Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

Chapter 8 - Prehistoric World!

Perhaps it was habitual by now, but Lin Feng woke up on his own this time before the system prompted him.

“Beep, the floor the host is about to enter is the Jurassic World. Please be cautious in your actions, host. Walk 50 meters to your right after leaving the elevator and you will find an unguarded dinosaur nest. You can obtain a dinosaur egg that is about to hatch (the baby dinosaur will likely recognize you as its master after successfully hatching), as well as plenty of food and natural resources. Again, please act within your capabilities, host!”

The system had warned him to be careful twice in a row now, which meant the Jurassic World must be extremely dangerous.

It made sense, with his current abilities, claiming to be able to kill dinosaurs and other colossal beasts was a bit far-fetched.

If his pistol was an assault rifle, Lin Feng might still try his luck, but with just a pistol, he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to kill a single dinosaur even after emptying all his ammo!

In Lin Feng’s impression, dinosaurs were monster-like existences, the kind that would require Ultraman to deal with.

After struggling internally for half an hour, Lin Feng decided to go in and take a look first. If it got too dicey, he could always retreat back into the elevator. He refused to believe he wouldn’t be able to get in and out.

“Ding dong! Elevator descending, please hold on.”

The broadcast sounded, and Lin Feng became nervous again, double checking his leather backpack while holding his pistol.

After the elevator doors opened, deafening roars entered Lin Feng’s ears. The world before him looked exactly like the Jurassic World from movies, with massive trees, prehistoric creatures everywhere, and pterosaurs circling overhead hunting for prey…

As Lin Feng immersed himself in the magnificent scenery, he suddenly realized –

This floor was terrifyingly huge!

If he could travel to everywhere within eyesight, then this floor must span tens of thousands of acres.

But just hearing the deafening dinosaur cries nearby, Lin Feng knew he absolutely could not wander around recklessly, otherwise he’d likely die without knowing how.

“Walk 50 meters to the right after leaving the elevator, it’s not far. Dammit, go for it!”

Lin Feng steeled himself and directly stepped out of the elevator, the only safe place.

He had one goal – obtain the dinosaur egg!

The system said the dragon hatched from this egg would likely recognize him as its master, so he had to get it. Admittedly, this plan was rather bold.

But if successful, Lin Feng would become the most powerful survivor of all.

“Fifty meters, fifty meters, fifty meters…”

Lin Feng muttered while carefully surveying his surroundings.

Fortunately, no prehistoric creatures seemed to notice this insignificant human.

Just then, rustling sounds came from the berry bushes ahead. Lin Feng immediately raised his gun, tense and ready to retreat.

Moments later, a creature that looked both like a bird and chicken hopped out from the bushes.

“Is this…a dodo?”

“Caw caw!”

Seeing Lin Feng, the dodo not only didn’t run but aggressively charged at him, as if wanting to give him a beating.

Bang! Bang!

After two gunshots, the dodo was dead.

“What the hell? As dumb as expected.”

Lin Feng grunted and put the dodo into his backpack. It was pretty heavy, probably over ten pounds.

He also stuffed the entire berry bush into his leather backpack – it could hold anything he could cram in.

After walking some more distance, Lin Feng finally saw the legendary dragon nest.

Under the big rock ahead were two newly hatched baby dinosaurs, and a perfectly intact dinosaur egg about the size of Lin Feng’s head.

Around the nest were many animal carcasses, mostly small creatures, with dodos being most numerous.

There were also some unidentifiable shredded meats.

“Juvenile carnivorous dinosaurs?”

There were indeed no adult dragons guarding the nest, but those two baby dinos didn’t look easy to deal with.

Seeing this stranger enter their territory, the baby dinos immediately assumed attack stances, snarling to intimidate Lin Feng.

But Lin Feng wasn’t about to cater to them for the sake of stealing an egg. After emptying his remaining bullets, he quickly ran over to stuff all the intact dodo carcasses and dinosaur carcasses into his leather backpack.

He mainly collected the dead dodos to feed the baby dinosaur in the egg.

And he could try roasting some dinosaur meat in other floors to taste it, wondering if it’d be edible.

“Roar!!”

“Oh crap, the parents are here for revenge!”

Hearing the roaring from nearby, Lin Feng panicked and quickly put the dinosaur egg into his backpack before running away without looking back.

It was only 50 meters, just buy himself a few seconds!

“Roar!!!”

The velociraptor that arrived, seeing its babies killed, bellowed in grief and rage at this strange creature, Lin Feng.

“Damn, isn’t that a velociraptor?”

Seeing the velociraptor chasing faster than a cheetah, Lin Feng’s pupils shrank in fear.

At this rate he’d be caught up soon, no good, he had to fight back!

Lin Feng abruptly stopped and emptied his entire clip, no longer caring for accuracy. As long as he could land a few shots and restrict the raptor’s speed, he could escape alive!

“Roar!”

Of the 13 bullets, only 4 hit their mark, but they struck the velociraptor’s crucial hind legs.

The velociraptor let out a pained shriek before crashing heavily to the ground.

Clearly the pain in its legs prevented it from running properly. Lin Feng finally made it back into the elevator alive.

Leaning against the wall and panting heavily, Lin Feng discovered his entire back was drenched in cold sweat.

That was way too dangerous just now.

Thank goodness he had a gun.

Although there were still twenty minutes before the elevator doors would close, Lin Feng wasn’t going back out.

After taking out the dragon egg and placing it on his bed, Lin Feng reloaded his pistol with the last clip.

Just then, heavy footsteps sounded.

Incredibly, the injured velociraptor had staggered over!

Its injured legs prevented it from moving quickly, but it still tracked Lin Feng based on the direction he had fled.

Luckily Lin Feng was safe inside the elevator now where the raptor couldn’t spot him.

Watching the raptor roar ceaselessly outside, Lin Feng felt a twinge of guilt.

After all, he had killed its babies and stolen the last one – anyone would go mad with fury.

Just then, a pterosaur suddenly flew down from the sky and carried the wounded velociraptor away.

Such was the cruel prehistoric world.

Watching the pterosaur disappear from view, Lin Feng looked complexly at the dinosaur egg.
