Elegy: Lost Shadow

Chapter 3: Waves

I was in the rain again. I felt the cold invade my body as I stood in the downpour. I stood on that land all alone hoping that one day, I wouldn't feel this cold. I saw the child stumbling as it walked towards me. I was relieved that it had survived.

I felt relieved.

 'Call me…..and I shall descend,'

I was really glad that it survived.

'The power that you crave shall be yours,'

I felt as though I could see something beyond that loneliness.

'A simple plea is all you need as I exist as little more than a tool to you. And you are but my nourishment.'

It was stumbling towards me and I could tell it was shaken by what it saw. It must have watched everyone get brutalized. I grew to pity it. All its innocence must have been lost as it watched them die.

I opened my arms to welcome it when it was consumed by a black fog. Every part of it was devoured as no trace of it was left. No, not a trace. I was alone again.

The fog turned back and began floating next to me. Everything glitched out as it became clear to me. I was never alone because…..you were there, watching me. Always.

Water began condensing around his unconscious body as it began releasing a black fog. Beside him, crystal began to materialize. Whatever it takes, right?

From the crystal, a blue estoc materialized. Its cross guard was replaced by five hexagonal pieces with one at the center and the other four revolving around it on the side of the blade. The water froze as it shattered.

The golem swung the hammer, purely intending to crush her. When it hit the ground, a loud thud could be heard. There was no way that she could have escaped in her condition.

"Anemone…..I have a favor to ask of you."

"What_ is it?"

"After this…..can we share a meal?"

"Sure, I don't see why not. "

He put her down after having carried her to safety. His eyes were releasing a black fog like aura and in his left hand was the crystal blade. He began dragging its tip against the ground as he walked towards the golem.

I don't understand why but when I looked at her, all I could see was that stumbling child. The one that you consumed for me.

"I can't really sense much from him right now, but I can see a black fog a shrouding his body," she muttered as she watched him walk away.

He suddenly stopped. I hope this is far enough not to affect her, he thought as he began releasing a black and blue fog like aura. Parts of his aura began to crystallize and the crystals shattered before converting back to aura. He then looked up at the golem. The aura never stopped doing that throughout.

Anemone, who was still on the ground thought, something in the air feels ominous, sad and murderous… but beyond that I feel loneliness that makes me pity who it belongs to.

"water bullets," he said as he held out two fingers. He shot two bullets which were blocked immediately. The sand from the hammer returned to the golem as the formed the arms which Anemone had chopped off. It had four arms once more.

It dropped to Its knees as it attempted to crush him. He side stepped it before touching the massive hand. Water art: Rapture. Its arm turned to mud as water ripped it open. While that was happening, it used the other hand attempting to crush him, it was a clean hit.

He was forced to the ground as he felt as though all the wind was driven out of his lungs, he could hardly breathe. Why wouldn't my body move…..Hardly had the golem withdrawn its hand when he forced himself back to his feet. The golem went for another blow which he side stepped before jumping on top of it. He began running up the arm.

As he was running, he was shot by a series of sand bullets. He began hyperventilating as his aura thickened. It hurts!…I hate those bullets. Following the volley of bullets were the other hands of the golem attempting to crush him. They all landed clean hits.

The arm he stood on crumbled as he crushed into the ground. To him, it was as though he fell into a pool of water. He felt the water force its way into his body as he felt cold. He struggled to get back to his feet. As soon as he made it back on his feet, he could see his surroundings and feel the wind's breeze.

The ground beneath him became drenched in water as he said, "I think you should shut up now….you are acting unruly. I can't focus if you keep talking to me." As soon as he concluded that statement, he jumped onto one of the golem's many legs before jumping into the hole in its torso.

He plunged his blade into its body as he thought, Water Art: Rapture. Its lower body exploded as it turned to mud. Its upper body fell to the ground, cracking from the impact of the fall. He was covered in mud as he walked away from under the golem's body, whatever was left of it anyway.

The golem crumbled as it turned to sand again. "So you are trying to drench my sand in water so that I can't use it."

"I am trying to. But you still have a lot of it left." He replied as he thought, I feel so cold. The more water I imagine taking in, the stronger I feel ,but, the colder I become. I don't know how much longer I can last. I feel like I am standing in the rain. I can still hear the drizzle.

He dashed towards the man only to notice the hand that was forming from sand attempting to grab him. "Water Art: Shifting Tide!" he exclaimed, slashing its fingers off. He shifted his gaze to the man only to be met by a volley of sand bullets. There were twenty in total. He took a severe hit.

The severed fingers turned to sand as they returned to the hand and reformed. It pressed him against the ground before picking him up and throwing him towards the trees. His eyes widened, mouth opened, aura dissipated from the impact of crashing into the trunk. He slid until he reached the ground, shivering from the intense cold he felt.

"I-I sti-…ll need more….if I let it end….then the child stuck in the rain will die." He continued coughing as he began tearing up. His shadow darkened as he began releasing a black and blue aura once more. In his shadow, a grin made of a blue aura appeared. "I will cut him down,…..whatever it takes!"

The leaves on the tree he was leaning on began to wither away. His blood was dripping to the ground as he began coughing. The air around them felt heavy as though it was drenched in bloodlust…..his intentions were clear.

Water bullets, he thought as he dashed towards the man. The hand which formed from the sand attempted to grab him but was easily evaded. When he got close, he was going for an uppercut which the man blocked. He in turn received ten sand bullets at point blank range. They were a clean hit.

He agonized as he felt as though all the wind was forced out of his lungs. He dropped the blade and grabbed the man's shoulders for support. He then delivered a head-butt as he increased his grip. He stared into the man's eyes.

He felt sand bullets shoot his back which forced him to release his grip. The man kicked him before jumping back. A clear crescent, nailing his jaw. He said, "That was something, you tried to corrupt my nodes just now. Just how much magic is coming off that body of yours."

The crystal fragments that were forming in his aura grew in size as they shattered and turned back to aura. He crashed into the ground. "Unfortunately, I think I have dragged this for too long. I am going to end you in my next three attacks."

Kano was on his knees, hyperventilating, his shivering only got worse. He forced himself to his feet only to receive a series of sand bullets. The man was unrelenting. Water began condensing around his whole body as he attempted to repel them. He was countering them with water bullets.

A giant sphere formed in front of him as he shot it at the man. The man fired several sand bullets which forced the water to scatter ... .but as soon as it did, he noticed Kano who was behind it touched him.

The scattered water gathered as it turned to ice and skewered the man. He fell to his knees as he grabbed the man's shirt for support.

A giant sand stone materialized above him. It shattered to pieces and each piece hit him. He suffered a lot of cuts. He fell to the ground hyperventilating before he saw grains of sand forming a giant hand. It was preparing to crush him. He raised his hand, shouting, "Now descend. "

The hand crushed him as the man was hit by a chunk of ice which fell from the sky. The hand pressed heavily against him, attempting to suffocate him. He no longer had the strength to resist. He could feel his consciousness slowly fading.

The hand crumbled as he could breathe again. He gasped for air. The blue in his aura disappeared as he got back to his feet. He stumbled, blood dripping from his body as he began walking towards her. The closer he got to her, the more unbearable it became for her.

What's going on, what's happening to the

air? It's as if the closer he gets, the less of it there is. I feel like I will suffocate. She thought as she tried to move away from him.

I am in the rain again….this time, I will

look away from the sky. He thought, looking at Anemone. You survived. In her, all he saw was that child. He then fell unconscious to the ground. Tears were rolling down his face as he lay helplessly on the ground.

The man got back to his feet and attempted to walk towards them when he collapsed and fell back to the ground.
