Chapter 31: Conundrum
Adrian helped his younger cousin to bed. Rosemawry's room was quite as he had remembered it. Very pink. She was severely drained from her recent activity. Usually, her ability to increase someone's potential did not wear on her as much as this. She could usually achieve hundreds of attempts daily. He was not sure if she was in danger, but he was determined to contact Harvey. Harvey would know.
"Adrian, what do you think it means?" Rosemawry's voice came extremely weakened, hollow even.
"What is it?" He answered.
"Usually a second is a decade of someone's lifespan."
Adrian hadn't really thought about it. Usually, it took mere moments for someone to be increased three times their lifespan. Some people failed to be increased at all. He didn't want to dwell on the reasons why that was, cemeteries were filled with those kinds. For it to take three days meant a lot. But, no mortal could live so long.
"Adrian, I don't feel good."
"I will call Harvey. Please rest."
"No, Adrian. I am not suffering mana sickness. I was very careful. It's just that I lied to her."
"What do you mean?"
"I was unable to actually increase her potential one lifespan, let alone three. I managed something. But, not nearly enough. I don't know what she is. But, she is not a mere Fraction."
