"Hahaha! Come on, let's continue!" Zald's excitement surged as he felt his Swordsmanship, stagnant for years, evolving once more.
Unlike his previous improvements, Mika's Swordsmanship offered a glimpse of a new path, a way to transcend his current limitations.
Without giving Mika time to react, he charged, his greatsword whistling through the air.
Mika, suppressing his urge to exploit Zald's momentary weaknesses, parried the blow, once again forced onto the defensive.
"I can't keep enhancing his strength like this," he thought grimly.
Both Zald and Alfia had reached the pinnacle of human potential in Martial Arts.
With no path forward, they had remained at that level for years.
But now, through their battles with Mika, they saw a new possibility, their skills evolving, transcending human limits and approaching the Godly Domain.
Mika knew that if this continued, Zald's Swordsmanship would undergo a complete transformation.
Then, Orario would face not only Zald but also Alfia wielding Divine Martial Arts.
Given her talent, once Zald achieved that level, she would quickly follow.
For individuals like them, all they needed was a spark of inspiration.
And for Alfia, especially, the only thing holding her back was herself.
Facing two opponents with Divine Martial Arts, Orario's already slim chances of victory would vanish completely.
Therefore, Mika couldn't risk attacking Zald's weaknesses any further.
To Zald, his own Swordsmanship was flawless, based on his own perception and understanding.
However, Mika's Divine Swordsmanship allowed him to perceive Zald's flaws.
Through their exchanges, Zald had begun to recognize those weaknesses.
Mika's attacks had forcibly elevated his understanding.
And with this improved perception, his Swordsmanship evolved. He had been stagnant at the peak of human skill for far too long.
This rapid improvement was a direct result of Mika's attacks.
Therefore, he couldn't risk further enhancing Zald's abilities.
But even with Mika on the defensive, Zald's skills continued to improve; he hadn't fully absorbed the insights gained from their earlier exchanges.
"Clang!" Zald's greatsword slammed into Mika's, pushing him back.
"Damn, his improvement is too fast! He's surpassed human limits but hasn't reached the Godly Domain yet. Alfia is likely at this level as well." Mika grimaced, forced to focus all his energy on defending.
He had created this monster himself.
But his frustration didn't last long. Zald's progress plateaued as he fully integrated his newfound insights.
However, this stagnation frustrated him.
As a pure warrior, he craved greater strength. He had seen a glimmer of hope, a path forward, and now Mika's defensive stance denied him that opportunity.
Without Mika attacking his weaknesses, he couldn't learn and improve.
He wasn't a monster like Alfia, capable of absorbing knowledge effortlessly through observation.
"Hey, brat, are you going to cower like a weakling? Attack me!"
Mika rolled his eyes. "Nice try. I know what you're thinking."
"Forget it. I won't give you any more opportunities to improve."
"If you want to continue, we'll settle this during the decisive battle."
To minimize their losses, Mika had to defeat Zald and Alfia before they could fully integrate their newfound skills.
If they were given time to adapt, their strength would increase dramatically.
This meant that continuing their duel now would escalate into a life-or-death struggle.
...
...
Until now, neither had used their full power. They had relied solely on their physical abilities and martial skills.
Mika had used Enhancement Magic and Nen Techniques to close the gap between their strength, but they had both refrained from using their more potent abilities.
Mika had considered unleashing his full power and risking a direct confrontation when Zald's Swordsmanship began to evolve.
Even if he couldn't defeat him, he could lure Finn and the others, allowing them to overwhelm Zald.
But he dismissed the idea. He suspected that Alfia would arrive before Finn and the others.
Although he couldn't sense her presence, his intuition told him she was nearby, observing their battle.
If that were the case, he would be playing right into their hands.
"A decisive battle?" Mika's words made Zald realize that he wouldn't get another chance to learn from him now. After all, Mika's flawless defense was impenetrable.
Disappointed, he sheathed his greatsword. "In that case, our duel ends here."

"It ends here?" Mika asked cautiously, lowering his sword as Zald sheathed his.
"Indeed. As you said, it's not yet time for our decisive battle," Zald replied, a smirk playing on his lips.
Although he hadn't fully achieved the Godly Domain, his pseudo-Godly Domain level of Swordsmanship was already a significant improvement.
After all, he was dying.
To witness such High Swordsmanship before his death and to have taken a step closer to that realm was already a blessing.
"Besides, the battle nearby is almost over. If I stay any longer, I won't be able to escape."
Mika looked around.
The surrounding buildings had been reduced to rubble by their fight, providing an unobstructed view of the battlefield.
The fighting in the industrial district was winding down; Mellie and Alise would soon finish mopping up.
The flames and sounds of battle from the other streets had also subsided.
"So you're afraid?" Mika taunted.
If he had persisted, Finn and the others would likely have arrived by now.
He was certain Finn had left scouts in the area, anticipating the possibility of a stronger enemy appearing.
After all, Mika's connection to the Hera Familia made him a likely target for Zald and Alfia.
"Afraid? Do you really think so?" Zald chuckled.
He understood Mika's intentions.
"You're an amusing little brat. If you want to continue our duel, instead of hiding behind your defenses, I'd stay and fight, even if it meant facing your entire Familia. What do you say?"
Mika rolled his eyes. "Nice try. But I know Aunt Alfia is here as well."
He had sensed her presence after his duel with Zald concluded. He suspected she had deliberately revealed herself.
"Don't call me 'Aunt'!" Alfia's voice, filled with irritation, echoed from above as she descended, landing before Zald and glaring at Mika.
She was particularly sensitive about her age.
"Yes, yes, Aunt Alfia," Mika taunted, a playful grin on his face.
Alfia's eye twitched. "Do you think I won't kill you?" she said, her voice dangerously low.
A chilling aura emanated from her, sending shivers down both Mika and Zald's spines.
'I went too far,' he thought, forcing a smile.
"Of course not, Alfia," he said quickly.
Seeing him back down, Alfia snorted and turned to leave. "Just you wait, Mika. I will kill you."
"I'll be waiting," he replied calmly, his smile vanishing as he watched her and Zald depart.
…
…
"So, he's the one you've chosen?" Zald asked as they made their way back to the dark faction's base.
"Indeed." Alfia nodded, a subtle smile playing on her lips. "In my eyes, there's no one more suitable in Orario."
"Did you sense it? He leveled up again. Even among High-ranking adventurers, he's exceptionally strong."
Just as Mika had suspected, she had been observing their battle from the shadows, fully aware of his progress.
"Indeed," Zald agreed. His duel with Mika had left a lasting impression.
Mika's Swordsmanship, especially at his age, was astonishing.
Even Alfia couldn't match his skill.
For someone who had always been overshadowed by Alfia, it was almost unbelievable.
If he hadn't experienced it firsthand, he would never have believed it.
As they continued their journey, Alfia's sudden question interrupted Zald's thoughts.
"I recall your target was Ottar, wasn't it?"
"That's right. Although those from the Loki and Freya Familias have also reached Level 6, he's still Orario's strongest."
"Hmph!" Alfia scoffed. "If Mika hadn't become an adventurer so recently, that title wouldn't belong to Ottar."
Zald chuckled. "Are you sure it's wise to say that? You were just threatening to kill him."
"Only I can say such things. Mika deserves the title of 'strongest.' After all, it once belonged to the Hera Familia."
"Alright, alright, whatever you say." Zald shook his head, accustomed to Alfia's stubbornness.
The women of the Hera Familia were always like this.
He looked up at the sky and smiled.
"The stage is set. Now, let's see if they can surpass us, learn from our experiences, and become true heroes."
