Emperor Phoenix World

Chapter 14 She is not as good as a dog 4

Yemo maintained an innocent appearance, but both Yilin and Yiluo fixed cold, stern gazes upon Nanny Liu.

“Miss Fifth, this is chicken soup for you; this old servant can’t drink it,” Nanny Liu responded, glancing nervously at the second lady. She couldn’t fathom why Fifth Miss had refused to drink it herself and offered it to her. Had Fifth Miss discovered something?

The Second Madam, aware of Nanny Liu’s special elixir, exchanged a reassuring look with her.

The chicken soup looked clear as water, and it was laced with a liquid poison known as “Liushui,” which was colorless and odorless. Even an alchemist couldn’t detect it. Ye Mo might be intelligent for her age, but she was still just a seven-year-old child. Detecting such a poison was beyond her capabilities.

Holding the bowl of chicken soup, Ye Mo brought it close to her face and said with indifference, “Yilin, Yiluo, Grandma Liu prepared this soup especially for me. I was deeply touched, so I want to give it back to Grandma Liu. But I believe Aunt Liu is too scared to drink it herself, so I’ll let you pour it for her.”

Yilin replied, took the chicken soup from Ye Mo, and looked at Nanny Liu with a smile. “Aunt Liu, please enjoy the soup that my young lady has rewarded you with.”

Nanny Liu hesitated, saying, “I…I can’t drink something meant for Miss Fifth.”

“Yiluo, restrain her,” Yilin ordered, her expression cold.

Yiluo, a four-star junior magician and a sixth-level warrior, easily subdued Nanny Liu.

Ye Zheng was on the verge of speaking up, but Ye Mo crossed her arms, wearing a smug smile as she gazed at her father. “If Daddy insists, please have Daddy drink the bowl of chicken soup instead of Grandma Liu.”

“Ye Mo, you’ve gone too far…” Ye Zheng slammed his hand on the table and stood up, glaring down at Ye Mo. “This is the General’s Mansion, not a place for your childish antics. If you don’t want to drink the soup, just leave it be. Why force Grandma Liu to drink it after she put so much effort into making it for you? This is how you repay her?”

“Why is Daddy so upset?” Ye Mo glanced at Ye Zheng, then turned her attention back to Yilin and Yiluo.

Ye Zheng’s anger intensified as he saw Ye Mo seemingly ignoring him and paying attention to the maids instead.

Just as he was about to scold the maids, Ye Zheng witnessed Nanny Liu suddenly vomiting blood. Blood flowed from her nose and ears, and her lips turned black before she collapsed to the ground.

The sudden turn of events sent shockwaves through everyone present.

When Yilin fed Nanny Liu the chicken soup, Nanny Liu had resisted so vehemently that much of the soup spilled onto the ground. A white puppy had entered the room, attracted by the fragrance, and had lapped up some of the spilled soup. However, the puppy quickly fell to the ground, convulsing.

Upon seeing this, the three-year-old Ye Feng cried out in distress and sniffled. He called out to his little pet, “Beibei.”

Yemo glanced at Yilin but remained silent.

Yilin picked up the white puppy from the floor, administered a pill to it, and then handed it back to Ye Feng.

“Take it back and let it rest well for the night. I’ve given it a detoxifying pill. Just feed it some porridge,” Yilin advised. Ye Feng nodded vigorously, and the fourth lady instructed a maid to take Beibei.

Nanny Liu lay on the ground, witnessing the puppy being saved while her own life hung by a thread.

Yemo was well aware of the colorless and odorless poison in the chicken soup. She had seen through the second lady’s deception when she had offered her the reward.
