Chapter 275.1
Chapter 275.1. Reason
A mass of flesh appeared from the gate. The mass, just over one meter in length, had pink skin, and only a mouth-like opening was present on its face. Blood vessels pulsed across its body, crawling irregularly, and its writhing form was eerie, resembling nothing but a grotesque monster.
Every time it walked on the metallic floor, its fleshy body made a sticky sound, sticking to the floor. It stopped before the golden dragons.
“Hmm. What is this thing?”
The dragons, confused, exchanged glances as they observed the mass of flesh. It did not appear human, so it must have been a monster, perhaps from another world. But just moments ago, a fellow dragon passed through here. Had they ignored this creature?
The mass of flesh wobbled, and with a motion reminiscent of minced meat, it lightly waved its arm. The arm, a mere lump of flesh without fingers, twisted and reached toward the dragon-people.
“I govern Reason. It is not the force of nature that I control. By the way, I intend to govern nature.”
The mass of flesh spoke in a flat tone, as though muttering. The dragon-person moved closer to inspect.
“A monster? Hmmm…”
The golden dragon-person, with reptilian eyes, slit vertically, focused their mana in an attempt to analyze the creature. Its true nature quickly became clear.
“I can sense a faint trace of Reason! It is like us!”
The dragon-person exclaimed in surprise, while the mass of flesh continued to writhe nonchalantly.
“You call the power of nature Reason and create a framework for yourself. Why is this so?”
The mass of flesh’s mouth-like opening, which had been like a cave, began to move. White teeth had grown inside, and the pink flesh started to change, its skin taking on a healthy, glossy appearance, similar to normal human skin.
As the mass of flesh slowly transformed, the dragon-person frowned slightly at its strange inquiry.
“We were born from the concept of trials for humanity, and we imposed those trials on them in the form of disasters. In the end, humanity failed the trials, and we became beings that are always present, that is, we became Nature itself. Nature is God! By becoming Nature, we confirmed our status as the gods of this world. And so, we decided to govern all the laws of the world. Creating new laws is our duty. We are the new gods who will lead this world.”
“So, in the end, you just want to become the rulers of the next age, since you destroyed humanity. How much value can a god, created with human thoughts, really have? Is a god created from human desires truly perfect? Even though you are divided into pieces, you claim to be a perfect god? Perhaps your brain is only that of a lizard?”
Gradually, the mass of flesh began to change into a human form. Glossy, wet black hair grew, flowing down to the floor and spreading out. Beautiful obsidian-like eyes formed, along with a small nose and delicate pink lips, all emerging from smooth, healthy skin like a newly formed egg. The mass of flesh transformed into a petite girl with an attractive figure.
Her sleepy eyes half-closed, the girl tilted her head slightly and asked the dragon-person a sharp question.
The dragon-person scowled in disgust as they glared at the girl, baring their crocodile-like fangs.
“Presumptuous!”
The dragon-person was about three meters tall, their body covered in golden scales. Anyone sensitive to mana would be blinded by the immense power they radiated, a force so great it could crush hearts with fear and awe. Their body was like a suit of armor made of bulging muscles, and their limbs were as thick as tree trunks.
In contrast, the girl before them, though possessing the same power, had it far weaker and more fragile in comparison. Standing about 130 cm tall, she looked like a small, young human girl.
Compared to their own governing of Reason and the world, this small being seemed too insignificant. Still, since she appeared to be the same kind of being, the dragon-person decided to offer her one last chance.
“Submit to us. Help open the door to your world.”
But the girl, now in her human form, looked up at the dragon-person with half-closed eyes and replied in a disinterested tone.
“Sorry, I don’t understand Lizard-speak.”
“Regret this!”
The dragon-person, furious, swung their arm, enveloping it with golden particles.
[Truth Fist]
Surrounded by the force of Reason, the dragon-person’s fist swung toward the girl, its speed like a gale. In an instant, their arm disappeared as it struck, aiming to hit the girl.
Smack
However, the fist was easily caught by the girl’s palm, completely losing its power. Her body did not waver, and she showed no signs of being pushed back.
“What…”
“Shh.”
With a sharp movement, the girl closed the distance, stepping into the dragon-person’s range. She threw a right hook, the wind whistling as her small fist connected with the dragon-person’s torso.
The impact caused a ripple through the dragon-person’s body, which began to swell. The energy from the vibrations rampaged inside, culminating in a massive explosion that scattered chunks of flesh. The girl stood calmly, exhaling as she remained in the same position.
“You!”
“You dare defeat us?!”
“You will destroy Reason?”
The three dragon-persons, shocked by their comrade’s defeat, leaped toward the girl.
Two dragons attacked from the sides, while one lunged from the front, its hands curving like claws, aiming to strike the girl. All were beings of immense strength, closing in with the speed of the wind, determined to bring her down.
The girl ignored the two dragon-persons closing in from the sides, kicking off the floor, and charging straight at the one in front. As it reached for her with claw-like hands, she twisted her arm like a spiral, redirecting its trajectory.
Sliding past its arm, the girl entered its range and punched her small fist into its torso. The golden scales shattered like glass, and the flesh was torn open, creating a gaping hole.
She then pivoted on her left foot, planting it firmly on the floor and spinning, ducking under the swinging arms of the two dragons overhead. Her long black hair swirled in the wind, momentarily blocking the dragons’ vision, giving her the chance to strike.
Like a spring, she shot upward and landed a devastating uppercut to one dragon’s head. Its head exploded, and it staggered before collapsing.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she twisted in midair, delivering a somersault kick to the second dragon.
The kick was sharp, slicing through the dragon like a blade, splitting it clean in half.
“Weak.”
With a crash, the three dragon-persons fell, defeated in an instant. The girl landed lightly on the floor, her toes barely touching it, and muttered in a bored tone.
“Why?”
The dragons, who were supposed to be the strongest in this world and the ones to govern its laws, stared at the girl in disbelief.
“Impossible! How could you defeat us with just that much power?”
“Unthinkable. This defies Reason!”
The girl stared back at the uproarious dragons with a bored expression, lazily waving her hand.
“You weren’t hiding your power to intimidate me. You just don’t have any techniques worth hiding. How disappointing. I suppose you’re just a frog croaking like a lizard after all.”
