Chapter 232.2. Demon
The high-ranking demons are far stronger than the low-ranking ones. However, they are overwhelmingly fewer in number. It was clear they would be defeated by sheer numbers.
“That’s right. So, this battle is lost. Since it can’t be helped, let’s show them the power of demons one last time. Is that alright with you all?”
“It might be a bit early to give up. We’ll intercept the enemy, focusing on those who can summon undead.”
The Asmodians still had high spirits and gazed fiercely at humanity, determined to strike back. As Satan watched them while resting his chin on his hand, he spoke in a light tone.
“If we kill these incomprehensible, unknown beings, perhaps the next Demon Lord born in the dungeon will manage to handle things. Well then, as the Demon Lord, I’ll give it my all!”
“Your attitude and words don’t match, my king?”
“Doesn’t it seem like a Demon Lord? Let’s equip the amassed weapons and face them with all our might. Alright, let’s go!”
At Satan’s clapping command, the demons stood up, raising their hands and voicing their resolve.
“We’ll do it!”
“Let them know the power of demons!”
“Let’s make those humans see what’s what!”
The demons hurriedly left the audience chamber. Knowing that the human army would likely suffer significantly from the demon generals and high-ranking demons, Satan sneered coldly in the now empty chamber.
“There’s no demon-like quality in them at all. I’m quite pleased about that.”
They resembled humans facing a losing battle, even though they were demons.
The earlier frivolous tone had vanished, replaced by a harsh expression as Satan looked back.
“So? Can we escape this battle?”
Before Satan’s gaze was a tiny red-black mass of flesh. The mass, about the size of a palm, wriggled like a slime.
[Can’t do… But I’ll absorb information about that guy and his combat style. It’s something you should keep in mind.]
“That thing… Well, I don’t know where my soul is, so your suggestion doesn’t seem bad. Just enjoy watching from a safe distance.”
The suddenly appearing mass of flesh made a strange suggestion. It simply asked to witness the demons’ battle, while offering some unclear benefit in exchange for absorbing the information Satan possessed.
There was no downside for Satan. He decided to entertain the mass of flesh’s words, having no intention of fleeing anyway.

Satan chuckled at the emotionless query. This thing didn’t understand anything.
“I am the king. I am different from the lowly demons around here. As the leader of demons, being a king comes with duties and responsibilities. Well, that’s something a mere mass of flesh wouldn’t understand.”
[Isn’t that a natural way of thinking?]
“Natural? Hah, the position of a king is a concept devised by humans. It’s a social status and a ruler, far from anything natural.”

Satan snorted at the silent, now quiet mass of flesh and lost interest, refocusing on the incoming guests.
“It’s a bit embarrassing to be the only one waiting in the audience chamber.”

With a wave of his hand filled with mana, the skill was activated. Numerous magic circles were drawn on the floor, and from them emerged demon soldiers clad in spiked full-body armor, wielding halberds, exuding a sinister aura.
There were about thirty of them. It’s a bit lacking for a lively display, but it’ll do.
“There’s no grand decor or audience in this audience chamber… but I hope the guests will be patient.”
He murmured in a solemn tone and rested his chin on his hand.
An explosion echoed from outside, and shouts could be heard. It seemed the enemy had already arrived at the fortress.
“Well then, I must show the power of Demon Satan-sama. I hope you’ll enjoy it.”
Satan awaited, anticipating the visitors to come.
