Chapter 272.2
Chapter 272.2. Combat Training Grounds
The pink-haired girl now produced a massive amount of tea leaves, tossing them into the air and scattering them everywhere.
Fortune group was confused, unable to understand why tea leaves of all things, but their hesitation lasted only a moment.
Ares moved past Metatron and leaped between the two girls, spinning his spear to emit fighting energy.
“At the end of the day, you’re just household helper fragments. You can’t even scratch me.”
[Circular Lance]
Ares spun his spear like a baton.
The rotation turned into a whirlwind, cloaking it in blades of wind to slice through the two girls.
“We lost…”
“You’re impressive…”
The red-haired girl, too, dissolved into silver particles and vanished,
leaving only tea leaves and the drifting silver particles floating like snow.
“It wasn’t much of a challenge. They’re house fairies, after all. Seemingly versatile, but in reality, powerless with no offensive strength.”
Metatron spoke indifferently, stating only the facts, prompting Fortune to raise an eyebrow and respond.
“We haven’t taken down their main body yet. And Nadja is preparing an attack.”
Fortune’s eyes caught sight of something far off—
a figure clad in a full-body, cannon-equipped armor beginning to move.
That must be Nadja, she deduced. Nadja aimed the cannon in their direction,
and with a light pop, fired a shell. It moved in a slow arc, likely a mortar, causing Metatron to shrug.
“It seems to be a condensed mana shell, but at that level of [Mana Burst], it’ll only deal minor damage.
After all, it’s a craft-exclusive weapon. Even if you can control machines, you can’t defeat angels.”
“…Is that so? I don’t think so.”
Ares, mocking Metatron, caught some of the floating silver particles in his palm and held them out.
“These particles… isn’t something off about them?”
“Hm? These particles are—wait, no!”
For the first time, Metatron’s face showed emotion—shock and fear.
He watched the silver particles in Ares’ palm fuse with what seemed like tea leaves, turning into ominous black particles.
His face twisted with a sense of foreboding. These were not tea leaves at all.
He quickly tried to cast a defensive spell, but the beautiful silver particles around him all turned into ominous blackness, and Nadja’s shell landed.
[Dark Detonation Puppet]
The moment the ominous thought passed through their minds, the black particles—triggered by the shell—exploded, igniting like a detonator. The explosion expanded rapidly, engulfing Metatron and the others in a massive blast.
“To be defeated without even seeing the enemy!”
The hundred Metatrons twisted their faces in pain and frustration, trying to escape, but their resistance was futile, and they disappeared as though swallowed by darkness…
The deafening roar shook the constructed space, sending plumes of dust into the air and leaving behind a massive crater as if a meteor had struck.
As the dust settled and debris rained down, there was no sign of Metatron.
Only Ares and Fortune lay collapsed, battered and broken.
A short while later, Serika arrived at the crater’s edge, clad in her Paladin-enhanced armor, and looked down at the two.
“So? How was my puppet manipulation? The strongest puppet trick is, of course, self-destruction.
I had my dear master enchant one of Sai’s fragments with a delayed-explosion dark magic spell. Using that fragment as a puppet creates a wonderful effect: an extremely powerful self-detonating puppet. It’s one of Sai’s and my combo moves from long ago.”
Serika explained this as she looked at the two, their bodies bloodied, limbs broken, and flesh torn in places.
By using Sachi’s fragments as puppets, their stats would increase and allow for self-destruction.
This method had been their strategy against powerful enemies for years.
“Metatron’s a hassle, needing to be defeated simultaneously. But if you have to take them out together, the simple solution is blowing everything up with bombs.”
“This isn’t a training Paladin unit, after all.”
Serika said, chuckling as she removed her helmet.
Silvery hair flowed outward, revealing a beautiful face.
“So? You guys seemed weirdly easy to beat. What’s the deal?”
Unlike Metatron, Ares and Fortune had noticed the self-detonating puppets.
They saw the silver particles spread like gunpowder, yet they took no countermeasures.
They let the attack hit them defenselessly and even verified that the enemies were fragments—highly unnatural behavior.
“We can no longer move. By international law, we request to be treated as prisoners of war.”
“This area is isolated. That fool’s interference is gone, and Metatron, the watchdog, is dead. Use the administrative-cracking item to free us immediately.”
Despite their near-death state, Ares and Fortune seemed unexpectedly spirited.
Realizing their true intention, Serika sighed.
So that had been their goal all along. These two never planned to fight seriously. They had only pretended for Metatron’s sake.
“Sheesh… Sachi and I won this. Sai’s new skill, [Specialized Fragment]! We won, so I’ll call the sentry over! Then I’ll get my reward and praise. I’ll destroy the space-boundary magic tool!”
Sai’s excited voice rang out from somewhere unseen, and Serika relaxed, realizing the sentry would soon arrive.
“All that effort upgrading this armor for nothing.”
Looking down at the two barely breathing figures, Serika muttered, sounding disappointed.
Nadja and Silky. Whenever those two defended an area. The enemies would typically die without ever seeing their faces.
Silky, in particular, was famous for never being seen at all.
And she was also infamous for her brutally merciless methods of fighting.
