Chapter 17 Sun Moon Mountain Range 1
When Yiluo returned to the Jade Lotus Courtyard, Ye Mo was sitting in the hall, while Yilin occupied the opposite side.
Seeing Yiluo’s return, Yilin promptly stood up and approached Yiluo. “Did you hear anything?” Yilin asked curiously.
All they needed to know was what Ye Zheng intended to do with their young lady. This information would help them find a way to stop him.
“Yes, I heard,” Yiluo replied, glancing at Yemo and nodding.
“Well, what did you hear?” Yilin inquired, her curiosity piqued.
“One month from now, there will be a sacrificial ceremony in the Qilan Empire,” Yiluo began, her gaze shifting to Yemo. “The Emperor has requested the selection of a child for sacrifice, but none of the civil and military officials of the Manchu Dynasty are willing to offer their own child. So, Ye Zheng…”
As she mentioned Ye Zheng, Yiluo gritted her teeth and continued in a deliberate manner, “He informed the Emperor that our young lady will be burned alive as a sacrifice in the upcoming sacrificial ceremony, one month from now.”
“What?” Yilin’s face turned pale as she heard Yiluo’s words.
It was inconceivable that Ye Zheng, her own father, would plan to have their young lady burned alive as a sacrifice. Had he forgotten that the young lady was his own daughter?
“I thought he had something else in mind for me, but I didn’t expect it to be this matter,” Yemo remarked, standing up and smiling. “Yilin, Yiluo, it’s getting late tonight. Go back and rest. Tomorrow morning, we will depart for the Sun and Moon Mountains.”
“But Miss, can we just ignore this matter?” Yilin asked, her anxiety evident.
With only a month remaining until the sacrificial ceremony, why was their young lady so composed? Why wasn’t she worried?
“This matter isn’t as urgent as your illness,” Ye Mo replied, looking at Yilin. “Your annual attack is approaching, and if I can obtain the necessary medicinal ingredients this time, I can completely cure your illness. I’m not in a hurry, and I’ll figure out a solution when the time comes. Your health can’t be delayed any longer, do you understand?”
Yilin hadn’t expected that Yemo was in such a rush to go to the Sun and Moon Mountains due to her illness. Holding back her tears, she sniffled and nodded, saying, “Miss, I understand.”
“Then go and get some rest,” Yemo said before turning away without saying anything else.
Once a year, Yilin experienced an excruciatingly painful attack, and it was best to avoid it while she was back in the imperial capital.
As for Ye Zheng, if she disappointed him, she wouldn’t willingly be a sacrifice, and he would have to face the consequences. However, this matter was quite complicated, and she needed to find a solution.
After returning to her room, Ye Mo began to prepare for bed. After washing up, she lay down and rested.
The next morning, Ye Mo got up early and made her way to Yilin and Yiluo’s room.
When they arrived outside Yilin and Yiluo’s room, the two maids emerged.
“Are you prepared?” Ye Mo inquired, looking at them both.
“Miss, we are ready.”
“Very well, let’s go,” Yemo stated calmly, leading Yilin and Yiluo out of Yuheyuan.
As soon as they left Yuheyuan, they encountered Ye Yan and Ye Tian.
“Where is Fifth Sister going?” Ye Yan inquired. Upon learning that Ye Mo had been chosen as a sacrifice the previous night, Ye Yan had lost his temper.
Ye Mo was going to die within a month, so there was no reason to be upset about it.
