Empathic Mimicry: Copying Apocalypse's Powers

Back to the hotel room where Raciel, Enzo, and the rest were before teleporting to the research center. A few objects flew inside the room and crashed on the walls and floor.

"Damn it, Damn it, Damn it!" Said Adrian while throwing every single thing he could grasp in the room and then destroying it by smashing it on the floor or the wall.

"I thought that this mission was supposed to be safe, and easy grab and go. I didn't think we almost died because of a sniper or by being eaten by zombies!" Adrian started to punch the walls while frustrated by what happened to them and how close they were to dying.

"Adrian, calm down! We are okay, nobody was hurt." Said Mariam trying to stop Adrian.

"How can I calm down? We were just lucky, that was it!" Said Adrian.

"None of us were hurt because we were not in the sniper's sight. Raciel was the only lucky one because he had superpowers, if he didn't that would mean that we killed him by taking him with us when it was supposed to be safe."

"What if it was you? Or Darcie? Even worse, what if it was Enzo? Do you think we could have handled the loss of any of them? I know I couldn't." Said Adrian after which he finally calmed down and sat on the edge of bed.

"Not only did we almost die, but we also lost all of our stuff thanks to the attack. That shot and glass breaking attracted the zombies, and if it wasn't for Raciel's ability and how unfazed he was by getting shot we would have died no matter what we did." Said Adrian.

After what Adrian said, the whole team was quiet even Raciel but he was mostly quiet because Raciel didn't know them for that long. If it were one of them dying he wouldn't be affected as much as the rest of the team would have been, he's just seeing the team as a form to get used and learn about this world.

Adrian took a deep breath to finally calm down, "I'm sorry that I yelled. I was panicking about the whole situation."

"But you have to agree, none of these has ever happened before not even before the whole apocalypse thing. We always were on safe missions while in the military and the most we ever got to experience is being attacked head-on by a convoy of terrorists."

"It's okay, what matters now is that all of us are okay and that thanks to that we can now look for the responsible for that attack. We can also add to that the accomplishment of our mission." Said Dillon

"Alright, everyone calm down." Said Enzo.

"This may not be as easy as it looks. I feel like we have a spy in our ranks."

Hearing this the whole team gasped in surprise at what Enzo said.

"What do you mean that we have a spy in our ranks? All of us have known each other since long ago. What do you mean by that, Enzo?" Said Dillon.

"I wasn't talking about us. I was talking about our base." Enzo corrected Dillon.

"What do you mean? Why do you think there is a spy in our ranks at the base?" Said Darcie.

Adrian suddenly interrupted, " Yes, don't you find it weird that we were attacked while looking for the USB drive that may have important information regarding the zombies?"

"This mission was supposed to be secret, but someone already knew where we were going to be."

"Maybe Adrian and Enzo are right because no matter how much I think about it it doesn't make any sense." Said Mariam.

"The ones who did it are also the ones who stayed at this hotel before we arrived here."

"I don't make sense right, why would a group of people camp out in this hotel when from here East there is nothing but pure office buildings and also the research facility."

"There is also the risk of zombies in a hotel that used to be filled with people. The only reason as to why someone would stay in this hotel is because they are heading towards the research facility." Said Mariam.

Having heard what Mariam, Enzo, and Adrian were trying to convey, the rest of the team couldn't help but stay silent. Enzo knew that the whole team needed time to fully process all that happened and even this conversation.

Enzo clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention towards him.

"Well, this is all for today. Everyone go rest up, we'll head back tomorrow."

After Enzo took his stuff and left the room, in search of another empty room to sleep until the next day. Seeing Enzo leaving the rest of the team did the same thing and left the room in search of a place to sleep until tomorrow.

Raciel saw how everyone left the room where he used to sleep before, he knew that what they went through was a lot.

It was also a lot for him, if it wasn't because he had abilities and he still hasn't gotten over the fact that he has superpowers he would also be the same as the others.

Raciel sighed and sat down on the bed, he couldn't be happy after the vibe of the whole place was wrong.

"I have been too childish." Thought Raciel.

Ever since he returned from the X-Men world, Raciel has been over the top. He feels invincible, but he also feels like a kid who was given the most destructive weapon in the world and acted out without a care in the world.

"I could have died." Raciel thought while remembering when he got shot in the head by a sniper.

If the bullet had been bigger and the gun stronger, as long as his head had blown up he is dead. Logan's healing power had a limit and that limit was destroying the head, if there is no brain there is no coming back anymore.

Thinking about the fact that he was only lucky Raciel shudder, he has been childish and reckless and that could have killed him.

"Although I can't change the future, yet. I can learn from it." Said Raciel to himself.

Raciel enters his watch face again and enters the missions section. On the missions section now there is a new mission instead of being empty, almost as if was waiting for Raciel to open or it has been watching him before sending a new mission.

Reading the mission description Raciel suddenly had an idea.

"This world may allow me to increase my strength." Thought Raciel.

If what Raciel thinks is possible then having new and diverse abilities is not impossible. Ever since coming from the X-Men world, Raciel hasn't used one of Apocalypse's abilities and that was Power Bestowal.

This ability has two effects namely Power Bestowal which gives a person with no abilities an ability of their own, basically letting that person awaken their X-gene.

The second effect is Power Augmentation which lets Apocalypse augment the power or how skillfully one uses their powers.

Raciel hasn't had an opportunity to try this power and even when Enzo and his team appeared he didn't want to risk anything bad happening to them. The main reason is whether humans from other worlds have the X-gene in their DNA like the humans in the X-Men world.

That's why Raciel will try it in this new world, to prove whether in this world he could awaken the X-Gene in humans on this world—If they have it.

Knowing his objective for this mission and also what he wanted to test, Raciel started to prepare a little. He left all his stuff like the backpack and unimportant things behind.

This is because the mission description talks about barbarians and if there are barbarians then it means that the technological level of this world is practically none.

So anything advanced or technological will be useless and too hard to explain what it is or how he got it, so Raciel will leave it behind. What Raciel is going to take is the sword and any weapon that is a blade.

The Katana is the only weapon that is a blade that he has so he didn't have to take much.

After prepping himself enough, Raciel once again entered the mission section on his watch and accepted the mission.

"New world, here I come!" After Saying that Raciel disappeared from the spot.
