficult to uncover their ulterior motives.

Unexpectedly, Tetsuya Hatada provided such an opportunity.

To express his gratitude, if Tetsuya Hatada cooperates well, torture will no longer be employed.

Under the cover of magic, Tetsuya Hatada was successfully transferred to the Occult Research Department's activity room.

"Tsk, tsk, didn't you say that the club is about to be abolished? This is completely absurd,"

Aoki remarked.

This was Aoki's first visit to the Occult Research Department's activity room; not only was it larger than a classroom, but it was also adorned with red carpets and magnificent chandeliers shining brightly.

The leather sofas and solid wood coffee tables seemed far beyond the reach of ordinary people.

In summary, it bore no resemblance to the Elimination Department and was several levels above the Student Union Room.

Himejima Akeno smiled but said nothing; after all, even the academy belonged to the Gremory family.

Naturally, the future family head's club activity room must be exceptional.

Shinra Tsubaki offered some clarification: "The previous Occult Research Club isn't here anymore. Rather than saying Rias and Akeno took over a club on the verge of being abolished, it's more accurate to say they repurposed its name to establish their own club."

Considering the composition of the Occult Research Club's staff, Aoki wholeheartedly agreed with Shinra Tsubaki's assessment.

The head of the Occult Research Club is Rias herself, and all members are her dependents. This space was created solely for convenience in holding meetings and processing commissions.

"Uesugi-kun, are you going to interrogate him yourself or wait for the minister?" Akeno Himejima asked kindly.

"Of course, I can assist you with the interrogation."

"Akeno-senpai, your expression seems quite dangerous…"

Aoki set aside his curiosity and stopped looking around.

Akeno Himejima appeared surprised.

"Ara ara, that's just my normal expression."

Aoki responded with silence.

"I'll handle it myself; I won't trouble you, Akeno-senpai."

Handing Tetsuya Hatada over to Himejima Akeno—a cunning woman—would likely lead to an unfair outcome.

Himejima Akeno tilted her head innocently while ignoring Aoki's concerns about her sly demeanor. He knelt down and pushed Tetsuya Hatada slightly away.

"Hey, can you talk now?"

Tetsuya Hatada: … (damn)

"Oh, it seems like he can't"

Aoki mused while scratching his head—should they send him to the infirmary for treatment first?

"Tell me why you're tormenting yourself like this when you have nothing else to do."

Tetsuya Hatada's most serious injuries stemmed mainly from aftereffects followed by injuries sustained from being dragged by Aoki and finally from their one-on-one battle as men.

Since neither had any fighting skills, their punches looked terrifying but primarily struck muscle and fat—resulting in redness, swelling, and bruising at worst.

There's a saying: if you want to learn how to attack, you must first learn how to take a hit. Aoki strongly agrees with this sentiment; after all, if there's a reaction involved, he won't suffer any loss himself.

Hatada also didn't understand why he should endure hits when he could avoid them altogether; thus he ended up seriously injured.

Faced with Aoki's complaints about his situation, Hatada felt like crying but had no tears left—he hadn't wanted this either; he simply got caught up in it at that moment.

Had he known that Himejima Akeno and Shinra Tsubaki would always be present during their confrontation, he would have opted for an honest one-on-one battle without any transformations involved since regardless of circumstances—the final result would remain unchanged.

Just as Aoki was feeling overwhelmed by these thoughts, Himejima Akeno smiled and spoke up: "I know some healing spells."

Aoki asked curiously: "What then? Are you going to use them?"

"I don't know who it's for; I just mentioned that you shouldn't bother me," she replied playfully.

Aoki sighed inwardly—this scheming woman not only enjoyed teasing others but also had a mind as sharp as a needle's tip.

People under pressure often bow their heads in submission; thus he obediently apologized: "Akeno-senpai, I was wrong."

Himejima Akeno smiled even brighter as she waved her hand while extending green light towards Tetsuya Hatada:

"I'm not very proficient in healing magic but getting him to talk again shouldn't pose any problem."

"That'll do," said Aoki as he squatted down before Hatada once more:

"Hey! Don't pretend you're dead! I just heard everything—please explain quickly."

Tetsuya Hatada remained silent: "… "

"Still not talking? Do you want another beating?"

"Are you asking me?"

Tetsuya Hatada replied sadly yet angrily: "You haven't even asked me anything! What should I tell you?"

Aoki pouted: "Tsk! It seems like you're really not cooperating."

Of course he didn't intend on playing pranks; rather he aimed at fooling Tetsuya Hatada into revealing something useful.

If Hatada were indeed targeting him directly—this wouldn't have been his reaction at all!

Previously thinking this man looked foolish led him to believe there was little chance he'd manage something clever while hiding behind scenes—but now reflecting upon it—the process still needed addressing.

"Name."

"Tetsuya Hatada."

"Age."

"Sixteen years old."

"Gender."

Tetsuya Hatada hesitated: "… "

Aoki looked at him expectantly before repeating: "Gender."

"Brother! I call you big brother! Stop messing around! If you've got something important—just ask me!"

Hatada felt utterly exasperated—he couldn't fathom where he'd offended Aoki so gravely!

"You know exactly what you've done!" exclaimed Aoki while glaring deceitfully at him: "The victim found us seeking revenge!"

Tetsuya Hatada retorted incredulously: "Is this about reselling photographs?"

Aoki's eyes lit up as he calmly replied: "No."

"Is that… related to medication?"

"No."

"It can't possibly involve stealing underwear!"

"Hey hey hey!"

After laughing heartily until Tetsuya Hatada began questioning his life choices—Aoki raised his head towards Shinra Tsubaki:

"Tsubaki-senpai! Let me tell you—they're definitely hiding something dirty beneath those facades! There's absolutely no issue with arresting them directly for interrogation!"

Shinra Tsubaki shook his head helplessly: "Not everyone is as foolish as him."

"That's right," acknowledged Aoki nodding in agreement.

At this moment,Tetsuya Hatada finally regained clarity: "What do you mean? You lied to me?!"

Aoki gazed at him sympathetically: "As for what you've just mentioned—I'll explain everything thoroughly later at student union meeting—but right now let me ask…"

Briefly outlining matters leading up until now revealed unsurprisingly—it had nothing whatsoever connected back towards him!

"Why do you suspect me?" questioned Hatada Tetsuya realizing he'd fallen victimized by terrible misfortune unable suppress anger bubbling within!

"The rumor initially surfaced on campus forum—but original post got deleted leaving no trace behind," explained Shinra Tsubaki adjusting glasses atop nose bridge further clarifying details gathered through investigation efforts revealing account used wasn't merely involved spreading rumors

It possessed capabilities preventing others tracking activities effectively!
